We are about to adopt a sweet new fur-baby. He is around 6 months old. We are adopting him from our local shelter, and their best guess is that he is a Labradoodle. Anything I should know? LOL I've never had this breed. I've had a Lab, and terriers. Any tips from the Peas? Attachments:

I have a goldendoodle and the the best dog ever. Doodles are smart, loving, goof balls. I belong to a Facebook group called, Doodles United. There are many types of doodles, but they all share certain qualities. There topics such as feeding, grooming, training, all around sharing doodle experiences.
Congratulations on your new furry family member. You will have lots of laughs.

I have one. There are TONS of Facebook groups and blogs devoted to doodles. That pup may be one, but I’m not sure. Doodles tend to be expensive and aren’t likely to show up in shelters.
I got one due to allergies. While I don’t appreciate all of the breed characteristics, I do like being able to snuggle with my dog and not have to take meds afterwards.
Congrats on the new family member!

CONGRATS ! He's adorable !
He looks more like a terrier mix due to the shape of his head and the texture of his coat. I don't see no lab or poodle in him at all. I know 3 people who have had goldendoodles or labradoodles and all 3 families have been very happy. I don't know anyone who has a terrier-mix.

Oh my cuteness. Be prepared to fall in love 😍. I spent a week with a labradoodle last month. He was so loyal and had to know where his humans were at ALL times, he loved his ball and swimming. He is two years old and I was shocked how calm he was. Congrats Jen

I have a labradoodle from a rescue. They told us he was a year old. We shave him and he looks similar to the doggie in the picture. We were told he came from a puppy mill, his colours are similar to your dog (which are in high demand) and we were told he was bred twice but they think the colours didn't breed through.
Anyway, he's the sweetest most loving dog ever. He loves cuddles and walks and we think he might be part goat because he eats everything in sight. Mind you, he was severely underweight when we got him.

He is adorable though, and I am sure he will bring you lots of joy. Congrats on the new baby!

No advice, I have an adopted golden retriever mix. But thank you for using a shelter rather than a breeder<3

I know a labradoodle that gets shaved and looks a lot like your picture. The one I know came from a rescue, and many people have said it looks like there may be schnauzer in him too. He is a wonderful, family-friendly dog.
Enjoy!

I thought Schnauzer too. I don't care what his mix is, he is adorable, and my DD12 LOVES him already!! It's like he knew that she was the one he had to win over, and it worked! LOL

I can see Schnauzer there too. He’s gorgeous! What’s his name? My Doodle is my best friend and the Best Dog Ever™️.

we have a rescue Schnoodle. great little guy who wants to be part of his pack every minute of the day. he's nosy, funny, but skittish when it comes to sudden loud noises. he doesn't shed. he loves to play with toys. he doesn't like to be outside by himself. he's far more engaged than the larger dog who only wants to guard her territory and hunt for possums and squirrels. your new doggo is adorable! may you have many years of fun together!

LOL Yea for you getting a doodle through a shelter and not paying big bucks for a mixed breed from a breeder!! My sister was gifted a goldendoodle and he is the biggest lovable dork He stayed with us for a couple of weeks when they both moved back up to Washington. We thought he would have a great time playing with my Samoyed, who is only a couple years older then Oliver, but their play style was too different. Oliver would come up to Ryder and just spin and spin and spin
Doodles are a mixed bag of personalities since they don't have a breed standard. So you will get a mix of traits along with a mix of opinions Poodles are usually really smart, goldens are usually super lovable and if he's lab, labs are usually puppies for several years

As gmcwife1 mentioned above, Doodles are a mix bag since you never know what the parents really were. I think people like to put “Labra” or “Golden” in front of the name to make you think you’re getting the chance of a good temperament.

I have a mini labradoodle and he is the best, sweetest dog I have ever owned in my life. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body and he is just 100% pure angel. Congrats on your new baby!

There are different types of Labradoodles. We have an F1 Labradoodle that is literally half Poodle and half Lab. People mistake her for a terrier lots of times because of her wirey, scruffy coat. F1s are not as common as the F1bs, etc, that are more poodle than lab. But, I am still not sure that cute pup is a Labradoodle. I would need to see some better pics. But, I love my F1 Labradoodle with a purple passion. I am a huge dog lover and admirer of full breed dogs, but, my Doodle has the best personality and is the best companion I could ask for. I will never have any other type of dog. Best of luck!! Erin

We rescued a pup that we were told is a labradoodle. I'm not quite 100% sure on that, but it seems to be correct. They were very certain that he was at least half poodle, and his coat definitely shows that. He is a very sweet, and very playful dog. He can fetch for hours and seems to have boundless energy, but he enjoys snuggling as well. He is almost two, and we have had him for just over a year. He came to us very well trained, house broken, doesn't chew, etc. His only issue is he has seizures, which is why we think his previous owners got rid of him.

My dad and stepmom had a labradoodle, who sadly was put to sleep just this week. 😢 Charlie was the sweetest dog, a big gentle girl. She used to jump in the pool to “save” the kids if they were jumping in themselves. She tolerated in a kind motherly way my young boisterous cavoodle who would jump all over her. Such a sweetie. If I was going to get a big dog I would most likely choose a labradoodle.
