Today yds goes bye-bye. It's back to college for that kid. We had a great summer together, but he is growing up and must move fwd w/his life. Dinner will be purchased and his apartment will be stocked w/the appropriate amount of college kid food. We have to hit Trader Joes, so that it's on the healthier side.
What's on your menu?
leannec, still thinking of you and wishing you well.
cadoodlebug, enjoy your final time in Spain. Can't wait to hear about the wonderful meals and the amazing things that you've seen.
Have a wonderful day.

Hey everyone ... thanks so much for thinking of me over the past couple of days ... I've been hibernating with my migraine that then turned into just an annoying headache ... I spent the time in bed with my books and my family fended for themselves when it came to dinners ... so lets just say that my depression got the best of me but I'm OK today ... a trip to Costco last night helped because I got Brookside blueberry snacks which I love Dinner is up in the air tonight as no one seems to know if they will be here ... yay.

leannec, thank you for letting us know that you're OK. Well, migraines aren't good, but at least you're over the worst of it.

leannec glad youre feeling better. Migraines are evil. I have a much needed hair appointment right after work. I always look forward to some pampering. So that means I'll just pick something up on my way home. Wouldn't want to mess up my fresh hair slaving over a hot stove. 🤣🤣🤣

leannec, I’m so glad you’re doing okay. We missed you! scrapmaven, it’s hard to believe it’s already time for your ds to leave. Glad you enjoyed the summer with him. It’s Survivor premiere and Big Brother finale night at my house. I’ll be watching with my dd by text and eating some leftovers from last night. I made carne beef with onions and peppers with cauliflower that I added Rotel to. It was pretty tasty, but made a LOT. We even had some today for brunch with fried eggs and hot sauce added. I enjoyed the brunch version better! Hope everyone is having a nice Wednesday.

We fed visiting friends last night and tonight they are taking us out to dinner. I'll either have a big bowl of mussels (a pound of p.e.i mussels, charred fennel cream, ham, baby potato, garlic, shallot, paprika oil & basil) or shrimp & grits (Argentine red prawns, trinity sauce, house chorizo, fried egg, crème fraiche grits & thyme) and hope someone at the table orders truffle fries so I can steal a few.

BF is traveling for work, and tonight truly is the last night of dog school! I've thought it was the last night for three weeks!
Anyhoo, I will have leftover something, or a grilled cheese and tomato soup, perhaps.

softball tonight = quickie dinner, so it's grilled smoked sausages and chips. If you think that is impressive, wait til tomorrow, which is currently on the menu board as IDK.

We had a wonderful tour of Sevilla today and got back to the hotel and ate a late lunch that was fabulous. DH had duck and I had pork that was out of this world. Heading out for dinner now, not sure where we'll end up but it'll be fun as it's our last dinner on our own as tomorrow we have a farewell dinner. Oh and we relaxed by the rooftop pool this afternoon for about an hour. It was awesome just having some down time.

leannec ....Glad the headache is gone, of course, but hoping the depression is gone or at least lessened a bit, too? (( hugs )) Happy Visitation Wednesday Everybody! CarefreeSadie ----I googled "visitation Wednesday" but there was no answer.....? cadoodlebug .....I can't WAIT to see photos of your amaaazing trip! scrapmaven ....Aww...(( hugs )) that your sweet little "birdie" has to leave the "nest" again. Hmmm.....I want / need to go to "Whole Foods" today, and if I do, I'll possibly be inspired to make something different for a change. In an attempt to eat more veggies, there's a kale/ blueberry/ balsamic/ sunflower seed salad I'm tempted to try, but we need something else to go with it...especially some PROTEIN....I just don't know what yet. What I DO know is that kale is bitter and the texture isn't great, BUT---this recipe says you massage it with olive oil and that really helps. Plus all the other ingredients sound like it might actually be yummy! (I got a giggle out of a recent thread where lucyg and someone else talked about MASSAGING kale...Lucy said something funny, but I can't remember what it was). Speaking of "Whole Foods", it cracks me up that people call it "Whole Paycheck" It is actually a little further than I feel like driving today, PLUS, there are other upscale grocery stores I could go to that are a bit closer. BUT, the ONLY reason I actually *need* to go to WF is because they sell the brand of essential oils that I LOVE. It's also a treat to go there because this time of year, they will have SOOO many different colors and types of pumpkins that other stores don't have. I'm going to have to be careful with their BAKERY, though. I am VERY picky about store-made goodies, but theirs are SO good! The cookies, donuts, cakes, and thennnn----all that delicious freshly-baked BREAD! I have GOT to cut down on sugar and white flour !!!!

@calimom2 I am so sorry your daughter is dealing with something unnamed that claims such a large part of her life...hugs to you cause you need them! scrappintoee Visitation Wednesday is the every other Wednesday that my sister picks me up and we go to the nursing home to visit the mother for at least an hour......The mother has made an art form out of being manipulative and nasty, the sister has some problems too, sometimes it is like sitting in a room with 2 people who never tell you anything but you are supposed to know whatever they are talking about and if you do not they get nasty....I liken it to being in a foreign country and not speaking the language.....the mother made me her durable power of attorney so I cannot walk away, I probably wouldn't anyway but the will to survive by running in the opposite direction is powerful.......there you go the explanation of Visitation Wednesday, probably much more then you wanted to know.....

@calimom2 ---I'm soo sorry about your children!!!! ((( hugs ))) CarefreeSadie ----Wow, you need (( hugs )), too !!! For all of you who are Mommies of college-aged kiddos, I wanted to share this layout I made years ago of my adorable nephew. My sister was going through those tough moments where she was soooo sad, leaving him at his dorm, yet also soooo happy to see him going into adulthood. (P.S....he lovvessss his "Aunt Toee", but he would disown / hate me if I posted his full face here!!! My sister would be mad, too, so I had to conceal her identity, also....hee hee )

My layout above reminded me...... I've been meaning to ask forever----except for the ones I already know that scrapbook----how many others of you did/ still do? (I know kelleem, lucy, doodlebug & jeremysgirl do, but not the rest of you). I've also been meaning to ask you foreverrrrr, dear scrapmaven --with your user name, I'm assuming you were/ are a major scrapbooker? I started wayyy back in 1998 and was into it for mannnny years! Especially in the early 2000s when it was all the RAGE! I got all the magazines, went to CKU, GASC, and other scrapping events. I scrapbooked and/or made cards allllllmost every. single. day. for years----even sometimes before or after work. My friends and I scrapbooked every. single. Friday. night for several years, too. Fun times! I'm still friends with them, and we keep SAYING we're going to start again, but we don't In the past few years, I make more cards than scrapbook. I want to get back to scrapbooking, though!! I miss it !!!! Annnnd, I have SO. MUCH. PAPERrrrrrr

@calimom2 - I can feel your frustration and anger. Hugs to you because I can't do anything else. scrappintoee - I don't anymore. I still have stuff, lots of stuff. My mom and I scrapbooked together, since she passed I still haven't gotten the feel for it again. I make Christmas cards (for the Pea Swap), but other than that, I don't really create anymore. I donated a whole bunch of my Mom's stuff last year and packed up what I didn't want to get rid of. There are 3 large totes. I keep telling myself it will be one day.

I made dinner today, something chili-ish. At least the family ate it without complaint. (And I had chocolate afterwards, from my secret stash. Shhhhh...).

Whew! The scribe needed to read and reread the thread! Lots going on. Arrows of love to our leannec for conquering her migraine and dealing mightily with her depression. Mostly arrows of awesomeness for allowing her family to fend for themselves. The scribe could learn a thing or two. scrappintoee - I still scrapbook and, like you, have wondrous papers to use up. I grew up with a collage artist father (hobbyist) and we made a lot of collages back in the day on the weekends - old magazines, fabric scraps, his artist paints, weird stuff we'd barter for at swap meets in the desert. I love your layout of the change in that young man as he moved out - he had such a great room in his house - those walls are a scrapbook of sorts! And @calimom2 - arrows of hope and encouragement to your darling dd. Such a trooper. I am not fixing dinner tonight. I've decided to eat with bc2ca at that restaurant. Sounds delicious. Thanks for the thread - hugs to our leader and arrows of sweet memories of YDS and his summer at home.
