I usually have my two BFFs dress me by committee when I need help choosing what to wear. I post pictures to our group chat and they make suggestions or give me opinions. This time I think I need the collective power of the peas.
This weekend DH and I are taking DS to New Orleans for his birthday and to look at colleges. We have been there several times, so I had my clothes all planned out.
I knew it would be hot, but we will be going to meet with a couple colleges I wanted to look nice, so I was going with my favorite knit dresses, either short sleeve or sleeveless (with a cardigan or something if a/c is cool) with sandals or loafers (could even wear Cons for doing touristy walking things) and a scarf to dress one up for evening.
The weather forecast is now calling for 80% chance of storms. All. Weekend. The rain will cool down the temps, but then it is wet and muggy. And I don't know if I really want my feet wet wearing sandals.
At home when it is this kind of weather I just wear jeans and my rain shoes or duck boots (the rubber/leather type). But I want to look nice for our trip.
Do I change to skinny ankle pants? Capri? Capri leggings with a nice tunic?
All of these are viable options, except I still have no clue what shoes to wear!
Also, do I take my trusty raincoat with the hood that is a taupe and navy color and is kind of oversized and makes me look shapeless or do I take my pretty pink trench style raincoat with no hood and doesn't really breathe, but looks good on?
Mother nature hates me, I think.
Please help me Peas!

I would still wear the duck boots, your feet won't be in your pictures, and you don't have to dress up for the schools. If it's 80 degrees it's too hot for a rain jacket.

Would your dresses look good with the rain boots or duck boots? If so, I vote wear that and then a breathable rain jacket.
If it’s not supp to be windy, consider an umbrella so you don’t get too hot.
You don’t have to dress particularly nice for the schools. Just look casual but neat (aka don’t wear athleisure) and you should be fine!

Are you talking with anyone at the schools? I would want to look pulled together for a Tulane visit, so I get it. What about rainboots that go over your shoes? Or wear your water shoes and slip into flats before you go inside. In NO, I'm most worried about comfort. It rained a lot last weekend in NO, and I was pretty comfortable in a pair of slip on Sketchers like these. BUT, I was just forced to step in a big puddle in them today, and now I'm a little miserable. lol I have another pair of Sketchers similar to these or these but in black that I wish I was wearing. I like the stability of the Sketchers in weather like today!
