We're looking into cutting cable and going with a streaming service. We are leaning toward Hulu Live but it doesn't include any of the Hallmark Channels. I see that Hallmark has something called "Hallmark Movies Now" (HMN) that includes many shows and movies, but not ALL of the Hallmark Channel content. When I go to the Hallmark Channel website, it offers streaming of most of it's content, but you need to sign in with your cable provider info. That won't happen if we cut cable.
We already have Netflix and Amazon Prime (and regular Hulu). Current content for Hallmark isn't offered on those.
Anyone know of any options besides cable to get regular Hallmark Channel content? Thanks!
Pam

"Hallmark Channel Everywhere" is available through Amazon fire TV. I don't have another device so I can't tell you if it's offered on Roku, etc.
That has movies and shows, from my understanding, and is not the same as the Hallmark Now or the streaming through cable. I think it's fairly new.

Yep, I saw that article, which is how I found out about Hallmark Movies Now. But so many of the other options were $40/mo. But maybe dh only suggested Hulu Live because he's not aware of all the other choices. I'll look into those (and the other article you posted) as an option instead of Hulu Live. Thanks! I just got DirectTV Now which is a streaming service. The cheapest one is $40 a month and it has both Hallmark Channels!! Awesome, thanks! I'll look into that as an alternative to Hulu Live. Pam

I have regular tv's and an Amazon Fire Stick hooked up to it. But as far as I can tell (and who knows, maybe I'm not using it to it's fullest extent), it allows me to access Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, etc. But the Fire stick is just the device that allows me to stream using those subscriptions that I've paid for (alternatively, dh can stream those services on his tv but instead of a Fire stick, he uses and Xbox). When we were trying to decide who to go with for live tv, we looked at our cable guide, wrote down the channels that were must have and the channels that were nice to have but not deal breakers. We then compared it to DirectTV Now, Hulu Live, Youtube TV and Sling. We don't have Discovery, but we gained Smithsonian channel, which is still Science-y, not reality tv like discovery had become. Remember that Hulu Live also gives you access to all of their other content as well - Hulu Originals, plus older shows like Netflix has. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu Live.
Hulu Live far and away suited our needs better than any others. It has 2 Lifetime channels, but not Hallmark (we don't watch any of those, so didn't matter to us). We have had it for about 2 months now and love it.
If you are going to go to all Streaming, invest in an excellent modem/router. Not good, excellent. Make sure that modem/router is compatible with the company you are getting your wifi from. (Ours is Comcast, our router was $385, but worth every penny).

What specifically should I look for to be excellent quality? We've always been happy with the standard buys off from Amazon, but then again, we were mostly using it for standard web browsing, not streaming. Pam

Playstation Vue has all the Hallmark Channels. It's a streaming service, not a gaming device.
The Hallmark app subscription thingy is not live, nor does it have their current movies. It's a complete waste.

Looks like you still need a provider for Hallmark Channel Everywhere:
Why am I being asked to log in?
Hallmark Channel Everywhere App is making some of your favorite Hallmark Channel movies and shows available on hallmarkchannel.com in partnership with participating television providers. In order for you to watch these programs for free, the Hallmark Channel Everywhere App must verify your television subscription by having you log in with the username and password provided by your television provider.

I looked at 3 different ones and then showed them to our IT guy at work. He said that you really do get what you pay for. With our Comcast provided router, not streaming, we had to use an extender. We have had no issues since we got the new one.

SlingTv has an add on called Lifestyle that has Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, as well as Hallmark Drama. If you get Sling Orange ($25/mo), then the Lifestyle add on is just just $5/mo.
We have tried all the streaming services available. Currently we have Hulu Live, as well as SlingTv. We keep the SlingTv because it gives us access to BBC news and France24. If Hulu Live ever add those, then we will drop SlingTv. Hulu Live has been the best of all of them, offering our local stations for networks coverage (worthless as it is), as well as a good assortment of other stations. We get all the sports coverage we need with them.
An added bonus with Hulu Live is that most apps will consider it a TV Provider when signing up for free access to the apps. Sometimes the apps will offer special content, as well as older episodes. The one we use that for mainly is HGTV.

We ended up with Sling because Hulu seems to be the most freeze/crash prone streaming service we have, and I didn’t want to tie so much of our TV to it. It’s frustrating, because I think we’d be happier with Hulu Live overall. But the whole Hulu network was down last night when I was trying to watch This Is Us (not available on Sling), and it happens all the time.

We didn't have an issue with Hulu last night, but from about 8-10 we were watching a video so I might have missed that. The freezing/crashing issues were why we got rid of DirectTv Now. While I don't miss cable (cut the cord 2 years ago), streaming still has its kinks and issues. It's still evolving and I've seen big improvements in the past 2 years. Hopefully it will become more stable over time.
