This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Welcome to another month of scrappiness. It is starting to feel like Autumn here and the leaves are very pretty. I hate to see this nice time of year fade because I know winter is right behind. Brrr. Have a great month and be sure to post your projects, cards, layouts, etc. here.
For the Team Challenges, take one point for completing 4 layouts this month.

Good Morning, Hoping to finish participating with the Pokey Peas this months and getting to know you all better. And, nylene - I miss leaves turning and I miss snow living here in Florida. Though, I remember after January was over in upstate NY (where I am originally from), I was ready for the snow to be gone. lol

Hello! Happy October first! I'm ready for Fall weather for sure. It' going to be mid 80's and above here again this week. boo But I don't think I could live in a part of the country that didn't get all four seasons - well two seasons as it seems to be the last few years lol. I love the anticipation of the changes in weather for each one.

Thanks for the new thread nylene! Are you feeling better? justlisa7, snow is in December for a white Christmas, but I can handle it afterwards if you have sunshine. In Colorado, you'd have snow but beautiful sunny days that you didn't mind the snow. Living in the northern mitten of Michigan it's so much more gray than sun. Blech! joyfulnana, we had to turn on the heat this week. I turned it off this morning since it would be in the 50s and ds said he was freezing and turned it back on. lol kellyr21, sorry, none of my ideas worked for your wall heater. Hopefully you'll find something that will. I too would love to see your wreath. I bought a couple of wire frames that were $1 for wreath making a few weeks ago and thought of you as I bought them. I said if I can't find a youtube video on how to make a wreath I'd pm you. grammadee, I'm sorry you haven't found your new dog yet. Good luck on the hunt. @elaynef, how's the house repairs? Waving hi to everyone else! October is here and it's been cloudy looking like rain any second all day. I've been trying to catch up on laundry and eggs. I have eggs coming out of my ears at this point. I don't want any more quiche or frittata. I've been told you could freeze them to use in baked goods. So I'm freezing my 2nd batch and I'll see how they do. If you know of any recipes that use lots of eggs let me know.

Sure tastes yummy this time of year though Waving hi to everyone from here. I didn't get to scrap today after all, and I'm going to have to use tomorrow to get caught up on some paperwork. No scrapping in my near future. Soon, though, I hope.

LisaDV, we have been living on egg salad sandwiches for lunch lately. They have tasted so good for a change. I have a layout ready to glue together. If we don't have "flood control" duty tonight I should be able to finish it. We are having rain storms that overwhelm the city storm drains and are threatening lots of homes. We survived last night and are prepared for tonight also. We have put in 2 new drains since our last flood a few weeks ago. The city cleaned out the drain just down from us so we hope that will help. We are all sandbagged and hoping for a gentle rain, not the bucket-loads we got last night. I will be back to chat tomorrow. Waving to all my Pokey (and not so Pokey) friends.

Sorry I hadn't checked in here yet. Happy October! All that rain and the threat of flooding does NOT sound pleasant, nylene . I hope the drains hold. Can't even imagine "mid 80s" this time of year, joyfulnana . But this fall has been even cooler than usual. Near freezing today. This last dump of snow missed us, thank goodness. We have our garden all harvested, and the renters are out there right now harvesting their wheat from our fields. They just need a couple more days... I have never frozen eggs, LisaDV , but I remember the boom or bust supply amounts from living on a farm as a child. (Still applies to things like zucchini, but not to eggs or milk or cream like in those days) I would certainly bake with them as much as possible. Baked goods DO keep really well in the freezer. BTW, do you have the recipe--or the irons--for Norwegian Rosette Cookies? They were a go-to recipe for my mil when she had a lot of eggs. Somehow I think she started out with more eggs than this recipe calls for, but she made HUGE batches of these delightful treats! Hope you get to scrap soon, msliz . I have finished only one page so far, but have put together several cards. Most are Christmas cards. I didn't get a kit set up for the kit game, but I did pull out some of my favourite Chistmas supplies, so I have been able to use it for the CardTober challenges. Next week, dh will be gone for a few days, so I plan an impromptu 3 day crop all by myself here at home. I spent most of today lying around. Got my cortisone shot in my left knee this morning, and have learned from experience that the best thing to do is to let it rest for a couple of days so the cortisone acts on the inflammation right where it needs it most. No new dog yet. Had a call on Sunday about a possibility but have not heard back from them so maybe they found someone else to give that dog to. Getting a little late in the season, now, but who knows...

Good morning ladies! I am off work until Monday and really hope to get my butt into my scraproom and get several layouts done. I know there are LLS in the area, but looking at their websites, I haven't been too impressed, but I think I may go check one of them out this weekend just to see. M's has some kids make and take workshops on Saturday through the Christmas holidays and I'm thinking of taking bub this weekend. Not like I really need to be setting foot in a craft store. My shopping has gotten a little out of hand lately lol. LisaDV no help on the egg surplus but it sounds like you are getting some great ideas! I hope you find your dream house soon and that the move will go quickly for you. nylene I hope everything held and the drains were enough to keep the flooding away and that the rain stops soon! Cleaning up from flooding, even if it's minor is no fun. grammadee I saw someone post on FB about some snow in Canada, I want to say it was in Alberta, but I'm not certain. Anyway it was A LOT! And deep! Sounds like you are all ready now for the snow to fly, at least with things around the house. I hope your shot goes to work quickly and you are back to normal soon! msliz hope you get to scrap soon! Waving hi to everyone in the group hope you have a wonderful day!

Our new drains and the city's cleaned drain at the corner held last night. The water came so fast and just poured down our driveway. It has rained all morning, but just normal rain, not a deluge. They predict one more night of intense rain this week and then it will clear up until next week. Our son was going to bring his digger to help with the drains after the last flood, but he just had shoulder surgery and can't run the machine. DH dug both drains by hand. You wouldn't believe the big rocks he dug out. We have rocks instead of soil here! LisaDV and woodysbetty, how is the house hunting progressing. I hope you find the perfect place for your family. kellyr21, how is your weather? We are getting the rain from your area, so I'm sure you are getting a lot too. Did you hang your wreath? joyfulnana, I should send you some Autumn leaves. Our trees in the valley are starting to turn. When the snow flies I would love to send you A WHOLE BUNCH. We have been to Florida several times, always in Feb. and love leaving the snow behind for warmer weather. justlisa7, how is the new baby doing? grammadee, I am enjoying your cards. I need to make some, but I'm in a layout mood right now. Good luck on the dog search. @elaynef, I have thought of you a lot. How is the reconstruction coming? Do you have a completion projection date? I know you will love it when it's finished. justjac, it's fun to see you checking in with the October challenge. How is the LOAD doing? msliz, you did so many great layouts last month. I hope you get a chance to scrap soon. patin, I see that you are doing the Challenge again this month but we are on opposite teams. I look forward to your layouts.

nylene we found our floor plan in the Villages but now have the huge task of prepping and selling our current home...fortunately i have been sorting and purging for a couple of months but it still feels like a huge task! The funniest part was the 3 boxes of my married DD's stuff, mostly high school memories. We packed it up and shipped it to her ...now she gets to deal with it!! LOL!

Happy October everyone. joyfulnana there was a really big snowfall in southern Alberta, but fortunately it missed both grammadee and me. It is still colder than usual, though. nylene good luck with your flooding. Hopefully you stay dry. LOAD is Broadway themed which doesn’t strike that big a chord with me, but I still enjoy the daily prompts. LisaDV egg salad is my only big egg user. My hip/lower back improved and then relapsed. I’m currently waiting for physio. It’s not bad; it just aches a bit and stops me from being as active as I’d like. Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend so we’re off to my mom’s on Saturday. I hope the car ride doesn’t lead to me tightening right up. I will share my layouts when I get home. I will be doing digital pages this weekend.

LOL, I have an entire room filled with youngest DD's stuff. Until a year ago they always lived in a tiny apt. in CA. They now have a home, but will have to get a trailer to take everything home. She has a beautiful cedar chest that her brother built for her while he was in High School and a chest of drawers he built later. I know she would love to have them....it's a long drive. Good luck with the purging, cleaning and selling. I'm glad you have found a new place.
justjac, I am sorry about your back and hip. Take it easy on your trip. Stop and walk if you can.
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Pokeys! I hope you have a great feast.

Hey ladies and happy October! I hope you all have been having a nice day. I haven't been feeling well but today so far is better. Just regular monthly stuff, you know. Finally took some pictures of that wreath I made. I hadn't looked at it in a few weeks. But when I looked at it again today, I do really like it. The picture doesn't show it but I painted some gold paint on the wreath in spots and the orange leaves have some gold in them. It is a small wreath so I may give it to my mom or mil. Fall Wreath by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr nylene - Thanks for the new thread. You always keep us going. I am hoping that the rain slows down and no more flooding in your area. We haven't got any rain that I am aware of but I see those clouds hovering. LisaDV - I know your dream house is out there. Praying you find what you are looking for soon. I have been hoping to move at some point. Fingers crossed we can do it next year. We need more space! Yeah, that wall heater ideas are still in play. Gotta try a few more things. woodysbetty - I hope you can sell your home soon. Are you just moving in your same area or far? grammadee - Whatever doggy ends up coming to live with you is gonna be so happy! Farm with lots of running around room is a dogs dream. Do you have a particular type of pooch you want? Good luck! Waving hello to you all and have a super evening!

Hi kellyr21!! Nice to hear from you and glad you are feeling better!! I love that wreath - so bright and colorful!! We are moving from Maryland to the Villages in Florida so it is quite a distance. I am a bundle of nerves flowing from fear to excitement and everything in between. I am going to a yoga teacher training weekend that starts today and ends late Sunday so at least I will burn off some excess prana (energy). I am bringing some Holiday card fronts to color on breaks so I can keep fingers busy too! Hope everyone has a great Friday and plays a little for World Carding making day tomorrow!

msliz, my dh would love me so much if I made him bread pudding! Great idea. Thanks. Sorry you've been too busy to scrap. I hope you get some you times soon. nylene, I'm so happy that the drains are working and you're avoiding flooding! nylene & justjac, egg salad is a good idea. DS has been making deviled eggs more often. justjac, those layouts are awesome. Each is so different and so beautiful. I love when you do LOAD so I can see your work. I hope your hip/lower back heals quickly. ouch. joyfulnana, I hope you are enjoying your long weekend. kellyr21, beautiful wreath!! You are so talented. I'm glad you are feeling better. woodysbetty, you will have fun at your yoga teacher training weekend! That's a great way to destress. grammadee, I don't have the irons for those cookies, but that recipe only calls for 2 eggs, not one that I would think of as egg busting. But they are quite delicious. I haven't had them for a long time. But thank you for the suggestion, as it did get me thinking of deserts that use eggs since I was only thinking of meals. Now we're thinking of making pavlova, pound cake, and pudding. justlisa7, I know you are off enjoying that new grandbaby. I'm trying to whiff that new baby smell from here and squealing at new baby feet. I love new baby feet. They're just so adorable. @elaynef, waving hi. Don comes home tonight and it's due to rain all day tomorrow. It's been raining a lot this week. bleh. Although yesterday was 74! It was so nice. DS is making french toast for lunch which means I don't have to make lunch. Hurray for me. I started cleaning up and then got sucked into the Pea universe. oops. So I guess I should get back to work.

Happy Friday! I have been having fun playing with the CardTober challenges with a lot of old stash that has been hidden away in my Christmas cupboard, some of it for years. Seems like every new card I put together gives me an idea for about 5 more--and sometimes the scraps to actually create those 5. I like that the challenges are getting me to see my stuff in a different way. Here are four of them so I can claim some pokey points: cardtober 5 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Cardtober #4 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr CardTober #3 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr kitchen foil tree by Gramma Dee, on Flickr My knee was much better today than it has been for a long time, but then I forgot about it, stood up and started walking too fast (not fast fast, but fast for me) and it tweaked it. So back to babying it again.

Wow kellyr21 that wreath is so pretty! I used to do other crafts, then scrapbooking stole my heart and all my crafty time and money lol. My long weekend has not gone according to plan. I have had no mojo at all. Looking through the gallery is always so inspiring and makes me want to get into my room. My photos are a mess. So unorganized, I'm probably going to be doing more organizing than scrapping this month. msliz I love bread pudding. And custard! justjac I hope the ride this weekend doesn't mess with you too much. woodysbetty yoga teacher trainer sounds so interesting. I like yoga, but haven't developed a consistent enough practice. I hope everyone is having a good weekend! Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!!

Good Sunday morning! None of our kids were able to come to the farm for Thanksgiving. We are celebrating today with dh’s sister’s family. Yesterday I made pumpkin pies to take. I also need to pop a ham in the oven later but a pretty easy day. Hope to take on the days car challenge this morning. justjac , I hope you arrived at your mom’s safely. Happy thanksgiving to your family! I hope the rains slow down there, nylene . Even if all the drains are working, that does not sound like fun. I have been enjoying all your pages. I hope to get back into mine this next week. I am having fun with the cards. I find them quicker and easier to meet challenges with: no need to find photos that work or stuff that matches the pics. And since Christmas has exploded all over my scrap room, materials for Christmas cards are EVERYWHERE! joyfulnana I hope you find your mojo soon. Did you say you were organizing your room? Maybe it’s hidden in there somewhere. Envying all the baby snuggles, justlisa7 . Take lots of photos. They change so fast. Every new season I miss scrapincin anew. Yesterday the little turtle icons disappeared for awhile and I was hit with the loss again. I was so happy when they reappeared. That dancing turtle always makes me smile. I was thinking you will need someone else to talk football with on the board, kellyr21 , and then I remembered patin ’s football pages. You two can maybe be football buds here Anyway, time to wrap this up. Waving hello to msliz , @elaynef , woodysbetty , LisaDV , and anyone else I may have forgotten

Just a quick note. We have a lot going on this week. DH is having another biopsy and I need to have my eye checked again. It seems to be worse than last time. Plus more radiation treatments for DH. If I don't get back before the end of the week, just know we are still here, just in the car or in waiting rooms. BTW, the drains held all week and we have only a couple of days this week to watch.
Have a great week, all my Pokey Friends.

nylene I will be thinking of you this week. So much going on for you! I'm glad the drains held at least! grammadee I did find my mojo after clearing my off the table and decided to finish up last years Christmas photos. I now have two LO's I need to get posted. So it's wasn't a total waste of time off lol. So kellyr21 is a football fan? I was a rabid NFL fan in the late 90's early 2000's but I have slowly stopped following over the years. Which is ironic since I live what would you could call "next door" to Chiefs stadium now. I can hear the roar of the crowd and the even sometimes the Tomahawk Chop cheer through my closed windows lol. It makes going anywhere on home game Sunday impossible the traffic is so crazy. I only found out today they were 4-1 (now 5-1) lol. justlisa7 I hope the little one is doing well, I only have the one GS I'm not sure how I would do babysitting 3! We had movie and no bedtime night Friday night. I was done by 9 but he was still going strong at 11:00! Waving hello to everyone! Hope you've had a great weekend!

Happy Monday Everyone!! Yoga training was intense but fun...I had forgotten the muscle awareness that practicing more advanced postures for so many hours brings!! LOL! Someone snapped a shot of me in Compass pose that as I look at it kind of makes me laugh because my course manual & reading glasses are on the floor in front of me and the pic has me with one leg completely behind a shoulder !! Not too shabby for an over 50 yogi!! Definitely scrappin that one!! grammadee love your cards...take care of your knee!! Ouch! justlisa7 hope the little one is feeling better and you are getting lots of baby love in!! nylene - so glad goad you are mostly "dry" know that my thoughts and healing energy are with you as you face all those appointments! joyfulnana - sometimes my practice consists of a deep breath in, deep breath out...so yours is probably more consistent than you think!!

Happy Tuesday! I am having a nice day so far and hope you all are too. I hope this week I can get back on track with some of my craft projects and home décor. I am almost finished with the front room and kitchen. Thanks for all the praise about my Fall wreath. I did like it tilted to the side but it look good with the flowers in the center bottom too. I would like to make another one for Christmas.
justlisa7 - Yes, I make floral paintings. I started learning how this year watching YouTube videos and now I am hooked! LOL! I want to make more and keep practicing. Great to hear your dgs is here and bringing you all such joy. I hope the little guy feels better soon.
nylene - Hugs to ya! Hang in there and keep taking care of you.
joyfulnana - I like watching football and now that we have two teams here in the Los Angeles area it is exciting. Oh wow, you live next to the Chiefs? They have a new outstanding quarterback and my dh and recently watched his game. I hope the team does well. My in-laws live right next to the new stadium that is being built here. I think they aren't gonna like that Sunday traffic. your experience sounds frustrating. They are upgrading the whole surrounding area so in time I hope the residents enjoy all the new shops, restaurants and etc. So for now I am a Rams fan and my dh is a BIG Eagles fan.
grammadee - What pretty cards you made. I love all the variety. I know you had fun making these cards. Although my card mojo is still m.i.a. I was thinking of cards for Christmas today while watching HSN craft day. Yeah, I miss scrapincin too. I miss talking football with her. I know she would love to see how beloved home team doing well so far. Thanks for referring me to patin .
patin - Hey grammadee says you are a football fan! So cool! I do like to watch the LA Rams our new LA Team. I like watching some other teams like the Eagles because that is y dh's favorite team. What team or teams are your favorites?
woodysbetty - Wow, you are really making a big move! But it is gonna be a great place to live with all that year round warmth. Best wishing to ya with all that. Girl, you are flexible with what you described from your retreat! LOL! Glad it was good medicine for you. I have practiced yoga over the years and this year I discovered Sarah Starr and her tranquil chair yoga. I love all the natural settings she uses and enjoy watching her You Tube videos. I just need to get more consistent. #struggle
justjac - You have been busy scrappin away!!! Congrats to ya. I hope you are feeling better too.
LisaDV - How are you hanging in there with all the moving and home search stuff?
Hey to msliz and @elaynef! Wishing you all a great evening!

I hadn't heard of Sarah Starr but I am definitely going to check out her videos...they sound wonderful!! My practice ebbs and flows too..and I teach yoga!! LOL!

How time flies!! I have thought of the Pokey Peas and how I need to check in but realized that it has been a year! I am not sure how I let that happen.
I am up getting ready to go to water aerobics and hopefully can check in later after DH goes to work.
I see a few new faces since I last checked in!

I am home from water aerobics and it is a cool, cloudy day. This is the first cool day we have really had this month. I am not really ready to give up warm weather and my capri's!
In the last year, I lost my cat Felix. He was 14. He broke my heart! DH and I didn't see eye to eye when it came to him getting ill. He had been losing weight but seemed to be acting fine. He had a check-up in December and he was alright. Then I noticed he had lost a little more weight in April and took him back to the vet. His labs weren't that bad and the vet thought he had the start of kidney disease. He did have some abscessed teeth he noticed. I had him stay with the vet and he had dentistry. He came home and I was feeding him liquids and soft food and I thought he was improving. Then he started acting funny and I think he had a few seizures. It went downhill from there. 😢 We miss Mr. Felix.
I was lost without a cat in the house. Miss Phoebe, my pug, was my only pet. I realized I had owned a cat for 29 years! I went to a local rescue group here and acquired about a kitten. They suggested I watch their website and facebook page for new arrivals. They had a video they had posted about a tortoiseshell kitten that was too cute!! I put in an application and it was approved a couple of days later! She even asked if I would take her sister too as they had bonded and I said yes! I have two adorable kittens that I named Sophia and Lola. They get into all kinds of mischief together but I love all the purrs and snuggles. Phoebe was so excited when I brought them home but she will snap at them when she snuggles with me and they are nearby. For the most part, they are all friends now.
In about a month, I am going to a weekend crop that is nearby. I can't wait! I have a few ideas that I want to do. I also need to start scrapbooking the kittens.
I just got a text from work and they are extremely short. I am going to work and now need to get a nap!

Hey knutschen! Good to hear from you. It is sad to lose a long time pet. Glad you now have a couple of kittens. Our search for another farm dog continues. It seems that people are more likely to give away male dogs than female, and we are looking for a girl to be a companion for the male we have now. justjac and I have a crop in a couple of weeks (actually in about 9 days!). Looking forward to that. Have you checked out all the challenges that are on the board now? Might help you plan for your crop. And thanks for the decorating update, kellyr21. Hope you get a chance to do some crafting as you had planned. Are you making Christmas cards for sale this year? Thinking of you, nylene. Hoping there is something they can do about your eye!!! And that your dh's biopsy doesn't reveal any more issues. Also thinking about woodysbetty and LisaDV with all your moving activity. Glad things are settling into place, woodysbetty. Had a bit of golf cart fun myself today: I took it out this morning to give our dog a run, but I got it stuck on a bit of ice! I was able to maneuver it so that I got the back tires on more grass than snow, and got it moving again. It was frustrating, but the dog was so happy to have someone out there with him and bouncing around in such excitement, that I had to laugh. I have been making a lot of Christmas cards with the CardTober challenges, but the last couple of days I have been working on pages: seven done so far. Got a slower start than I had planned today b/c I have the warnings of a migraine. But after a bit of quiet time and then my outdoor adventure, I think I am ready to dive back into my scrappy stuff.
