Do you have a printer, any kind, at home?
I am just surprised at the number of people that do not, especially those with kids still in school. They are so inexpensive now. I see co-workers printing out stuff for their kids at work, or saying they have to run to Kinko's later to print out some stuff.

Laser color is on my wishlist! Heck, I also want one that is wireless! LOL! Mine is old, but I keep it because it has a back feed on it, which I can't find on newer printers.

For awhile no - I was tired of ink jet printers drying up ink because I didn't use it enough. I recently bought a black/white laser printer. Since toner doesn't dry up I think it'll work out well. I got it for less than $100. I thought about a color one, but frankly, I don't print color much so went the cheaper route.

the printers are cheap yes, but the the real expense is in the ink and toner. that's where they get you. some people think they have to use brand ink for their specific printer (or void the warranty) and they wind up spending tons of $$$ buying it from Office Depot or Staples instead of off brand on Ebay or wherever.

LOL.

I was very happy to find generic HP ink at Office Dept. The refills at Costco didn't work for my printer sadly.

No. The environmental damage caused by printer ink cartridges is not something I feel ok about adding to.

I do but I only use it a few times a year so it never fails that the ink is dried up when I need it. I ruined a printer with generic ink a few years ago so I suck it up and buy the branded ink now.

yes, a wireless laser printer / scanner. We don't have to print very often, so we went through a couple inkjet printers, and wasted money on multiple ink cartridges (that would always be dried out when I finally DID want to print) before we finally decided to buy a cheap-ish laser printer-- the savings on ink cartridges more than made up for the price difference. I sometimes wish it was a large-bed scanner / printer so I could use it for scrapbooking, but it really wasn't that important to me.

My kids are in college and almost everything they produce is submitted electronically. Google docs was heavily used in HS and I think the college has their own platform. Even the reports I submit could all be done without printing anything as they are submitted electronically. I'm old school and still like to edit a paper copy.

Yes, I have a Canon printer, about five years old.
I buy the cheapie cartridges from Amazon.
I print hotel, tour, etc confirmations when I go out of the country in case I cannot access it from my phone.
Way back I used to buy printer paper in a giant box at Sams.
Now I get a single pack from Target and it lasts years.

Yes. I use it for eBay and paper piecing patterns for quilting frequently. We use it for enough other things that I can't imagine not having one. DD hasn't bothered to get one and just uses ours when she comes over, although her apartment complex has a couple in their computer room that she could use just as easily. It's just easier to come to mom's and do a little "pantry shopping" while she's printing! yes, laser color. we used to have up to three printers at home when they were wired. now that we can be on a wireless network, i just print from DH's printer in the other room. I am currently shopping for a laser color printer right now. Tired of the cost of refills. Would love to know which model you went with and any pros/cons to it. Not really interested in a scanner feature. I'm finding it much easier to use a scanner app on my iPhone X for no more scanning that I do.

No. The environmental damage caused by printer ink cartridges is not something I feel ok about adding to. one thing we've always done since they started it, is to recycle our cartridges. Staples used to credit you a couple of buck for each cartridge or we mailed them back to the company (HP gave you pre-printed labels). now we take them to e-waste places. i'm at work right now staring at 5 boxes of toner that need to go to e-waste. i don't think we have ever just pitched cartridges in the trash.

I’m always confused by people who justify things by saying “oh, it’s ok, we recycle”. Recycling isn’t the same thing as not causing environmental damage. It’s a small step up from just tossing it in the trash, but still causes lots of damage. Reducing is a far bigger, better, and more important step. I almost think recycling has done more harm than good because it’s produced this whole “it doesn’t matter, I recycle” mindset. Just like people who think plastic bags aren’t a problem because “I recycle”.

We have 2 wireless ones. Our kids are in a virtual charter school and they sent us one for each student. With ODS we get on free black refill a year. YDS is in a life skills class and for that reason alone we get unlimited black and color cartridges for his printer. ODS doesn't need to print much, but YDS has to print at least 2 pages daily for classes. Overall for personal use we don't print that much so I just use theirs if I need to or DH can print at work, but it's rare we need to.

Yes, but we use it so rarely that it isn't even plugged in. DD never has to print for school - everything is turned in digitally.

We have 2 - an inkjet multipurpose one (that also is used as a fax machine for my husband's business) and a color laser one (used mainly for my husband's business). Look for sales on Amazon. We got the laser one for around $120 - it's a Brothers and it works really well.

We have a black and white laser printer. We rarely use it, but we do occasionally need it, so we keep it around. DS doesn't have to print anything for school - everything is either handwritten or turned in digitally.
