She's a reader and is looking forward to cooler temps and patio reading. She loves thrillers such as any by Gillian Flynn/Megan Miranda/Jessica Knoll, which she has read most of theirs. She is also looking for non-fiction books about powerful women.
I know the Peas can give me a list to pass on to her. Help!

Has she read any Jodi Picoult books? She covers a lot of different issues and has written many books. I like Brad Metzler books- US history with interesting story lines. I do not read a lot of non fiction books- hope someone else can help there! I would be interested in reading about strong women!

I just read Kristen Hannah's The Great Alone. Pretty well done and I was kept wondering what would happen for most of the book.

She has read Jodi and has several on her bookshelves.
I started The Great Alone and just couldn't finish. Of course, it was checked out from the library and I didn't have time to get it finished. Good?

For the thrillers I'd also recommend Liane Moriarty, B.A. Paris and Ruth Ware.
I also LOVE Michelle Moran's historical fiction novels. They are all focused on women in history like Nefertiti, Madam Tussaud, Mata Hari, etc. I think she has about 7 or 8 novels out along that theme. They are great, and fairly quick reads.

The Last Mrs Parrish is a good thriller. Another book I really liked, not a thriller, was The Hate You Give. It also is a soon to be released movie.

OP has she read any of the Jonathan Kellerman stuff? Robert Crais has a good procedural series about a PI, more detective than thriller but a solid series nonetheless.

Thriller wise I love Sandra Brown, Chevy Stevens everything I’ve read from them is always good.

PolarGreen12 She LOVED Big Little Lies on HBO by Liane. I have 1 or 2 of her books at home that I haven't read yet. I will tell her about those and the Michelle Moran books. scrapngranny, those are going on the list. I wonder why I haven't heard about the movie one. Need to look that up. bethany102399 I don't know. They don't sound like any of the ones I have seen on her shelf. But again, I will tell her about those. elaine shoot, I just gave my Poisonwood Bible copy to Goodwill. I did a big book purge at the beginning of summer. She hasn't read but has watched The Handmaid's Tale and Alias Grace. I have always wanted to read the Joy Luck Club myself. And Like Water for Chocolate. NoWomanNoCry and ntsf thank you for your suggestions. She should have quite a list going soon!

For non-fiction about women: Lab Girl by Hope Jahren Wild by Cheryl Strayed I have Wild and loved the movie. She loves Reece Witherspoon so this will probably get passed on to her. Thanks!

Yes, she LOVED All the Missing Girls and I think the other book by Megan was read by her. THAT is the type of book she likes. She actually likes anything dealing with serial killers. I told her about the Golden Gate Killer book. I don't think she has read that one yet. I need to remind her of that one.

Read "The Broken Girls" over the summer. VERY suspensful! It's by Simone St. James.
Another book I wanted to read but could not find while I was Stateside and looked so very interesting is "The Perfect Mother" by Aimee Molley.

A few of my favorite 5+ Star books.......
BEFORE WE WERE YOURS by Lisa Wingate. TAKING FLIGHT by Adrian Magnuson. I LET YOU GO & I SEE YOU by Clare Mackintosh. LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE by Celeste Ng. IN THE BLOOD & CRAZY LOVE YOU by Lisa Unger. HOW I LOST YOU by Jenny Blackhurst.
If she likes dogs, the entire Howl Series by JK Brandon is very good. 10 books, all really easy reads, told thru the “voice” of the dogs.
One last one I’m currently finishing (at 83%) THE HOME FOR UNWANTED GIRLS by Joanna Goodman. Probably one of my favorite books of all time; definitely 5+ Stars. A recommendation from the TwoPeas weekly reading thread.

Educated by Tara Westover is a non-fiction book about a strong woman that I enjoyed reading this year.
I mostly read historical fiction so if your DD is open to that here are a few I've read about strong women in this genre
Flight of the Sparrow by Amy Belding Brown The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira The Taster by V.S. Alexander The Woman in the Photo by Mary Hogan
These are all about strong women. You can check out what they are about and read a few reviews on goodreads.com Goodreads also has lots of lists of books that you can look at under several different catagories. It's a great way to find new reading material.

Has she read anything by Karin Slaughter? If not, I'd recommend the Grant County series first. There are crossover characters, and major spoilers if you read the Will Trent series first. Her stand alone books are good too. J.D. Robb's In Death series is good too.

Patricia Cromwell's Kay Scarpetta series.
Rachel Caine's Stillhouse Lake series
I enjoyed The Alienist. The mini-series was not quite true to the book.

I really liked the book "Educated: A Memoir" by Tara Westover. It's definitely written by a strong woman who was a survivor from a childhood in which she had parents who were survivalists. It was a page turner for me.
