Eh up ducks! The card today is fairly simple - I think! Here's a look at the inspiration card from Pinterest and my Halloween Hexagons version. I opted to make this easy for myself, leaving all but one hexagon flat on the printed card front. And then I got my cut settings wrong and cut out all the hexagons. Fortunately you can hardly tell that I got it wrong. Your challenge today, should you choose to accept it, is to use the sketch in any way you like. This post will self-destruct.... Sketches and TemplatesFor those who like sketches and templates I have a few for you. There are two sizes: - 2Peas-Cardtober-06A - A4 size where the card is halved to make a C6 size base of 4.13 x 5.845-inches
- 2Peas-Cardtober-06B - letter size where the card is halved to make an A6 size base of 4.25 x 5.5-inches
In the zip file you will find: - 2Peas-Cardtober-06A.psd - Photoshop template size 4.13 x 5.845-inches
- 2Peas-Cardtober-06B - Photoshop template size 4.25 x 5.5-inches
- 2Peas-Cardtober-06 - SVG for both card sizes suitable for Silhouette Studio
- 2Peas-Cardtober-06A and B - JPG images for both card sizes
You can find the download here: 2Peas-Cardtober-06 Supplies: I get many of my supplies from The Hungry JPEG bundles so often they are much cheaper than when bought separately. As someone who likes to know where I can get more stuff if I want it, I leave this information purely for your pleasure Happy cardmaking Saturday!
P.S. You can watch while you craft too. Here's my Halloween Hexagons in Silhouette Studio YouTube video - it's about half an hour or so because I do like explaining the process

Thanks, JaneB love the idea of hexes and Halloween. But I have been wondering what to do for my dgd’s birthday card. This will definitely get me started. And since my Christmas scrappy supplies have exploded all over my craft room, I am thinking my hexagon dies might get a workout on some of those, too.

Great idea and card JaneB! And with the sketch and template you've made it so easy. Now let's see what I can come up with...

Oh wow, what a wealth of inspiration and resources! I love sewing hexies, so this should be fun. Wondering if I should color the hexie papers I have for English Paper Piecing and use those on a card, or do something with my actual sewn hexies (photographic, scanned, crazy fabric card??!) or if I should plug in my ScanNCut and do something more like what you've made. I also have a honeycomb/hexie stencil... wish I had a bee stamp... but maybe I can find something online I like... Thinking aloud here in case it helps anyone else's process. Also, I'm going to challenge myself to try to put the sentiment where you have it. I usually put mine in the lower right, but today might be the day I find another spot for some words. Thanks for sharing Jane I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's lovely hexies.

Okay, two hex cards done. This first one is a little closer to the sketch, but I have to admit that once I started on the card itself I didn't look at the sketch again until now. I loved the way the hexagons flowed down (or up) the card, so I kept to that general pattern. I also liked the dimension. I popped one hex up, and cut out a hexagon in the panel so I could stamp the greeting behind it. My dgd has a black cat she loves, so I loved the idea to put him on her card as well. Thanks, JaneB! hex bday by Gramma Dee, on Flickr This second one is a hex Christmas card, inspired partly by this challenge, and partly by the Pinterest search this challenge led me to. I had fun doing a bunch of foiling this morning, and then cut the hexagons from the foiled pieces. The original plan was to put the candy cane foiled piece right behind the tree, but that hurt the eyes, so I inserted a piece of leftover vellum from an earlier project. cardTober #6 hex Christmas by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I have trouble capturing foiled pieces in a photograph. They look quite dark here, but IRL they shimmer and shine. They are all Gina K Designs "fancy foils" and have kind of a holographic effect, sparkling different colours.

I love this sketch! I’m traveling but when I get home I think I will make some Christmas cards with it.

grammadee I'm glad to be of service in the placing of black cats I like both your cards, they're brilliant, but I am especially impressed by the Christmas tree in hexagons. Marvellous idea that I may well pinch in the future!

Well I ditched the sketch and template. Sorry! And I don't have any hexagons, except for MFT Mini Chicken Wire die. I cut that with silver glitter paper and used the LF Fab Flowers to create a flower garden. Attachments:

Using chicken wire for hexagons is a wonderful way to meet the challenge, GiantsFan! I love that you used silver and that some of the flowers are poking through the fence. What a perfect card design for that stamp set, scrapnnana! Love the saying, the colours & patterns, and of course the stamped best friends.

Here is another one for me with a fall theme. This will be for my niece whose bd is later this month. It doesn't follow the sketch/template much, but it DOES use hexagons! hex bd 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

nylene it's lovely! Using patterned paper for the hexagons works well, especially as you have made sure we can see the pattenr, like Santa and the little houses.

Oh, wow, I love everyone's takes on the hexagons! I need to come back and look closer. I was tempted to pull out a honeycomb hex stencil, but I had pre-cut cardboard English paper piecing hexies in my sewing box so I based my card around those. They were a bigger scale than the example so I flowed them as best I could onto the card in the direction the sketch used. I started with fussy cutting a striped paper from Shimelle's Starshine but I couldn't make that look good with a background so I flipped the pieces over and tried it again with the globe papers. Much better, I think. I've had these scraps for too long so I was happy to be able to use turn them into something, even if it's a bit random. I tried to put the sentiment in the corner I never use but the hot air balloon just looked better in the middle. Cardtober day 6: hexagon globes by jo.blackford, on Flickr

my cardtober challenge #6 card. I am fresh out of mojo so I followed the sketch exactly. The papers are scraps from my stash. Hexagon punch by stampin up and the sentiment and stitched rectangle die are from mft stamps. Stickles dots, because strangely enough, I have no red sequins. 😮

joblackford. that is a most excellent card. I love the globes with the hot air balloon, what a wonderful idea
gale w you might have followed the sketch but your choice of colour and paper has made a gorgeous card. I really like it

joblackford, it was interesting to read your process. I like how you used the hexagons to frame the earths, but most of all, I love the hot air balloon in the middle. I am a sucker for hot air balloons.
gale w, I see nothing wrong with using the sketch exactly. Your choice of papers resulted in a great card.
