I'm just about to watch it.
I'm really looking forward to it.
Feel free to jump in and discuss.
Warning - Probable spoilers.

No
Honestly, the show only interests me when I'm attracted to the Doctor. I didn't watch 12 and don't really have any interest in watching 13.

No. It's the first time I haven't been excited to watch it. I've seen trailers and I'm just not interested.

My daughter has been binge watching all week because she's so excited! I don't get the hate for a woman being the next doctor. The show's been going for what? Like 50 years? It's not like there's been a consistent story line with this series where it would be odd if it was a woman.

Loved it!
I live in Sheffield, and recongnised so many of the locations. Hunter House Road in the early scene where Yasmin first appeared. One of the steepest roads in Sheffield, and parking is a total nightmare! Bus interchange Tinsley Viaduct Sheffield United Football Ground Shrewsbury Road in the last scene.
I have been on the train between Grindleford and Hathersage a time or two as well.
Great fun!

Liked it. Sci-fi geek here. She's quirky and thoughtful. I will give her a chance.

We loved it. It has been our family tradition to sit around the couch on Saturday nights to watch the new episode. I'm a bit sad about it moving to Sunday nights, but we really enjoyed the episode today! I'm looking forward to the rest of the season! I was a bit worried when they announced such a dramatic change, but I think they did a great job with her character.
All I want is an alien with 2 hearts of gold and a bit nerdy who can swoop in and help humans save the world. I don't need a love story. I don't need a character that is overtly male or female. Gender does not matter to me for this character.

I liked it.
I'm going to watch it again tonight, to catch anything I missed the first time.
I will say that I liked that she is not overtly feminine, and in your face sexy. If she'd come out of the dressing room in something frilly that you can't run and face monsters in, I wouldn't have liked it.

My decision not to watch has nothing to do with the Doctor being a woman btw. I'm still smarting over the way Bill was written out last season and I've just sort of lost interest in it.

No, but I will probably be subjected to it anyway. My son and grandson like to watch, and they like to watch in my living room, whether I want to watch or not. Which I generally don’t.

Die hard DH watched it. I've not been feeling well today so i've been in the other room watching the Packers game laying down. Probably better that way lol! But as far as her - hes says he sees the character and he likes the companions, but her lines are flat. Maybe just needs polishing. I like her from what I saw. We don't care that she was male or female. My favorite is Matt Smith for Dh is Eckleson

I`m more bothered about losing the best scriptwriter ever, Steven Moffat than the gender of the new Doctor. Always loved Dr Who even when I didn`t like the Doc himself.

I really loved Bill. And I thought she brought out the best of the 12th Doctor. I would have loved another season with them two.

Silly DVR didn't record the world simulcast for some reason, so I have it set to record the Special Edition broadcast of the episode tonight. Funny, it recorded the 30-minute show right before. Oh well, will watch while letting TWD queue up tonight.

We are halfway through and enjoying it and the new doctor quite a bit. We never did warm to Peter Capaldi either.

Capaldi was the victim of an incompatible companion for most of his time. I enjoyed him in the part, and enjoyed him even more with Bill as the companion.

I watched it again, and love Jodie as the doctor very much. I love how her engineering side is showing itself so well. Love how capable she is. She's not looking for anyone to handle the problems for her. (I was worried that the writers would write a beautiful damsel in distress with a male companion that "fixes" her. Glad that wasn't the case)
I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Loving Bradley Walsh as Graham too. He is a fantastic actor. Loved him in the UK version of Law and Order. He is hilarious on The Chase.

Capaldi was the victim of an incompatible companion for most of his time. I enjoyed him in the part, and enjoyed him even more with Bill as the companion. That! omg Clara! I never really liked Capaldi, and Clara was awful. I LOVED this new one though! Way back when they first announced that the new Doctor would be a woman my first reaction wasn't 100% supportive. But then I started thinking about it and realized why not? lol. And given what's going on in the USA right now in politics I think it's a fun coincidence. Love how she broke the glass ceiling. (surely that was done on purpose to mean just what "breaking the glass ceiling" means...?) I loved when she said to the alien about cheating: "So you broke the rules. Some leader you're going to make." hahaha I liked how they developed the other people a bit before they introduced the Doctor...reminded me of Rose who has always been my favorite companion. I thought the scene of her picking out her outfit was funny, and I like her choice. I'm glad the writers have not made her cute and curvy and flirtatious. Yeah, I'm looking forward to this Doctor! eta: Also I loved that they showed "Blink" between the simulcast of the premiere and the repeat of the premiere laster in the evening. That's one of my all-time favorites. Very scary.

Do I need to watch any previous seasons to understand what is going on? No, it's a stand-alone in the sense that the story is a new one. But you really should be familiar with the basic premise of Doctor Who to really enjoy it. If you are interested in watching more episodes go back and start with "Rose". But if you don't want to watch old episodes you could just go to Wiki and read the general overview of the series.

I thought she was really good. She reminds me of a female David Tennant in her mannerisms.
