Hello again! I hope everyone is enjoying playing along with the CARDtober challenges so far. As luck would have it, my posting date this week falls on my birthday - 10/10, and challenge number 10. Logic might say my challenge would involve the number 10 somehow, but nope. When planning my challenges for the month, I knew this one would center on a birthday theme, and since it’s my birthday, I pulled out my favorite colors to work with when I began creating my sample. For #10, let’s make a birthday card and make it sparkle to brighten someone’s special day! As an extra challenge to those two elements, use the color combo of teal/aqua, with navy blue and gray/silver. Sparkles can be anything shiny. Sequins, glitter, Stickles, Nuvo drops, enamel dots, etc. Here is my sample for this week, using a shaker with sequins for my sparkle. I also inked a gray background through a stencil, used navy blue for the sentiment, and made the focus with the star in teal: CARDtober challenge #10 by saralovestocreate, on Flickr Thanks for playing along!

Love your card, @lovetocreate, and Happy Birthday! My dgd turns 8 today. She was born 10-10-10. Will get on this soon. I have some winter bd cards to make, and those colours work perfectly. AND exist in the Christmas supplies that have taken over my scrap room.

It's hard to tell, but I used Nuvo glitter drops in silver and aqua, and Wink of Stella on the word "classic" in the sentiment. The car is a cut-out. It and the sentiment are from the Heartfelt Creations Young at Heart collection. The die-cut is also from Heartfelt Creations, part of their box window die-cut set. A simple "Happy Birthday" sentiment is on the inside.

@scrappnnana, that is a cool card. Love that car with the happy flowers in it. Great way to introduce some sparkle with the clear glitter drops.

Here's a digital birthday card from me because I totally forgot to wish you Happy Birthday earlier! It might look a little familiar....
I liked your example so much I had to try it myself. I'm getting the hang of digital shaker windows - and look at my sequins!! I'm right proud of those, made from scratch and my own styles added too Oh pooh, I forgot the embossed stitching around the edge of the card...

JaneB , I am amazed by how you got the sequins looking so real! I have a Christmas card ready to photograph with these colours, but still trying to figure out what to do for a birthday card.

Grammadee, I love your Christmas card! What did you use for the tree? Did you use a die, or a cutting file? The birthday card is nice, too.

I went in a slightly odd direction with this one, deciding that the silver pebbled paper I had tucked away could be my shiny, and then grabbing the little embossed monster on my desk to color with white and a touch of blue. I'm not sure that a black card really fits the bill, at least in my mind, but this is where the prompt took me. (And at least I finally got something done on this challenge! I'm not sure why I got hung up with this one since I love those colors and shiny/sparkles is not so hard). Looking at the card I wish I'd added the little waving hand to the monster.
