Our account is up for renewal and as I do every fall, I called to try to get a deal, apparently you're no longer allowed to get a deal two years in a row so the best they could do is drop us down to limited channels for $11/mo (plus tax). I said no and said I'd call back tomorrow to cancel. In the past we've gotten about $10/mo for all the channels, am I wrong to assume I can get the same now?

My account just expired, I had the freebie for 3 months. My offer is something like $25 for six months?? (It's at home)... I might renew but my husband has XM in his truck (semi truck...) so I am trying to get him to send me his account number and see if I can link up with his for cheap... just haven't done it yet.

I have renewed both Ds and my car (separate accounts, different addresses, different renewal dates) for six months for a total of $37.50 each or close to it, it was $37 and change each time. Won't pay more than that. I have renewed Ds service three times at the same rate, and mine once after a new car 3-month freebie.
It kinda annoys me that they won't do a year for double the amount, I had to do six months each time for both renewals.
I think both will be coming up for renewal late fall/winter, so we'll see what they say this time.

A couple of months ago I renewed for around $25-$30 for six months.
We have it in two cars so maybe it's more worth their while for two cars.
We don't have any of the premium channels.
I call and ask for the "cancellation department." They ask why I'm leaving and I say that I just really don't even use XM (yes I do!)
So they do the ritual first quoting a higher amount then 1-2 more rounds after they "check with their supervisor." Then I get it.
Funny is then they will say thank you for being a member since 2004.
So it's been about 14 years that I have been going through the BS every 6 months.
But remember to be proactive and call before it expires. I didn't and got the "going rate" charge. I then called and they changed it over but still had to pay the higher amount for the number of days I had it before I switched over to the cheaper rate.

I canceled because their whole policy of how they offer those desks is sleezey and a total pain. If you want me as a loyal customer, offer me a good price without making me call to pretend to cancel.

I don't think you can because they have to have the "code" from your receiver

Yeah, when I cancelled, they kept giving me lower and lower offers. And now I get weekly emails and stuff in the mail from them, begging me to come back.

I canceled and they want me back. They’re offering 6 months for $30. I stream podcasts and don’t miss it at all.

Thanks for the heads up. DH bought a new truck and had free service for 3 months. Yesterday they debited $20 and change from our account for the month. Guess we should give them a call and talk about a better deal.

I’ve had it for 4 years. I call every 5 months and get the 5 months for $30. It’s limited channels but all ones I listen to. I live in an area that has really horrible radio reception and crappy options for channels.

I let it expire. I get offers all the time. Todays was 12 months for $5.99 a month. I still don't want to pay because my commute to work is 2 minutes and I listen to spotify in the car

I get the 5/$25 every 5 months and have for nearly all of the 7+ years that I have had it. The only exception were c couple of 6/$30. I don't even pretend when I call. I am straight forward and tell them I am prepared to cancel and not pretending to play their game. I will cancel and may miss a couple of stations but it isn't worth more to me. I ask for the 6/$30 and they most often come back with the 5/$25. Same difference, so whatever. I am halfway through my 5 months.

I negotiated 3 years of Sirius into the lease on my Acura so basically was getting it for free because the whole lease deal was fantastic. Then I hated the phone integration so much that I had them switch it out so instead of giving me Sirius I got AcuraLink. Win win for them because they were paying Sirius and obviously didn't have to pay themselves. End result was that Sirius was cancelled. I get letters from them weekly with great offers to come back.
Call their bluff if you're willing to do without for a few weeks and just cancel then resign up. That said it is quite freeing not to be playing the Sirius gave every 5 months and now I listen to books on cd instead.

My DH is calling today to “cancel” (another words, play the SiriusXM give-me-a-deal game). Ugh.
Actually, I’m thinking of having him really cancel it. Verizon offered us a chance upgrade to unlimited data for $2 and some change per month. I spend more time sitting in the school pick up lane than actually driving to my grandsons school, so the data plan makes more sense. I have an old car so I can’t stream on my radio, but most of my driving time is short. Plus I’m tired of SiriusXM’s renewal game.

I got it when I got a new car in August but honestly I don't listen to any of the channels except the 80's. I have looked through all the channels and none of them interest me. I have so much music on my phone and I listen to podcasts so unless nothing else is on or I want a change, I don't listen to it. I'm getting that annoying beep telling me to renew but for me it is a total waste of money.

Thanks! When I call back today and insist that my friend got a deal for $25/5mo or $30/6mo I won't be lying. I tried that with the gal yesterday but she just kept reading back the script that because I got a deal last time I couldn't this time Frankly I'd love to cancel it but it's in dh's car and when he goes to the office (once or twice a week) he has a 2hr commute so I can understand why he wants it.

Just call them and hold out until you get a decent deal. i do that every time mine is about to expire (and I have accounts on 2 different vehicles.) They usually have to give me about 3 different offers before I will accept. When they say -- "is that good enough for you to renew?" and I tell them no, I am not willing to pay more than what I have been paying. Usually they tell me they can match it. And my deals only run for about 5-6 months. I always call about 3-4 days before it is set to "auto-renew" (I put the date on my calendar to remind me.) I have not yet been told that they can't do deals consecutively. Give it a try.

I got a year free when I bought my van. At renewal time I could only get a good deal 3 months, and then up to full price. I wanted to pay by the year but for whatever reasoning they have, I can’t get the good pricing that so I said f*ck em. I pay for iTunes and just hook up through Bluetooth. I really miss my channels but I don’t like being gouged. Especially if I’m going to pay in full up front.

I wonder how many people don't care or don't know and just cough up the billed amount every time.

I wonder how many people don't care or don't know and just cough up the billed amount every time. That’s exactly why I didn’t renew. I knew I would forget at the 3 months and get billed the full amount.

My husband just called and canceled. The best offer was 6 months for $30. He went to their website to login and make sure they really canceled the account and there on the front page of their website was the exact same offer. He hadn’t logged in yet, so that must be the current generic offer.
