Almost half way done, so many more challenges and cards so far and yet to go. My nephew played in the 4th/5th grade championship game on Saturday and it was so fun to watch, but sadly they lost. He did a great job and so this card is for him. The challenge is to make a sports themed card. Any sport. Football, baseball, basketball, ballet, dance, cricket, chess, or even badminton. But maybe not hotdog eating contest. Create and have fun.

That is a cute card, warrior1991, and I really want to lift that design, even the plaid. My cards have all been Christmas cards, so this one will force me to change gears. I have a few dgk's in hockey, so maybe I will put together a birthday card for the little guy who turns 7 in January and is a hockey fanatic!

That's a lovely card It's relatively simple but it's also quite dramatic, which is probably the colours you have used and I love the character A sports card, now that's challenge...

Here is mine. Shamelessly copied your card design, warrior1991, and even threw in a little plaid! hockey birthday by Gramma Dee, on Flickr 2janeb is right: sometimes the original design just lodges in your head and it's hard to step very far away from it. I need to "clean my palette" now by using the same card design WITHOUT plaid... Off to rummage through my Christmas supplies...

grammadee Love the card I love hockey. I wish I had a hockey stamp set. Great job with the plaid. Mine were stickers, but your comment made me go looking. Now I want a bunch of these stamps: My heart Hockey StampsWhich is silly, b/c I don't use the stamps I have...

Thanks for the challenge, warrior1991 . I've been working on this card design for over a month. Last week I stamped and colored all the bits and pieces. Today was the day I finally pulled out the adhesive. Now 12 of these are done - 6 for Brighter Birthdays and 6 for my Ronald McDonald House stash. CARDtober Challenge #14 by Pat Doyle, on Flickr

What a loving thing to do, freeatlast! This design is really cool, with everything from the grass to the netting. That soccer ball guy is really fun, and I love the presents and balloons. Great colouring BTW.

Thanks for the kind words, grammadee. My goal is to donate 1,200 cards a year. Unfortunately, I'll miss my goal this year. My eye surgery robbed me of a month+ of crafting time.

freeatlast LOVE that card. The little soccer dude is adorable. I donate cards to Ronald McDonald House too and to an organization that gives cards to kids in the hospitals. I love to picture their faces when I make the card and how it will brighten their day. Thank you for donating your time and love of crafting!!

This was a challenge; I watch quite a lot of sport but I haven't made any cards that feature sport. Then I almost pinched freeatlast 's idea of the football because it's so funny and sweet - that's a really great card grammadee your hockey card rally captures movement, and I need that plaid in a blanket because ice makes me feel cold! So I stopped hankering after all your great ideas and did it My Way

your hockey card really captures movement, and I need that plaid in a blanket because ice makes me feel cold! Didn't think of it when making the card, but realized afterward that the plaid looks much like the car blankets we carry with us into the arena to watch the kids play.

warrior1991, that card is a very cute card for a rising sports star! grammadee, I am a sucker for plaid. Great card! freeatlast, that is a super cute birthday card! JaneB, your card is delightful! I'm not sure most people consider hiking and camping exactly sports, but they are as close as my family gets. We were always picked last for any team, but we love being out among nature.

scrapnnana Great card, love the colors. Hiking and camping require work and effort, thus a sport. That bingo card is great as the focal image.

Hiking and camping require work and effort, thus a sport. So maybe housework is a sport too?! I was about to say I'm quite sporty, in that case, but then I remembered that I can't be bothered with housework either ;P My friend calls it all "sportsball" because in the end it is all kind of the same if you're not into it. Have you seen this cartoon about sportsing really hard? That's sportsball to me. goo.gl/images/1jpA9MAnyway, I had just finished making a bunch of sportsball cards for my 9yo nephew to give his friends for birthdays, plus some more to donate, so I was working with the scraps that a normal person would have thrown away. Luckily I had one 2" piece with the sportsballs on it! Very simple. The paper pad was from Tues Morning, Echo Park paper. The sentiment is from one of my fav MFT sets, simple, but full of good words. I love the grid pattern and bold colours on the card, joblackford, and that you placed the "sportsball" square on point. Aren't you glad you never throw anything away? I think this card is perfect for your nephew to give to his friends: it has a cool generic GUY look to it...

joblackford LOVE it. Great use of scraps and I too love the focal piece turned like that to show case the sports balls. Another definition of a sport is competition and housework shouldn't be a competition so I would have to say no. lol

Such great cards here & Yes, these are all sports- I hope you will consider mine one also. My DGS who eats, lives & breathes Basketball actually has anew passion- he want to try tricking out his trick scooter. I am so happy to have a new "thing" to both celebrate with him & to take pics of. it was fun adapting this card to a money holder. Cardtober #14 by Pati Nuce, on Flickr
