Today's challenge is to use the colours of your national flag for your card. I was inspired by Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day and chose to make a thank you card for a veteran but you can use the colours for whatever theme/sentiment you wish. My sample is, once again, very simple.

Thanks, Linda . That card design can be used in a lot of different situations. As a Canadian, I can go back to red & white. Thinking this will take me back to Christmas cards. Will try to come up with something I have not already done, but that poinsettia die set and embossing folder is trying to jump out of that tub!

I think we'll be seeing a lot of red, white, and blue! Even if I go back to my home flag, I'm still using blue red and white It must be a classic color combo to be on so many flags. I hope we might see some red white & green and red yellow & black cards too, and maybe even some more unusual flag color combos. I'm tempted to use the Silver Fern colors, since NZ has been talking about a change for years, but black and white is not much of a challenge for me! I like your simple card, and I'm sure the veteran who receives it will love it too.

I like your card. I sometimes think simpler examples encourage people to try the challenges more, anyway. It isn't as intimidating for those of us not used to challenges.
I love the idea of using the colors of each person's national flag. That is such a cool idea for a challenge!

Got one done last night with a TH stencil and ink, but this morning it looks more pink than red. Just found a little jar of Nuvo red glitter paste and have put the stencil to work again. Need to stamp a focal/greeting, then let it dry before assembly. I might even be able to get 3 cards out of that stenciled piece...

I think we'll be seeing a lot of red, white, and blue! Even if I go back to my home flag, I'm still using blue red and white I think so too -both of my flags (US and UK) are red, white, blue. I originally considered making it a red/white/blue challenge but decided to broaden it a little for thoses refupeas living in or from countries whose colours aren't red/white/blue...there have to be some, right? I know Canada is just red/white...

those look great grammadee ! love that Santa! What is funny about that Santa is that I picked it up in the after Christmas sale at M's last year (or the year before) and had never opened it. Decided to try it out this morning, and stamped and embossed a couple of them. Then I reached for the die that goes with the set, and realized that it is backwards! It looks great sitting next to the stamp. But it is displayed cutting edge up, so when you turn it over to cut, it actually cuts the mirror image of the stamp. So I had to hold it up to the light and tape the die to the back of the cs with the stamped image on it. There is also a snowman with the set: don't know if the same issue arrises with it. Guess there is a reason some things wind up in the discount bin!

grammadee - glad you were able to make it work. Hopefully the snowman doesn't have the same problem

Thanks Linda for an easy challenge. I've gone for slightly faded Union Flag colours because it's been exposed to the weather I almost made another plaid paper, but I keep making that so I've gone for wavy chevrons - which gave me the idea for the boat! That's a font extra again, from Rainier Ornaments and I spent a happy hour colouring it in. The text font is Rainier North 300. I even tucked the dolphin into the paper grammadee you are prolific! Super Christmas cards, I giggled at Ho in the middle - once I'd worked it out

The chevrons make perfect waves for your boat and sentiment, JaneB! And I agree that grammadee's HO3 is clever! Here is my card:

I'm doing a little catch up today. I kept my flag color card very simple too, using scraps from my desk and one of the die cut sentiments I try to always keep on hand. I adore indigo blues and stars. I think this paper might have been 1Canoe2 ? I bought it open stock at Joann's to use for little astronaut cards. The red scrap was from a boy paper pad, a random B side, that I was going to save it for a Xmas card. Cardtober challenge 15: flag colors by jo.blackford, on Flickr

grammadee I love your red and white cards -- I have that same stencil but I've never tried using glitter paste. I love how shiny and bright they turned out. And I had a giggle at the HO3 It's wonderful that you were able to make 3 cards out of one piece. Crazy that the die was reversed! I'm not sure if I would have figured out how to make that work. JaneB those faded Union Jack colors are wonderful, and the cool jazzy chevron. The extra detail of the dolphin tucked behind the wave is awesome. scrapnnana what a lovely thinking of you card. Is that background a patterned paper? It's really neat. I like the shape of the shield piece too. I'm having fun with these challenges, and seeing what everyone is making.

I took some liberties with this challenge. A neutral background seemed to be the only thing to work with my main image. In any case, it was fun working with this new Concord & 9th set that I found on sale. I've wanted it for a long time but couldn't justify it when I have so many other ice cream sets. But on sale? All caution goes out the window! Now to make 11 more of these. CARDtober Challenge #15 by Pat Doyle, on Flickr

freeatlast that's fun! I don't think I have any ice cream stamps yet. Maybe I need some? At first glance I actually mistook the icecream for baseballs, which would've worked well for a patriotic card (which is probably why my eye misread the image! lol) I love the blue of the bowl - I'd buy that bowl, and the cherry on top.

What perfect timing! I wanted to make a very patriotic Birthday card for my DH's best friend.I dug out the July Club Scrap kit & went to town & behold, I also saw this challenge. What a happy serendipity...so it wasn't too weird that I was making 4th of July cards in October. Croptober by Pati Nuce, on Flickr

I figured coloring the dog and cat in red, white, and blue would be a bit much.

joblackford, your constellation paper with the die cut in front made for a great card. And yes, to answer your question, that was a patterned paper on my card, too.
freeatlast, you may have taken liberties, but your red, white, and blue ice cream sundae made for a cute card.
patin, those are all great cards, and a nice variety, too!
warrior1991, I love your card, and yes, I agree that coloring the dog and cat in patriotic colors might have been a bit ridiculous. I like your choice of patterned papers.

We have an employee service project this month where I work to write thank you cards/letters for our deployed troops. My goal is to do 150 cards. This is my first batch of 36. Since they're for our troops, I went with a patriotic striped pattern paper for my cards.
