I've been watching series 1 of The Paradise on Masterpiece (on DVD). I've watched 4 episodes, and hope to finish the season this week so I can begin watching series 2 on Sunday nights starting this Sunday.
I wasn't sure what I thought for the first two episodes, but now I'm starting to become interested in the characters and am looking forward to seeing what will happen next.
What do you think of this program?

Loved it but they sadly cancelled it. I heard that. Oh well. I guess I don't mind a short series because then there is less commitment and then I can move on to something else. Similarly, I enjoyed the very few episodes of Breathless that there were.

I loved watching "The Paradise" so I bought the audio book-which I hated. Usually it's the other way around for me.

I'm on episode 4 as well, didn't know they canceled it, either. Oh well.
I agree, Mr. Selfridge is very good. You should give that one a go if you can.

I really liked the first episode, then it got slow for a couple of episodes, then it sucked me in again. I'm looking forward to watching season 2.

I don't think I'm a big fan of Moray, at least not right now. I think I would have preferred Peter Adler as a love interest for Katherine.
Of course, I've only watched four episodes, so who knows?

I got to watch season 2 when it was on in the UK. I like it much more than Mr. Selfridge and was dissapointed that they cancelled the show because they thought there were too many period pieces on at that time. The second season is even better than the first and I will never know how it all ends! Perhaps they will release season 2 on DVD now that it is finally airing in the US.

If you like The Paradise, you should give "The Grand" on netflix a shot, you'd probably like it as well.

That's a shame. We had two series if the Paradise and I loved it. I must admit that I often got a bit mixed up between it and The Mr Selfridge programme at times. The actress playing Mrs Selfridge, however portrayed her as such a wet fart, that I could have happily punched her lights out.

I liked it a lot. I'm sorry they cancelled it. I am of the opinion that one can never have too many period shows.
