I do not, but assume that they are pretty common these days. Truthfully I don't think at this point I would ever install one in my condo, but I guess never say never. A lot of people that I know do not have them either. I feel pretty safe where I am... but I am willing to admit that could change pretty quickly. What I do have to remember not to do is to leave my keys in the door when I come home from work (after midnight). Sadly I do that more often then I should admit to. I know to check the door when I can't find them.

Yes we do - and have cameras that are not connected to an alarm system.

I do, but only because it came with my apartment. I don't have a landline, so there's no way for me to sign up for their monitored coverage because that's the only way the security company offers it.

We don’t have an alarm (unless you count our very loud, large dog) but we did install cameras after several of the people DH knows had their work trucks broken into.

We don't have one but we do have a large dog who rushes the front windows and barks whenever anyone comes near the house ... we also live on a very quiet cul-de-sac so we don't have a lot of random people coming down our street

Our last house had an alarm when we moved in 24 years ago. A single woman lived there so she had it armed to the hilt. This house, we had an alarm installed only because we got used to having one.

No, we have over protective dogs. Much more snugly and reliable than an alarm or camera system. Man's best friend VS Big Brother.

I had mine installed 7 years ago after someone kicked in my door when I wasn't home. Thank God the neighbors heard and scared them away before they took much. I lost 2 laptops, but got most of my jewelry back- they pawned it. Louis was crated then and they didn't bother him.

Yes we do. Less then a week after my parents house was broken into our neighbor saw someone snooping around our house in the early morning hours. Since dh works nights he had an alarm installed. It’s one of our layers of security.

We were never able to find where my mom’s jewelry was pawned That's terrible- I can't stand a thief! I just started calling around and describing some pieces- went and identified them.

We have security cameras, a dog, and retired Leo. But we also live in a bedroom community with few break in issues. Our northern home is guarded by my retired uncle. Nothing gets passed him, lol! (we are across the road from him)

Yes had it installed some years ago - sensors but not cameras. The alarm is monitored. There are so many burglaries here I wouldn’t feel comfortable going away and just leaving the house.

Yes, we had ADT at our home in TX for 14 years, and we had one installed in our current home 6 years ago when we purchased this home. So, we have had one for 20 years. Wouldn't be without it. Our police officer daughter had one in her apartment, and then when she bought her home, she had one installed immediately also. My other daughter and her husband have one in the townhome they rent. It came with the townhome.

We also have a driveway alarm. We live in a rural area with a long driveway and most of our time is spent in rooms on the back side of the house. We installed it several years ago when there were several high profile robbery/murder cases in the areas just outside of the metro here.
An equal benefit of the alarm system for us was knowing if a child opened the door. We have a small creek on our property and once our kids outsmarted the child proofing door knobs it helped us feel safer that they wouldn’t get outside without someone hearing it.

Yes - after being broken in a couple of times in a previous we have installed an alarm in houses since. It does give peace of mind especially when we are away and the cost of monitoring is minimal.

Yes, it was actually cheaper to get the security, internet, and basic cable TV bundle than just internet service when we signed up, so we got an alarm system.
TBH, I live in an incredibly safe area so I really only care about the camera. I can see if the mail came before going out in the heat/cold/rain. And I like to check it every morning to see what animals came exploring the front porch or passed by the house overnight (we get lots of cats along with raccoons, skunks, and opossums).

I had one when I moved into my current house 30 years ago. Probably 10 years back or so the sensors didn't work as well and would just go off regardless of being set. The alarm company said it was too old and would need to be replaced. We never did however the the siren horn is still attached outside. We've had people ask what it's for and once we say the alarm, they are like Oh, okay. They don't need to know the box inside is long gone!

Yes. Cameras and sensors and I have a driveway dinger and the same finger up by the area where we park the big machines (dozer and backhoe)

We have a security system that is hooked up to a monitoring company. Some people just have the alarm without the monitoring which hopefully will scare the bad guys away. We also live in a guarded community and have a big loud (but nice) dog. In both our jobs we dealt with a few crazies and would have threats against us from time to time so we have had an alarm/guarded community for the past 30+ years.
ETA-We also have a small sign in front of our house that says monitored by such and such company. I asked for a couple more signs, put one in the back and also put one in front of another property (that doesn't have an alarm but the bad guys don't know that).

My house had one installed when I moved in, but I had it updated and installed cameras and electronic door locks. I also have a large dog and an automatic gate. I am at home a lot by myself, so it makes me feel better.

Nope, no alarm system, no dog. As far as I know most of my neighbors don't either.
