Hi there Here's the last of my POP challenges. Today’s challenge is to make a card for your Pop, or someone else’s Pop. I’m thinking masculine cards for dads, grandpas, mature gentlemen. Don’t they always get left out? It can be for a specific event, or just a general hello, thinking of you card that you think your Pop would love. Bonus: write a note inside and send it! If you don’t have a Pop to send something to, I heard online of a 92yo widower in Nova Scotia who listens for the mailman every day and would love to get a note or card in the mail. Maybe you would like to send him a belated birthday card (I’m not sure exactly when his birthday was, but sometime in October). His details are: Mr Gerard Dunn, 96 Summerhill Ave. Sydney, Nova Scotia B1R 2L4 CANADA This is the card I sent him. card for 92 yo man by jo.blackford, on Flickr And here are a couple of Pop cards I made with a masculine paper line. world's greatest by jo.blackford, on Flickr sup Dad card by jo.blackford, on Flickr ETA: feel free to play along with a card for a grown man of any age! I won't hold it against you if you make a card for your husband or grown son or anyone really

Great cards, joblackford! Those weight lifters are awesome. I think it is especially sweet of you to give an address for someone who is older and would love cards. I have one family member left who would qualify. My father-in-law is 92 also. He is still healthy and hearty, and until recently, he was still going camping with my DH's stepmom, so I made him a card with camping papers.

scrapnnana that's wonderful! I'm sure he'll be happy to get such a lovely card. And bonus points for matching it so well to something he loves. I still have 3 very spry great aunts in their early to mid 90s! The youngest of 3 sisters (all 5 lived into their 90s, amazingly enough). The oldest had just gone parasailing for her 95th birthday and was encouraging her little sister to go hot air ballooning for her 93rd birthday. lol. I was going to say I don't have any older male relatives left (except my dad who I don't think of as being that old) but I just realized I have a great uncle who is pushing 90 who lost his last brother recently - he was the youngest of 7 siblings and joked at the funeral that he was finally the oldest... I might just need to make him a card to say hi. Anyway, thanks for playing along. I think we're all starting to run out of steam at this point in the challenge.

I noticed that participation was dwindling. I had difficulty participating last week due to family needs. Hopefully we will see more joining in, but even if we don't, I promised myself I would try to do a card for every challenge. I may not make it, but I plan to keep on trying, regardless of what everyone else does. Thanks for doing your part, too. You've had to come up with the ideas and the samples, along with the others who are part of deciding the Cardtober challenges. I think it's been a lot of fun. It has made me stretch and try a few new things. I have appreciated it and enjoyed it.

Anyway, thanks for playing along. I think we're all starting to run out of steam at this point in the challenge. I hate to say it but I am. My problem is I was away for two weeks and now that I'm back I've been hustling to finish Halloween cards and I'm overwhelmed at being behind on the challenges. I did make a list of each days challenge and I'm going to try to catch up starting tomorrow.

GiantsFan, two weeks would be a lot to try to make up. I got almost a week behind because of family coming to visit, and we were flipping bedrooms to get ready for them. I was able to get caught up, but I had a couple of completely free days after they left. If I were two weeks behind, though, I would just pick and choose which challenges appealed to me most.

I look at and love all the challenges!! Thank you all for coming up with them.
I’m still working on my Christmas cards and have been making them first, then seeing what challenge they fit. After I’m done with those cards I’d love to go back and make a card for each challenge!

GiantsFan I have a little checklist too. I don't create well when I'm trying too hard to get through a list but I'm seeing which prompts trigger an idea and going with it if I can. I'm still stuck on the sparkly birthday card from early in the month for some reason! >.< but it's all good fun. Hopefully the Halloween cards came out well. gmcwife1 I'm trying to use the prompts to make Christmas (and Halloween) cards, and I've been surprised at how much I've been able to make them work. Anyway, there's no reason we have to get these done this month, unless people are playing for points! It's just a fun change of pace for me, a good challenge to try new things. And I think we can dip back into the list when we have time, although I'm not sure when that might be...

I, too, have enjoyed all the challenges! I've made cards for each of them .... in my head. With so many other card making commitments, I've struggled with doing much more than the cards for my challenge days. Hopefully next week will bring some additional stamping time. There are a couple of cards in various stages on my craft table that I'd love to finish and check off the challenge list.
I can certainly appreciate the time and effort our hosts have put into this event and I really appreciate those who have decided to play along with us.

joblackford dammit, now I want weightlifters too! I am going to have to practice my drawing skills. Your cards are fabulous, just fabulous, and I have a tear in my eye for Mr Gerald, receiving his card from you
scrapnnana I truly identify with the sentiment on your lovely card
I'll agree with you all, I've run out of pep this week. I've had the most awful neck and shoulder pain since last Friday and using my arms has been so painful. I've done my example for this Saturday, but only digital because I can't manage much else at the moment.
I think it's been a marvellous month though; I certainly intend to try the cards I've not yet done and i think we should do it all again next year

If this prints well I might send it to Mr Gerald for Christmas; I was thinking of him while I drew it

Oh JaneB that's a fabulous card! I'm so impressed with your talent. I'm sure he'd love to get that in the mail all the way from England

revisiting this challenge for iNSD Thanks for playing along Linda I love the color combo you chose. That plaid is a good starting point for a warm "masculine" feel.
