FYI, The Silhouette Store has all fonts on sale for 30% off. I haven't looked at their fonts in quite a while....there are so many new options, as far as pricing.....I understand the dingbat fonts being more pricey, but what's up with some of them being almost $10?! is it a commmercial vs. private use thing, or are some fonts just really that much more expensive than others? What in the world do you get with a $10 font that you don't get with a $2 font? I know the answer has got to be obvious and I'm missing it, so apologies for my short sightedness! Cindy in Texas

I'm with you. On ALL of their fonts. Frankly, there a plenty of font sites that are free - and other sites with bundles, etc that make the price per font set extremely low. That is one of my biggest complaints about the Silhouette Design store for about the past 8 months or so -- too many fonts!!

I have never understood paying for fonts. There are thousands and thousands that are free including ding-bat fonts. Right there with you Loydene. Even if you want to pay for fonts there are so many bundle options out there that cost very little.

What are the free font sites? I've tried to find those before and ended up in some sketchy, ad-filled, probably downloading viruses to my computer websites...

Creative Fabrica - you can snag the last few of the free 300 days of fonts. Creative Market has 6 free designs a week, many of which are fonts. The Hungry JPEG has weekly freebies and at the moment there's a free font bundle that you can unlock by sharing on social media. Free Design Resources has daily freebies including fonts and graphics. Nothing wrong with DaFont either - plenty to download there.

As you can probably guess, I don't pay for fonts either

The Hungry JPEG and Da'Font were the two sites I was thinking of when I wrote my post ...

I've done fine with dafont.com and have never gotten any viruses there. It's the first place I go to for free fonts.
However, I have sometimes paid for a commercial font, because they have far more "glyphs" (additional designs of the letters) that let you have more options and tailor your design more. That is true of many of the more expensive fonts at the Silhouette Design Store. The more glyphs, the higher the price generally, but the price you see is just the personal user price. I'm assuming that if you want to use any of them commercially, that you have to buy the commercial license, just as you have to do for their regular designs.
I have bought a few of their more expensive fonts, but I have a subscription with loads of credits, and sometimes there isn't enough in the Design Store that I like these days. My sub will auto renew at the end of November, but I am debating whether or not to just cancel it. I also have paid for some bonafide commercial fonts because I really wanted the font, and there was absolutely nothing whatsoever that remotely resembled it in the freebies. I paid full price for Samantha by Laura Worthington after waiting several months for it to go on sale. I got tired of waiting, and I got it for my birthday. It was the most I have ever paid for a font. Of course, it went on sale a month or two later. I should have waited a little longer.
Compared to the true commercial fonts, the ones in Silhouette Design Store are pretty affordable, although I am getting tired of seeing so many fonts in the Design Store, as well as the dingbat fonts.
