I want to make gift sets of small thank you cards as Christmas presents for the staff at my school. A1 is the size I bought at Joanns but most videos i see use 3x5 cards from stamping Up. I wanted to use the one sheet wonder plans from a video but the cuts are off for the A1 cards. So I either need a source for inexpensive 3x5 card envelopes or a cutting plan for A1 cards. I need to make a lot and thought the one page wonder idea would speed things up. Can anyone help me, I’m a novice card maker looking for guidance.

I always just use 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock from Staples, cut in half, then scored to make cards that are 4-1/4 x 5-1/2. It’s easy to find envelopes or premade sets in that size. I’m not familiar with one sheet wonder, so I’m not sure if that helps.

I found this A1 notecard template using 6x6 patterned paper (which could also be 12x12" cut into 4 pieces) linkyI mostly use A2 (the size oaksong references above) or sometimes the weird size that Joann's and Michaels sells that's 4x5.5" but I've never done OSW cards. I have used Kristie Marcotte's 6x6 paper pad tutorial and card sketches - she figures the sizes out for A2 cards, but you could probably scale them down a bit for notecards.

Good luck. I have no idea if that A1 link is any good, but I hope so. In terms of envelopes, I would look on amazon if the price is more important than quality. If you want nice quality envelopes, clearbags has good prices for bulk envelopes. When I searched for 3x5 card envelopes the ones that came up are A1 size (that you already have I think).

I mostly make A2 card size but it sounds like A1 may be a good option if you’re looking for something smaller.

I agree - use A2 (4.25x5.5 - i.e. a 8.5x11 paper cut in half and folded) cards, and you'll find a whole slew of OSW instructions on the internet. Envelopes are easy to find at Staples or other big box stores.
Enjoy!

It's pretty easy to come up with card ideas, and Pinterest has a ton of easy ideas for inspiration. There is nothing wrong with the one sheet wonder, but the one time I tried it, the cards were not as nice as the ones I designed myself. The advantage of the one sheet wonder is that you can make a lot of simple cards very inexpensively, using just one 12x12 sheet of patterned paper and a few embellishments. If you are making gift sets for your staff at school, it should work well for you and be an economical gift to make.

If you have a Tuesday Morning in your area, you might want to check for the 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. I have found good quality white paper there for 3 or 4 bucks for 100 sheets. As a writer of thank you cards, it is nice to use the smaller cards though so it doesn't require a lot of writing to fill the white space.
