Hey cardmakers! Time to mix it up. For Tuesday's challenge, I want you to do at least one of the following: 1. try something new, a technique or style you haven't used before, or have not used in awhile. 2. use non traditional colours on your card. 3. use mixed media on your card. 4. mix manufacturers. See what happens when you use stamps &/or dies &/or colour media from 2 or more different suppliers on your card. Here is one of my cards for this challenge. I have a couple more, but I will wait until I am wider awake to upload and share. CT #30 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I thought the black background was non traditional for a Christmas card. And pink and blue are not Christmas colours either. I used paints to get the "sky" on the circle. Have FUN!

How did you achieve that pink and blue, grammadee ? It's a beautiful card! ETA - I see you said you used paints. What type of paints? Watercolor? It's just so pretty!

Those are a couple of Prima pearlescent paints. They come in 3 jar sets. There was a mint green with those two. Haven't brought my supplies in from the vehicle yet, but when I do I will let you know the specifics.

Sounds like fun! I might put on my smock and get messy... I have some new messy supplies I planned to try out but haven't gotten to yet.
The sky on your card is really stunning, grammadee, and with the sparkly snowy hillside and tree, really striking.

Here is another card that would fit this challenge. I had created a couple of sheets of Yupo with hopes of using it with the Tim Holtz Lift Off ink, but then I needed something quick for an anniversary card on the weekend, so I grabbed the yupo piece for the background. yupo bg anniversary by Gramma Dee, on Flickr freeatlast, the pink and blue were Prima Opal Magic paints. I like them on white b/c they paint in the original colours, but if you use them on a black bg, they each take on a different colour. I also have collected some "metalique" and "sparks" Prima alchemy paints that I love.

The trouble with mixed media is it takes time to dry. I finally added the last touches this morning. Mixed Media is not exactly my comfort zone. I used pearlescent embossing paste for the snow on the tree and on the ground. Perfect Pearls Mist and Nuvo drops for the falling snow. Then I cut "peace" from silver and evergreen metallic card stocks.

I've saved you until last grammadee I struggled with this because I'd already attempted everything on your list sometime during this Cardtober challenge. So I went with something completely different... a meme-style photo. You will not be surprised that my husband was the source once again! One night this week we were lying in bed, discussing the fracking and earthquakes near Blackpool, when he burst into song.... And the rest is history! The photo is from Lauren Richmond on Unsplash. It is such a shame you can't hear him sing it, it's so funny!

scrapnnana, that tree is wonderful!!!! I love all the snowy goodness on this card! Want to lift it, but I will have to read and reread it so I can figure out how. JaneB, this is a HOOT!!! Love the meme. This is definitely something I haven't done on a card, ever! And both of you are finished all 31: give yourself a huge pat on the back--and a bonus of 50 points!

Jane, that is an awesome and funny card!
Thanks, grammadee! I was hoping there was a bonus for doing every challenge, but I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. Woohoo!

Wow, congrats to scrapnnana and JaneB for completing all of the challenges!! I was hoping to catch up on my last few today but work and life got in the way. Never mind. I'm still determined to try out those new things on my desk - the distress resist spray and the Brushos! I just need a bit more of a push with the messy stuff.

Congratulations, JaneB and scrapnnana on completing all 31 of the challenges! I hope to eventually do the same, but it will obviously be well past October by the time I get there. Until then, here's my card for this challenge. I "mixed it up" by using inks from two different companies on my card. They were also two different types of ink pads. One brand was a firm foam ink pad and the other was a traditional linen ink pad.

Finally getting around to these wonderful challenges! I used a new technique - The frosted embossing look around the edges I saw it in a youtube video this week. Love how it looks. I also used multiple color mediums - Zig watercolor markers, Distress inks and wink of stella glitter pen.
