So I twisted my ankle Saturday. It's bruised on the outside edge to top of my foot a little. But it's high up the outside of my ankle that really hurts. Wonder if high ankle sprain? Weird how hurts one spot and bruised another...

The blood that causes the bruising would be pulled down by gravity. So the damage might indeed be higher on the leg than the bruising shows.

Because you twisted it, you've almost certainly pulled or sprained the ligament higher up - do take care of yourself and stay off of your foot. Don't hesitate to see your doctor if the pain doesn't ease up. It should be lessening somewhat since Saturday.

Did you elevate it and put ice on it when it happened? That usually helps keep the swelling and pain under control.

Odd thing Is no swelling. Just bruised and painful. I did ice following day once it started really hurting

I've had a second degree sprain (that's bad) and had limited swelling, but a lot of bruising. The bruises were lower down on my foot than the actual ligament damage. The swelling was only really noticeable when compared with my other foot and the pain was also fairly limited. I knew it was a sprain when I did it because of the instability of the foot and the 12 weeks of physio that resulted to rehab it!
You might indeed have sprained it. Is it stable, especially laterally where you rolled it? If not, you might consider physio/doctor and likely a brace for many weeks!

Ouch. Get a bag of frozen peas on it 3 or 4 times a day and keep it elevates as much as you can. Hope it soon settles.

A co worker of mine was dealing with a similar injury. She limped around for a month before getting an xray. It showed bone fragments pulled loose from where the tendon was yanked when the ankle was twisted. She was given a pretty substantial brace to wear in order to help it to heal.

Ankle pain is the worst! I hope you get it looked at just to be certain there is nothing broken.

But if something were broken wouldn't I be in a lot more pain? I am limping slightly and have to sit occasionally. ..if I turn wrong and my foot doesn't turn correctly with me....yow!

Opinion...would getting one of those slip on ankle brace things from pharmacy be good or is a snug ace bandage better?

I'm sorry you hurt your ankle. Ankle injuries really hurt. I hurt mine a couple months ago and it still has its days where it is very sore.
