I finally broke down and shortened my hair last night. I saw the style on a bartender at one of the local taverns in our town and fell in love. My hair is between curly and wavy and is now just above my shoulders. I also got rid of my bangs and have them swept to the side. She says that all she does is mousse it, tip her head upside down and blow it dry.
I haven't used mousse in YEARS and am wondering what everyone else uses. I'll try and add a pic so you can see what I mean.

I've got natural curls too. Curly hair usually is drier that straight. And I struggle with getting enough moisture to keep it from looking dry and having too much moisture that weighs it down. So I have tried mousse from every kind of lines - curly, drugstore, high end, from the internet, Ulta, Sephora...
I currently use Coconut Mousse

I use some mousse in the roots for lift if I'm doing a wavy/curly style that day. I love Big Sexy Hair's Root Plump. Doesn't feel sticky, weighty or crunchy.

My hair is very similar to yours. I use KMS Curl Up Control Creme. I also use a "cupped' diffuser on the end of my hair dryer to get more curls sometime.

Those are your natural curls? I am so jealous! They are!
Funny story: they didn't really start to curl until after I had my first daughter who is now 15. Prior to that, I just had waves.

Women pay millions of dollars a year to get hair like yours. Lucky you!

My hair is very similar to yours. I don't use mousse. After I wash my hair I use Unite Boing Curling Cream and Unite Boing Curl Leave In. I then either let it air dry or use a diffuser. For the next two days I use just the Leave In, two or three squirts at the base of the hair on top of my head and kind of massage it in. That gives me the lift to make it look fresh.
I also just had wavy hair before my daughter was born and now have curlier hair. I love it!

I really like the cut! My hair is very similar, right down to the color (only mine has "silver highlights" LOL) - you're making me think I should go a little shorter... Hmmm...
I never, ever blow my hair dry. I'm just too lazy, and I end up with a nasty straight-but-still-frizzy look.

Your new cut is so flattering! I love your curly hair! It is so beautiful.
I had straight hair until I hit menopause and then my hair turned wavy/curly about 10 years ago. I follow what is known as the CG system. Basically it means using hair products without sulfates or silicones because that is a way to keep it as healthy as possible and allow moisture to truly get inside your hair. Using hair products with silicones means the silicones coat each hair shaft like a rubber tube and when you try to add a deep conditioner or even a regular conditioner the good things in the conditioner can only coat the outside of the hair-it can never get into the hair shaft where it needs to-that's where it needs to go to really moisturize the hair. These products include shampoo, conditioner and styling products like mousse, gel and other things. They come in a full range of prices from budget to luxury and are available in drugstores to online.
If you'd like to know more about it you can check out the website at naturallycurly.com and take the texture quiz to start. Also there's a facebook group that I belong to that is a wonderful place to ask questions Curly Girls! Support Group for Curly/Wavy/ Natural Healthy Hair
The mousse that I can recommend that is CG friendly is Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Mousse. The women in my facebook group really like it. I myself haven't used it. Be careful when you blow it dry. That should only be done with a diffuser because straight blow drying curly hair is extremely damaging to it. You can also air dry your hair if you have time. That technique is the least harmful of all-no heat period. That's what I do but it works for me because of my schedule. Blow drying upside down is a technique to get more volume to the top of your hair. If you air dry your hair you can put in clips at the top of your hair while it is drying to help build volume and when it is dry you take the clips out.

I'm totally jealous of your curls! My hair is straight, but I use Got2B Fat-tastic mousse. It is pretty hefty stuff - a little goes a long way.

Gorgeous in every way. Between brain surgery and losing a ton of weight I have like 10 strands of hair left. I love my big sexy hair root volume. Jen
