I mostly listen to feminist podcasts or at least those with female voices. I’m bored of listening to men’s opinions on everything whenever I switch on the tv or radio. The Guilty Feminist, Standard Issue, and 2dopequeens are my favourites.

I figured some of the shows I listen to would be available as podcasts! thanks for bringing up the topic...
One I listen to (and am going to subscribe to) is Here's the Thing hosted by Alec Baldwin. He interviews 'artists, policymakers and performers.' He interviewed Maggie Gyllenhaal a couple weeks ago and it was pretty cool. (plus I just love his voice!)
another one is Radiolab, a show about curiosity-- they cover all sorts of topics. One show I really liked was all about the radio broadcast of War of the Worlds, and how it caused REAL riots, killings, etc. when it was aired. Another one I heard recently was about gene-swapping technology using CRISPR (short segments of DNA).
I also just heard that Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes both have podcasts, too. Chris Hayes's is called Why Is This Happening, and Rachel Maddow's (brand new) is called Bag Man (something about political bribery in the WH 45 years ago).

I listen to podcasts on my tablet using the Stitcher app. My favourite is My Dad Wrote a Porno, it's rude and hilarious. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! Just downloaded the app and already began making a favorites list. I'm so appreciative!

I listen to a lot of podcasts and I think all have been mentioned here. Except my hands down favorite: Bitch Sesh. It's a recap of the Real Housewives shows and just cracks me up. I'm so shallow.

The Big Boo Cast is my absolute favorite. You really feel like you're listening in on 2 very funny girlfriends discuss parenting, pop culture and football. Super funny!
Also: Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey That Sounds Fun with Annie F Downs For The Love with Jen Hatmaker Everybody's Got Something with Robin Roberts Fun Therapy with Mike Foster (1st season much better than 2nd) Great Women of Business
This one is absolutely fascinating - wish there were more than 6 episodes:
The Habitat by Gimlet Media - On a remote mountain in Hawaii, there's a fake planet Mars. Six volunteers are secluded in an imitation Mars habitat where they will work as imitation astronauts for one very real year. The goal: to help NASA understand what life might be like on the red planet—and plan for the day when the dress rehearsals are over, and we blast off for real. Host Lynn Levy has been chronicling this experiment from the moment the crew set foot in their habitat, communicating with them through audio diaries that detail their discoveries, their frustrations, and their evolving and devolving relationships with each other. From those diaries, Gimlet Media has crafted an addictive serialized documentary: the true story of a fake planet.

i love podcasts so much i don't know where to start! So many good ones have been mentioned already. I listen to them all day at work when i'm not in meetings. I have daily ones, and a bunch that post throughout the week so it keeps my feeds fresh. Pretty much any subject you are into has a podcast. Politics, news, knitting, your favorite TV show, inspiration, religion, parenting, being single, comedians, TV stars, its all out there. I am really into politics and current events, but i know the OP said that wasn't her thing. True crime is another genre i like, and i would add Finding Cleo, Breakdown, In the Dark, and Truth and Justice to the ones listed so far. Also, Uncover: Understanding NXIVM is a fascinating look at this cult, and i guess you can call it true crime since the founder is in jail on charges, but it's not really like the others. I'mg lad that jdub mentioned Gimlet media - they have a great catalog of fiction podcasts. I've listened to Homecoming (it's being made into a TV show with Julia Roberts!) and Sandra and both are really interesting!

I don't listen to the radio anymore, just podcasts. I don't have any Apple products but I do have I-tunes on my desktop. I download free podcasts, put them on a flashdrive which I use in the USB slot in my car. There are so many podcasts to choose from about anything. Some of my favourites are:
Under the Influence with Terry O'Reilly (about advertising and how it influences us) Revisionist History with Malcolm Gladwell - really good Reveal by the Centre for Investigative Reporting Freakonomics - never thought I would be so interested but I've learned a lot! Planet Money - again-learned a lot This American Life Hidden Brain - psychology You are Not so Smart - psychology The British History Podcast The History Chicks Stuff You Missed in History Class In Our Time

My favourites are:
Casefile - true crime narrated by an anonymous Australian host. Covers crimes from Australia and around the world Teachers Pet - investigative journalist looking into the disappearance and probably murder of an Aus Mum in the 80's Beautiful Anonymous - really random calls from people who talk about different things in their life. Fascinating Canadian True Crime is also very good.
I do a lot of driving for my work so podcasts are a lifesaver.

I think that many people here want to know HOW to get them....... Do you download an app? Do you stream them? Some of us don't know. I tried to download the app so I could listen to MSNBC's podcasts, but my laptop wouldn't let me. I'd LOVE to be able to surf around and look for Alec Baldwin's podcasts (he has such a soothing voice). I'd LOVE to get Elton John's podcasts but you have to pay for those. I just use the podcasts app that comes on iPhone. When you click on it you can search for a specific podcast or search on different genres.

I got the link to Stitcher (from lainey) and appreciate it!

My all time absolute favorite podcast is Last Podcast on the Left, but many people here would absolutely clutch their pearls over it. It's comedy/horror/true crime and EXTREMELY irreverent. They won a People's Choice Webby a few years ago and now they sell VIP tickets to their shows for over $100 each I love LPOTL aswell! The amount of research and detail is awesome. But it's not for everyone.... I had to unfollow their FB-group because there are some pretty intense fans posting some intense stuff on there. Interesting, but intense. And they have some great topics too! Oh I just googled and it sounds delightful! Glad I read this thread. I’ve not gotten into podcasts yet either but I think I just may have to give it a whirl. I’ve listened to some ted talks... no podcasts I know but that’s as close as I’ve come. I’m betting they could be broadcast through Alexa?

Some podcasts are series (like serial, S town, etc). Most are episodes that are independent of themselves. Usually the podcast has a theme or genre (true crime, health, wellness, politics, etc). I generally listen to true crime or health related podcasts. Some of my favorites: *health and/or self improvement* The model health show Rise Anatomy of a marriage The Chalene show Fat burning man with Abel James (wish he had more new episodes) Better everyday with dr Brooke and Sara Fragoso Healthy moms podcast The spa doctor Losing 100 lbs with phit and phat *other* Katie Couric (just found this. Not all episodes are political but some are. I really like it) Serial Small down dicks (true crime/-dick is apparently another name for detective) Daily show I tried to listen to my favorite murder and hated it. What am I missing? Does it take awhile to get used to? I think ‘dicks’ refer to private investigators

I like Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History. He takes a close look at a topic each time -- could be anything from when McDonald's changed their french fry recipe to Elvis being unable to correctly sing the lyrics of one song (ever!) to why professional basketball players don't use underhand free shots when they're much more accurate. He's a really fascinating guy. The other two I really liked were S-Town and Serial (season 1.) I listen to him as well. Season 2 of Serial is Beau Bergdahl and I listen thru gritted teeth

When I heard someone else talk about the podcast the word “dick” was used as a detective (I had never heard the word dick being used this way, lol). The people who talk about the crimes in the podcast are police detectives, not private investigators.

If you like Serial’s first season, there is another that goes more in-depth on Adnan Syed’s case. It’s the first season of Undisclosed. The first season of Serial is part of the curriculum for my Criminology class. The Undisclosed season on Adnan is from the viewpoint of 3 lawyers: OMG, I have heard her name so many times. It’s the sister of Adnan’s friend, who brought the case to the Serial people. And, two other lawyers, who understand criminal law. It’s jaw dropping at times. My professor has suggested S-town. I simply haven’t been able to tear myself away from Adnan’s case. Rabia Chaudry

I got hooked on podcasts this summer. Now the only time I listen to music in my car is my drive to work. I don't dare listen to a podcast before going to work because I'd pull into the parking lot and wouldn't be able to pull myself away to go into the building.
I've listened to a few Revisionist History and How It's Made podcasts. Revisionist History has one about the claims Brian Williams made that brought on his downfall as a news anchor. It really made me realize how flawed our memories can be. And I like to listen to Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me since I don't get to hear it when it airs on the radio.
Most of the podcasts I listen to are about theology. I've learned a lot about church history and where some beliefs have come from.

Serial was my first podcast love! My other current favorites are:
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepherd Death, Sex, and Money This American Life Dr. Death Light the Fight (if you’re a scrapper, this is Heidi Swapp’s podcast) Oprah’s Master Class
Past favorites: S-town Missing Maura Murray Dirty John (I can’t remember the name of this one about a lady who was accused of killing 2 husbands- one died by drowning in shallow water and the other was a turkey farmer)
Disliked: My Favorite Murder Sword and Scale My Dad Wrote a Porno Waking Up with Sam Harris Anna Faris is Unqualified
Up next to try: Gladiator

Marking my spot, but I can add my thoughts. I’m listening to season 3 of Serial and it is amazing. I’m one of the few who loved season 2 way more than season 1. Shout out to SockMonkey —I’ve gotten sucked in to ear hustle I also like Pod Save America and Pod Save the World. Crooked Conversations is another good one. NPRs UpFirst is another good one for a quick condensed news update. Revisionist History is good (the Elvis episode was fascinating) ESPN has a 30 for 30 podcast that is fun for sports fans. Ted Talks Daily has had some good TEDtalks to listen to. Brains On is a science one for kids—occasionally I listen to that one in the car with ds Lead To Win is one I enjoy for work/leadership stuff This American Life (who does Serial and S-town) has some good individual episodes I usually get into one or two and focus on those. Currently, it’s Serial and Ear Hustle. My dh likes one called History Chicks and we used to listen to Stuff You Should Know.

I know this is dumb and I have heard of podcasts before but I don't know what they are? I am obsessed with Podcasts since I discovered them a few months ago. All started for me when my 6 month free Sirius ended and I refused to pay to listen. I missed Andy from Bravo and found out he had a Podcast! So I downloaded Overcast podcast app and searched for Andy and found his podcast and I no longer missed Sirius!! Then I started researching other podcasts and now that is all I listen too in the car and I find myself not wanting to get out of my car lol!!!! my favs How I built this (how people became successful such as airbnb, chicken salad lady etc..) invisibilia human behavior...her voice is amazing lol armchair expert. Dax shepard Andy Cohen Bravo watch what happens live show Dirty john true crime...mini-series on Sunday right now I am obsessed!! Btw...I had NO interest in true crime stories but after listening to Dirty John, I changed my tune. Looking for more to add

I enjoyed S-Town, too. While I was listening to it, I drove through Alabama and passed signs to a lot of the places that were mentioned.
I really mostly listen to complete fluff while I am doing other things. I enjoy podcasts about TV shows I am watching (mostly shows like Survivor and Big Brother), Harry Potter topics, and occasionally Disney or Universal coverage.

Ear Hustle is my favorite too. A must-listen, in my opinion.
Others I enjoy: Outlander - there are a couple of these Game of Thrones podcast - episode reviews. I found this waaaaaay too late, darn it! Masterpiece - they have podcasts for Poldark and other Masterpiece shows; mostly cast and producer interviews. Young House Love
Savage Lovecast - Dan Savage. Lots of talk about sex and relationships, and no subject is off limits. He is straightforward and I like his approach.
