Pumpkin pie, apple pie, stuffing, mashed tatoes, green beans, huge turkey (leftovers for days:) homemade rolls and cranberries. We are simple like that!!! pretty much that. Others bring/make other stuff but I'm good with those exact basics. Although the green beans have to be "Grandma beans" which are canned beans slow/long simmered in sauteed bacon and onions. Yummy to the yum, yum! Our greens are steamed then served mixed in with bacon and roasted pine nuts....we've got to be a bit fancy;)

Stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes and turkey. I prefer stuffing cooked inside the bird. I grew up eating it that way, and to me it tastes better.

Dressing, canned jellied cranberry sauce and pecan or chocolate-pecan pie. Second tier would be green bean casserole, sweet potatoes and homemade rolls.

In addition to the turkey, dressing, stuffing (yes we do both), mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, pickle tray, and pumpkin pie...must have roasted cauliflower (with everything but the bagel seasoning) and pickled eggs. The roasted cauliflower is a new addition after I served it last year. My MIL has requested it for every holiday meal since last Thanksgiving. Do you just use cauliflower, bagel seasoning and oil? I would love to try this!

Turkey Stuffing Mashed potatoes Green bean casserole Butternut squash Cranberry sauce Rolls Rutabaga/carrot mashed together Pumpkin Pie I thought my dh’s family were the only people who mashed rutabaga and carrots together! We love it!! we never have rolls or green bean casserole but have the rest of your list. I think it's a New England thing....I live in Orlando, but grew up in Providence, RI and lived there until I was 29 so I'm thinking it's a regional thing because no one I know here in Florida has ever heard of it either.

I would love to try this! Yes, I saute in a little olive oil (or usually grape seed oil because it has a higher smoke point) until lightly browned (in an oven-safe pan), usually 3-5 minutes. Then put in oven at 425 degrees for about 12-15 minutes to finish cooking. When done, I toss with the bagel seasoning (love Trader Joe's brand) and serve. This is one of the first things to disappear.

Mac and cheese. I LOVE mac and cheese, but it's bad for me (all those carbs and fat!). Thanksgiving is my one and only time a year that I indulge.

In my husband's family, a Bohemian version of German potato salad must be served at all holidays. I've never had a version like it, but it has bacon and corn syrup in it and must be served warm. It might not sound appealing, but people love it, even people who have never before tried it. Because we host a large multi-family group of "mixed eaters" for the holidays, I'm in charge of vegetarian dishes and my stepdaughters make the potato salad and meaty things. I made sure to ask my mother in law for the recipe though, because it is so important to their family. Are you willing to share the recipe for the potato salad? It sounds amazing. We only do traditional Thanksgiving every other year. The years in between are Steaksgiving years. This year, it's steak, seafood scalloped potatoes, green salad, rolls, sugar cream pie, and a pecan cake roll. Next year, it's cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, 7 layer salad, cranberry sauce, pecan pie, ham or fried turkey, rolls.
