We generally do the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with Turkey, stuffing, mashed potato, corn bread, cranberry sauce and vegetables.
I look forward to the traditional items, but at the same time wonder what others have for traditions or musts for Thanksgiving?

In my husband's family, a Bohemian version of German potato salad must be served at all holidays. I've never had a version like it, but it has bacon and corn syrup in it and must be served warm. It might not sound appealing, but people love it, even people who have never before tried it.
Because we host a large multi-family group of "mixed eaters" for the holidays, I'm in charge of vegetarian dishes and my stepdaughters make the potato salad and meaty things. I made sure to ask my mother in law for the recipe though, because it is so important to their family.

Those are musts. If I have the time or energy ~ sweet potato casserole. Pink or green stuff. Deviled eggs.

As long as there are mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls I’m good. I can live without stuffing, dressing, cranberry sauce, and even turkey.

In addition to most typical fare, we also have seven layer salad, cheesy potatoes, and ham. Plus bowls of black olives on every table.

All there needs to be is:
Stuffing Mashed potatoes Corn Rolls
All the carbs!
And cranberry relish would be a bonus.

In addition to the turkey, dressing, stuffing (yes we do both), mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, pickle tray, and pumpkin pie...must have roasted cauliflower (with everything but the bagel seasoning) and pickled eggs.
The roasted cauliflower is a new addition after I served it last year. My MIL has requested it for every holiday meal since last Thanksgiving.

For me...Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and green salad.
For the family I add in cranberry relish, gravy, butternut squash and stuffing...but I don’t eat any of that stuff.
Dh makes a pumpkin pie and I make chocolate pecan. Both with lots of homemade whipped cream.

I make the ham, green beans, corn casserole, sweet potatoes (regular) and sweet potato casserole. For desserts I make Oreo cookie dessert and frosted banana bars. I am also going to make a pot of chicken and dumplings this year. My sister who hosts the Holidays makes the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, rolls and for dessert she makes eclair and carrot cake. My sister in law makes the carrots, Mac and cheese, turkey breasts, and rolls. For dessert she usually makes Gooey butter cake and an apple cake. My daughter and 2 niece's bring dessert, drinks, cups, napkins and paper plates.

We do Thanksgiving at my husband's cousin's house. His wife is a wonderful hostess and she goes to town for everyone. Plus all of he other cousins bring their specialty dishes. She hosts the out-of-town cousins for an entire week and each night is a feast of something w/Thanksgiving being the big to-do. The night before Thanksgiving we normally attend and that's either bbque or Mexican night. On Thanksgiving there is a plethora of food. Appetizers are a meal w/in themselves. There's lumpia, inari sushi, veggies, etc. The entrees and sides include turkey, ham, steamed rice, mashed potatoes, the best macaroni salad ever, Chinese chicken salad, green beans, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce and that's just some of it. Dessert is better than great. Pies, cookies of all sorts, cakes, more cookies, pecan tassies, more pie and a margarita cake.
Then we play a game and it's time for 2nds.

Pumpkin pie, apple pie, stuffing, mashed tatoes, green beans, huge turkey (leftovers for days:) homemade rolls and cranberries. We are simple like that!!! pretty much that. Others bring/make other stuff but I'm good with those exact basics. Although the green beans have to be "Grandma beans" which are canned beans slow/long simmered in sauteed bacon and onions. Yummy to the yum, yum!

There is 3 of us.
I am all for deli turkey , mashed potato, gravy. This year.
I get sad because growing up there would be over 30 people and every dish you could imagine.
Now we are down to 3 people, 3 dishes.

Freshly roasted turkey, my family's stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, and apple pie.
My MIL makes her turkey ahead of time and reheats it (on too high of a temperature for too long) for the meal, and never makes stuffing...so every couple of years I offer to make the turkey & stuffing at her house so we can use up the turkey DH gets as a Cmas bonus. Every other year we try to be at my Mom's house on Thanksgiving so we can this real meal before heading to the inlaws' house on Friday.

For me - turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing and whatever kind of corn someone makes. For dessert - pie.
I hate green bean casserole, although someone usually brings it., and others love it.
I love sweet potatoes in any form so if someone brings those, it's a bonus.
I loved the jellied cranberry sauce my grandmother made. I'm not so crazy about the cranberry relish sauce that we seem to have now. It's just not the same (and neither is the canned stuff).

We also have mashed potatoes, my mom's stuffing and I make homemade cranberry sauce. Everything else is second fiddle. Though the teen/young adult kids made a big deal a couple of years ago because we didn't have the jello fluff. We didn't realize they were that invested in it until it was missing and then three of them mentioned it
My other big thing is having my sisters and kids at my mom's house. ugh, now I sound like her

I'm not making Thanksgiving dinner for only the second time in 35 years. We're visiting DH's family down in Louisiana, so I guess we're having the bayou version. All I know so far is there will be multiple turkeys: 2 roasted, 1 deep fried, and 1 smoked.
I'll probably make cranberry relish, since I love it so much. They don't really like dessert, so I might make something I like.
