Hey there guys.. I just was given a Cricut Expressions 2... anyone have one or had one? Any tips. My last Cricut (and only one I have ever had) was the original small one (Baby Bug?? something like that) and I haven't seen it in years. Actually it was misplaced and I haven't been able to find it in years. Anyways, by chance my 'step' sister (we never lived together as our parents married when we were older and really only met her once. She scrapbooks though and asked if I wanted it. So YES I do!! So thanks for anything you can tell me about it. good or bad.

I was given one just over 2 years ago. Mine is an Expression, not sure if it is "1" or "2". I do like it, I got a cartridge here and there on eBay. I've never used it online, just cartridge based. I think that you HAVE to use it cartridge based now, I think Provocraft no longer has a way to use it online. Other than not being about to weld words, that is the main thing I hated that I couldn't do by using only cartridges. That and not being able to use custom shapes. But it is a good machine and you can do a lot. I have lots of dies and after I first got it and was learning how to use it, I didn't use it much for about 2 years. Only when I needed something I didn't have a die for. Well, I fell in love with it the end of August when I realized it does a beautiful job of cutting Heat Transfer Vinyl. You DO have to learn some tricks. I have to turn on "Flip" and type the words in backwards! I set the pressure lower and adjust the blade but it does a great job with the HTV. Enjoy!

So you have to buy the cartridges? You can’t download anything from the computer? 😡 the ONE thing I was looking forward too.

It is a good machine, but you cannot download images to it. Only cartridges work with this machine. The newer machines like the Explore, and Maker will give you the ability to download images. Did your step sister give you cartridges to use with the machine ? They have lots of images on each cartridge.

You do have to use cartridges with it but of all the Cricuts, this one was probably my favorite. I love it!
