China Glaze. Under the Stars. Not sure why I love it when I can’t even figure out the color.

I don't wear color on my finger nails often. I used to have a gel manicure regularly but stopped. My toes are typically always done. I just got a grey color yesterday on them. I am waiting on some new nail lacquer strips from Jamberry. They are a black w/some glitter to them. DD cheer team name is ONYX. I want to wear them to competitions.

I currently have OPI my condor can do. I've had it on for two weeks (at home gel), which is the longest I have ever had a polish stay on and look good. Usually at about five days my gel is starting to chip and I end up peeling it off. This is my first manicure with OPI gel and base coat (I had been using Gelish). I hope that it works well with all of my gel colors. I am not sure what I will put on my nails next. Probably DND hazelnut or OPI taupeless beach.

Every time I try to do mine at home with gel polish, it starts peeling off within a day or two. I use a base and a topcoat. It's so frustrating, so I usually have nothing on my fingernails. I go to a nail salon and get gel pedicures and they last a month or longer. I actually have red nails with blue tips right now for the Red Sox. I got talked into trying the dip powder when I went to get a pedicure a couple weeks ago. I like how it looks and how they don't peel or chip. I'm not a fan of how thick they are, and the grow out is driving me nuts. I need to go get them redone. Not sure I'll do the powder again.

DH's dd1 got married yesterday. He and I wore black and gold. I had a gold clutch. I had my nail tech do a black and gold combo on my nails to match my outfit.

I haven't had a lot of luck until now, although even 5 days of a gel manicure is much better than what I got with any regular nail polish. What brand of polish are you using? What light? This time I cured my top coat for 2 minutes because it didn't seem quite right after 1 min. I don't know if that is what made the difference for me, or if it is the brand.

Caramel dip from these apple slices I am munching on. Now it's all over my keyboard ... I know that's not what you are looking for, though ... I just finished picking the last bits of turkey off the bones I boiled for soup. So even though I’ve washed my hands they still smell like turkey. No polish on mine though. I was going to do them tonight but maybe I’ll jusy wait and go get them done for my birthday later this week. But I’ve never had them done in a salon I’m afraid if all the germs. How does one pick a germ free salon? What does one look for so not to get an infection. I’ve had enough infections this year ( not on my hands or nails just out of no where infections ) and all of them went super bad & I was in the hospital twice so I’m very wary. Maybe I’ll just do them myself again.

I know lots and lots of people who have gotten professional manis and pedis at the salon with no problems whatsoever. Only know one person who got a nasty infection after a pedicure.

I don't even know what's on my nails. It's something of my daughter's that glows under black light. She did my nails before our Nuclear (Black light) Dodgeball night.

I am using actual OPI gel polish with a light (I buy from beyondpolish.com). I just checked, yeah, those are the ones. They lift at the edges and I can just peel the polish right off in one piece. I've thought about trying Kathleen Lights polish, she has some really pretty colors, but I'm afraid they'll peel too.

You can do both at home with a little practice. Those "gel-like" polishes don't last any longer on me than any other regular polish. They're not the same thing.

PS I use regular polish all the time, not I put it over a light-cured clear base that I do myself. My polish lasts forever this way.

You just use a special base coat, regular nail polish and then a light like they use at the salon? Do you use a special top coat? I don't think I'd have the patience to do the powder myself, and I don't want my nails this thick all the time. I would like to have them nicely painted though.

Back in May I tried Color Street Nail Strips and fell in love. I now sell them and would not go back to gel! So much healthier for my nails and polish lasts upto 14 days. Problem is I never want to leave it in that long. I always want to try new combinations. Colorstreet.com/Sc to check it out. I have no idea how to post a pic or I would!

I use the clear Gelish base, cure, clear Gelish top coat, cure, then whatever polish I like with whatever top coat I like (I always use a quick dry top coat because ain't nobody got time for that). You also need to wipe off the gel top coat before applying the regular nail polish. I missed that step when I tried it. I think I tried this another time and did remember to wipe it, but still didn't have much luck. The polish looked dull right away and just didn't last. I am going to try it again with the OPI gel base and top coat. I also recently bought Sensationail polish to gel but haven't tried it. I figured it was worth a try since I have so many regular polishes that I would like to use. I also read that you can use the method described above, then when the polish is completely dry you can cover with a gel top coat. If I did that I would probably do most of the manicure at night then the top coat in the morning. I don't know how well that works, though.

I don't know what it's called. It reminds me of Z*G's red polish above, but is brown. It was pretty for Thanksgiving. I have acrylics and I'm due for an appointment this week. Trying to decide what type of Christmas nails to do. I'll still have them for DH's work party.
