I will have to ask my family what they think of either of those ideas. I'm not a fan of PBJ and the cinnamon rolls sounds odd to me but it could be good, I guess. I usually serve cornbread with it when I make it, but my boys both prefer those Keebler club crackers and use them as spoons. No jelly, just the peanut butter! Although who knows...if people are eating sweet cinnamon rolls with chili maybe peanut butter and jelly would go well also...

Always cinnamon rolls with chili! My husband makes the chili and I make the cinnamon rolls. That's how my school served it and that's how the school where I teach serves it. I thought that's how everybody serves it! Ha! I'm in Nebraska.

Never heard of either (I'm in NY) but I'd try both. They sound interesting to me. We serve chili with cheese, but I love cornbread with it if I remember (cornbread w/ jalapeños - even better!!)

The school where I taught always served cinnamon rolls with their chili. I always thought that was strange. I'm boring, just throw some cheese on there and I'm good. Oh, and don't forget the crackers. Must be a school thing. I'd think corn bread would also go with chili, but who am I to turn down a sweet bread?

Cornbread, rice or french bread with our chili. Have never had it with cinnamon rolls or peanut butter sandwiches. Interesting combination, but don't think it's something I would try. I could see myself saving the cinnamon roll for a dessert type treat after eating chili, but wouldn't be able to stomach eating the two together.

I feel like I'm being punked! Cinnamon rolls are breakfast/brunch food. Chili is lunch/dinner. They are not even supposed to be served at the same time of day, let alone at the same meal!

Almost as weird as chicken with syrup and waffles.
In the UK we eat chilli with rice as a rule.

I have never heard of such a thing. I can’t see me ever doing that even though I like all of that. I like to make elbow macaroni and serve it under my chili. My dh isn’t a pasta guy so I just make enough for me. And I always make garlic bread too.

I’ve heard of both, probably here, but have never tried either. Growing up we never had chili and I never got school lunches. I serve chili with Fritos, preferably Scoops! I put shredded cheese on top.

Here’s the thing. I love cornbread; it’s a treat for me, since I rarely eat carbs for dinner. I like it as much as I like the chili. I would never eat chili with cinnamon rolls, since you can’t make just one cinnamon roll-and I would eat too many of them.

So do you eat your chili with either of these? Do you serve with something else interesting that I could try? I'm Canadian and the thought of either one of those choices just seem all kinds of wrong If I serve a side it will just be some sort of dinner roll ... boring I guess

Never tried it, but how could you possibly go wrong with cinnamon rolls? I love sweet/salty combos.
We usually have either fritos or cornbread with chili. FIL loves rice with it.
I like some cheese and green onions on top. Maybe some cut up avocado, too.

I prefer cornbread with chili, or soup or beans or stew. However, my school district in Arkansas has done the chili and cinnamon roll thing as long as I've been a lunch lady - going on 19 years. But....I always think of the cinnamon rolls as dessert, rather than eating them along with the chili.
Had not heard of the peanut butter sandwich/chili combo, though we don't serve peanut butter any more at school b/c of allergies.

Cinnamon rolls and chili is common here in the Midwest. It's a favorite at Runza (another midwest specialty). Iowa here, and I have never been served chili with a cinnamon roll. We never did that in our family either. Funny how something is so common for groups of families and not for others. Our house was always cheese and crackers. Nebraska here, home of Runza.

We had chili last night, with cornbread! I love buttered saltines with it, too.
I have not heard cinnamon rolls with chili and I am from the Midwest. Not that I wouldn't try it though!

Chili was always served with cinnamon rolls when I was in school. I never thought you were supposed to eat the two together though - I figured the cinnamon rolls were for dessert after the chili.
We do crackers or cornbread with chili.

I always serve chili with cornbread or oyster crackers and cheddar or sour cream. I've heard of cinnamon rolls with chili (on the old Peaboard, I think, never in real life), but not something I would want to try. PBJ doesn't sound appealing either.

When I make chili, I usually serve it with cornbread, Fritos or tortilla chips. I've never heard of it being served with cinnamon rolls, but I'm sure my family would be receptive (they all LOVE cinnamon rolls) so I might have to give it a try!

Yep. The lunch ladies would make the most enormous homemade cinnamon rolls. So soft and sweet. I don't remember them being overly sweet (but is that possible when you are a kid?) .. So I don't think they put gobs of icing on them, and that was homemade too.
I always make cinnamon rolls with my chili. DH loves caramel rolls, since that is what his lunch ladies made.
I cheat and use Rhodes cinnamon rolls. But you have to have a soft warm cinnamon roll with your Chili!

Growing up at school chilli was always served with corn bread and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon rolls were epic. They were huge.. filled up the main course part of the lunch tray, and so delicious.
I always saw it as the dessert. Eat chill with corn bread crumbled in it.. when done eat cinnamon roll. So together but not at the same time.
I love chilli with tortilla chips or fritos.
YUM.

Almost as weird as chicken with syrup and waffles. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Chicken and waffles have gone mainstream here. Kentucky Fried Chicken even has them now.

Cornbread in the bottom of the bowl. Chili over that. Chopped onion and shredded sharp cheddar over that. *gavel*
(although I might secretly try the peanut butter sandwich thing....I *heart* peanut butter.)

I've never heard of chili with a pb sandwich or cinnamon rolls. I love cornbread but never make it with chili.
We usually have chili with either rice or elbow macaroni, and we always have shredded cheese and sour cream to add on top.

Never heard of either one until this board (I think there was a long thread on it last year?) Someone said the cinnamon rolls were a Midwest thing but I am pretty much a midwest person and never heard of it. We usually serve crackers.. or just serve the chili alone. Edited.. I do serve shredded cheese, sour cream and Fritos... I lived in Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana and Tennessee, Colorado and California.. still never heard of it.. maybe it's those 'other' Midwest states.. lol

Um neither. Chili is good enough on its own. I don't care for cornbread and cinnamon rolls seems weird to eat at the same time. Maybe later for dessert.
