The things I learn on the internet. On the Instant Pot group on Facebook people have been talking about what they serve with chili. Apparently there are a lot of people who serve peanut butter sandwiches, and another large group who grew up with cinnamon rolls and chili. I've never heard of either one -- I grew up with corn bread -- so I thought I'd better try both just to say I did. Dh and I had peanut butter sandwiches the last time I made chili and we liked that flavor combo. We didn't dunk the sandwich (I wasn't sure if that's how people eat it), we just took a spoon of chili and a bite of peanut butter sandwich. It was quite good. Now...tonight is the cinnamon roll experiment and we did not like this one. I mean, it wasn't awful, but it was just too sweet. Maybe I would have liked it better if I hadn't iced the rolls, but the photos I saw showed people serving them iced so I did too. Someone in the FB group said she would never try either of these because they just didn't appeal to her at all. I replied that trying things that don't appeal to us might cause us to find something we like! And as long as you like cinnamon rolls then there's nothing to lose...we have the leftover rolls that will be reheated for breakfast. So do you eat your chili with either of these? Do you serve with something else interesting that I could try?

The school where I taught always served cinnamon rolls with their chili. I always thought that was strange. I'm boring, just throw some cheese on there and I'm good. Oh, and don't forget the crackers.

I read that same thing on Facebook. I was surprised by the cinnamon rolls.
The school where I teach used to always serve peanut butter sandwiches when they had chili. I'd never eaten them together before but I used to buy my lunch when I got sick of packing one and would always buy on chili days. I liked the peanut butter sandwich with the chili.
If I have chili at home I like it with Fritos, tortilla chips, or cornbread.

We never had either of those things with chili when I was growing up and we had chili fairly often. We never had cornbread either then and I’m not sure why, but I do make it now. We also put shredded cheese and sour cream on our chili when I make it. And now I want chili and cornbread for dinner instead of the frozen pizza we’re going to have!

Lol. --- It's cold and rainy here so I figured it was the perfect day to try my experiment.

Growing up it was always cinnamon rolls with chili, which is weird.
Now I live in the Cincinnati area and they add quite a bit of cinnamon to their chili.
I still think it’s weird.

Cinnamon rolls and chili is common here in the Midwest. It's a favorite at Runza (another midwest specialty).

Hmm. Never heard of it. After DD had corn chips with chili at a friend’s house, we added that, but I still prefer cornbread with honey butter.

Our school district serves it and I love it.
My grandmother’s recipes for chili calls for a lot cinnamon. She was known for her chili. ( she owned a restaurant). She also would slice the onion (whole) into very very thin strips. So there would be rings of onions in the chili.

I've heard of cinnamon rolls and chili, but I have zero interest in trying it. Chili is one of my top five favorite foods, and only cornbread is acceptable to eat with it. Saltines can be used if there is absolutely no chance of obtaining cornbread.
I don't think I've heard of pb sandwiches and chili. That might work, but I prefer pb sandwiches with chicken noodle soup.

I hadn’t heard of the combo until I heard tale of some lucky kids whose lunch ladies served homemade cinnamon rolls alongside chili. I would never turn down a cinnamon roll, so it sounds good to me.
ETA: we usually do cornbread with chili.

I never heard of cinnamon rolls with chili. I like cornbread with chili but I also love rice with chili, a bowl of rice with chili on top!

I've never heard of either of these combos. My chili is very filling so I don't serve anything with it except some shredded cheese and chili cheese Fritos to sprinkle on top.

Funny that this is a subject tonight as we had chili for dinner - with grilled cheese. I e never heard of serving it with peanut butter sandwiches or cinnamon rolls. I am from the Deep South. In the last few years, I’ve met people who serve it over rice.

I will have to ask my family what they think of either of those ideas. I'm not a fan of PBJ and the cinnamon rolls sounds odd to me but it could be good, I guess. I usually serve cornbread with it when I make it, but my boys both prefer those Keebler club crackers and use them as spoons.

I don't like cornbread so I do cheese biscuits with chili.

I put cinnamon in my chili.
I wouldn’t eat cinnamon rolls with my chili because my chili is already pretty sweet (I put a bottle of Fletcher and Wieser Raspberry Chipotle Sauce in it).
We eat flour tortillas, tortilla chips, and cheese with our chili.

We are saltines or cornbread or sometimes shredded cheese with chili household. But sometimes we just eat it without any of those things. Forgot diced onions, I also like that one my chili

1. Chili is disgusting. 2. When I make it for dh, i serve fritos or tortilla chips, onions, cheese, and sour cream.
I know there is chili made with cinnamon, so cinnamon rolls arent a big stretch, I suppose. Never heard of peanut butter with chili.

This place freaks me out sometimes because I will talk about something with someone, then come here and read about it within hours. It happens all the time.
We had chili last night and I asked my dd and sil if the had peanut butter sandwiches with chili at school when they were kids. They did not but I did growing up and sometimes I will make a peanut butter sandwich with my chili. Sometimes I make corn bread but most of the time we have crackers. I’ve never heard of cinnamon rolls.

We never did that in our family either. Funny how something is so common for groups of families and not for others. Our house was always cheese and crackers.

Chili with cheddar cheese, red onion, and jalepeno peppers with tortilla chips. Cornbread on the side.

My sister taught at a school in southern MN that did cinnamon rolls with chili. She thought it was maybe just something unique to her school and then she went to an after football party at a coworker's place and they had chili and cinnamon rolls. It was a common thing around there. We gave it a try and liked it. I think mainly we just liked having cinnamon rolls with our dinner, but it was a combination that worked.

Nope. I’m a cornbread and chili combo person. The two you mentioned sound absolutely revolting to me.

It's quite common (in the midwest) to eat/serve cinnamon rolls and chili.
I'm from Nebraska and pretty much everyone I know eats those together.
