The rules are so fucking harassing. It’s like a god damned bookie or something.
Look - my copay to the ER is $100 * I paid $100 * I sent you a receipt for $100. It all matches exactly. SO don’t fucking suspend my card because you don’t like the kind of receipt that the hospital gives me I have zero control over what type of receipt they issue
It MY FUCKING MONEY. Spent on what it’s supoosed to be for in a god damned hospital.
I hate my FSA they must live every day just to be assholes over me spending my own money on exactly what I’m supposed to be allowed to spend it on.
I wonder if there’s some sort of regulatory commission for FSA’s
I’m off to google Fsa regulatory agencies
Whew I guess I needed to vent.

That sounds infuriating. Who is your FSA through? We just swipe and go. I've rarely had to send in any documentation and never for a co-pay.

Wage works
That’s just it it’s my ER copay wtf could it be for in the ER in the exact amount of my copay? I even gave them my EOB! That’s why it’s harrassment imo. It’s not like I spent $100 on Amaxon & claimed it.

My FSA is wage works too and I have also submitted doctor receipts that they didn’t like, I just called the doctor and explained and got a new different receipt that met the requirements.

We have HSA instead of FSA... it's a bank of America card... I've never been asked to prove or send in a receipt... hope I never have to... I'm not sure I saved them all.
I do think its dumb the are making you jump thru hoops to spend ur own account money... that bites

I hate them. I think they are stupid. They can be a pain to use, but they can also save you a decent amount of money. They have room for improvement but I don't think they're stupid.

That’s too bad and sounds really frustrating. It’s definitely your management group that’s the issue. Our FSA actually works quite well, it’s easy to use and they reimburse (when I haven’t used the card) really quickly. Maybe your company can switch?
I do hate the federal rules that changed a few years ago disallowing over the counter medication.

The only receipts they have ever denied in3 years have been for in net work co pays. I shouldn’t even need a receipt for my co pay
A receipt from my in network provider saying $x for conoay is not acceptable they always insist I provide an eob. So I’m FORCED to give out my private medical info to these asshats because they want to be asshats.
I shouldn’t have to prove anything other than In her work provider & $x co pay they shouldn’t need to know why I was in the ER it’s not their business
It’s harrassment
They have not once in 3 years ever questioned a purchase at Walgreens or cvs where I actually can buy make up & candy but my ER receipt for the exact amount of my co pay that says co pay paid is somehow questionable? Only if you want to be an asshole

Interesting, we have wageworks too and I've never had an issue with them. I just swipe my card and go. However, I've never been allowed to use my card at CVS it flat denies it.

DS had a bunch of meds this year.no questions. AND to further thier inconsistencies they demanded my eob for one ER copay but not the other a week later in the same hospital same ER, same health issue too! They just don’t know what they are doing.

I have wageworks and don’t have any issues. The one time I did was in the beginning when my receipt was scanned as a .jpg. Apparently the image is really small and they couldn’t read it. Since then I know to make sure it is a PDF and I haven’t had any problems since.

I completely validate your vent. And yes, I have wage works and yes, the same.damn.thing happens to me. I don't get it. I'm paying a hospital bill. What is to question? Yet I pick up scrips at rite aid and they don't question a thing. Who is paying doctors, medical clinics, hospitals with their card and it *not* be a qualified medical expenses. It makes no sense.

I share in your frustration. I don't understand why they have to make it so complicated. I hope you can get this worked out. It's your money and you used it for a medical expense. You do have a receipt. This should be clear cut for them. Keep fighting!

I understand how the FSA works but it’s so damn inconvenient for a bunch of little transactions that it isn’t even worth it to me to use it. I have only used it on years I know I have one large expense coming such as LASIK.

I went to a dermatologist who does cosmetic injectables and lasers, It’s pricey so I checked the rules and those particular services are not covered but I guess if I got something else done at the dermatologist I could use my FSA. So the FSA has to know what my visit is for. I also go to a concierage doctor who has an annual fee for the practice, that is not covered. You could be having plastic surgery at the hospital which is not an eligible expense. Your dr bill could have a late fee or missed apt fee on it, so that’s why they need detail break down because they won’t pay that. All these receipt rules were put in place because someone skirted the system in a way that never occurred to you.

Oh, I even have prescription items that won't get covered under my FSA. It's just screwy. And then you can't get decongestants covered, but sunscreen is. It just makes no sense.

I just googled and it listed sunscreen as not covered. Are decongestants the ones behind the counter because they are a tracked drug?

It is a pain. I can't pay a bill with multiple charges on one bill. I get required documents needed every time. I can't just send the receipt. I have to now pay each individually to MATCH the EOB's. Can someone not figure it out on their end? ?

My FSA processes automatically when the insurance is filed. I used all of mine this year fairly quickly due to several surgeries, but I haven't had a problem. I don't have a card or anything.
I am so sorry you are dealing with that. Sounds like someone who works there is being ridiculous.

I'm trying to get my Wageworks account squared away because they suspended my card as well. Why are copays questioned? I know that I save money utilizing it for tax purposes but I don't know that it is that much of a savings to go through this hassle!

Ugh -I'm sorry. We have an HSA now (easy-peasy) but several years ago we had a FSA - DH's company self-insures and the company that handled the FSA was awful - required receipts (to be mailed - not scanned, not emailed, not faxed) to them for everything and they rejected a bunch and required new receipts...everyone complained to HR and the contract wasn't renewed and we had a different, much better, management company the following year. I'm really pleased with how responsive DH's company is to employee concerns about the insurance plan and how things are handled

We have one and the company has changed hands or something. It's getting better to deal with. We have the swipe and go card. But for some reason and usually I don't have to do anything else but they don't "talk" to my dentist. So I'd always have to send in additional documents. This year one of them must've gotten their act together and I no longer have to do that. YA!
I think the website is a little stupid and not user friendly but I"m dealing.
I wish you luck.

The FSA I had when I was going through chemo and radiation made me want to tear out the hair that I didn’t have because chemo took it!! It was infuriating to have to send receipts over and over again. I wouldn’t randomly choose to pay the LG Hospital Cancer Care Center hundreds and hundreds of dollars, really!!!
I have an HSA now and never have had an issue...not one receipt ever requested.
