I heard this on the radio this morning. It’s a nationwide station and the DJ’s were talking. One said, “I just heated a piece of cake!”
Everything else went out the window. Is this a thing? Reheating cake? Maybe it’s a regional thing?
Do tell, peas. Do you warm up your cake before you eat it? Do you heat cakes with frosting?
(Edited for sake of clarity)

Not cake but I do heat up brownies and sometimes cookies. I prefer my bakery treats warm.

It depends on the kind of cake

Do you warm up your cake before you eat it? Do you heat cakes with frosting? If it's slightly stale chocolate cake, it's a definite possibility.

Cake is supposed to be kept at room temperature, the flavors taste better that way. However if you have leftovers for a week I would store in the fridge, then yes I might give it 10 seconds so it won’t be a hard cold block.

Back when I ate cake, I would- especially pound cake. My youngest DGD always wants her giant sprinkle cookies from Publix heated and she always says for 20 seconds. She's 6.

No, never! Who likes melted frosting? Cake must have frosting to me. Otherwise it is poundcake, coffeecake, not just "cake."

I bring refrigerated cake up to room temp, and heat up apple cake enough that the butter I put on it melts into it. I don't care for frosting, so I cut it off before I reheat the cake. It has nothing to do with weight loss as I'm often asked if I shop in the children's section or told to eat a doughnut. #weightshaminggoesbothways #eatcake

The cake had nothing to do with weight loss, it was a throwaway comment. they were talking about weight loss and she was about to eat a piece of cake. Which I assume she was just joking.

No, I'm sorry. DD came home from school, upset about comments regarding her bony ass that were made, and we are just extra stabby about weight right now. I hijacked a vent. I get the cake heater gave 0 f*cks about their weight and was going to enjoy some warm cake and I understand a radio show going sideways. My late BFF was a radio DJ at our #1 rock station for over 20 years. FCC fines were threatened for some of our on air conversations

Nope, I wouldn’t heat it unless it was getting a little dry and hard. Same with cookies, brownies or any other similar thing.

I heat cake. Some for just 15 seconds to slightly warm it. Carrot cake I do longer so this frosting melts more. I also heat just about all pies. I grew up in Ohio.
I thought everybody did it until I got married. My husband thinks it is weird and doesn’t heat anything like that. He grew up in Indiana.

I've defrosted frozen cake in the microwave but I've never heated up a slice of room temperature cake. I don't store cake in the fridge.

,I heat up cake.
I don't bake, but if I have a piece of take home cake, cupcake or a mini bundt cake, I keep it in the fridge. I don't like eating cold cake, so I heat it in the microwave. Just enough to warm it, without the frosting becoming runny. In my microwave, it's usually 16 seconds.
Edited to add.... I do this with any pastry or bread type item.

If it’s been in the fridge I’ll zap it for a few seconds. I don’t like cold cake.

Not cake but I do heat up brownies and sometimes cookies. I prefer my bakery treats warm. Me too... Although I also heat up breakfast cakes, like strudel, crumb cake and such..... Yesterday morning I stopped at 7-11 for a cinnamon twist and coffee and the clerk started to put my twist in the oven! I said "NOOO!!!" lol - then I got to the office and those things were as stale as all get out, so into the microwave it went, and it was so much better that way. Heating up cake? That is just bizarre. We get different kinds of cake from our local deli, and it's so much better when the chocolate frosting is still a little stiff from being refrigerated. I could go for a slice of that right now ...

No! In fact, I like it better when a piece of cake is slightly chilled.
I do warm up brownies now and then. After topping the brownie with a dollop of Nutella, especially.

I love warm cake! It really only takes 7-10 seconds to give a warm hit to it, and no the frosting doesn’t melt.

Only if it’s a crab cake. 😄
I’m not a fan of warm cake or cookies or brownies. I like them to be a little bit cool.

Cake fresh out of the oven with frosting dabbed on it is the best. I wouldn't reheat my cake, but eating warm cake is my favorite.

I would microwave a piece of cake that I'd kept refrigerated just enough to take the chill off of it. The frosting wouldn't even come close to melting so that's not a problem.

I'm not a huge frosting fan (unless it's ermine or whipped cream which is very rare around here), but I've been known to heat up a piece of bundt cake, especially if I'm having it for breakfast with coffee.
