The entire state of Kansas is under a Diaster Declaration! Highways are shut down, lots of crashes..... hope all are safe at home! My oldest is on call to go in and help transport for emergencies. I pray our First Responders are safe!!!

Not gonna lie, this has me all giddy and excited. We are directly south of KC metro and it's been snowing since 11AM. I'm hoping they cancel school tomorrow simply so we can play in it.

We're at the west edge of KC. Thankfully, we've been able to stay home and use the day for Christmas decorating and laundry. We've had a few - maybe 6 - quick power flashes, but that's it so far. I'm a bit worried about friends heading home today from dance regionals - one's about an hour east of KC now, and another just left St. Louis - but hopefully they'll take their time and go slow the rest of the way back.

My boys safely made it back to KU and KState from Kansas City area so I am relaxing and enjoying the day. The one who drove to KState had a really awful drive.

For locals, we are at the very southern edge of Overland Park. I can barely make out the tree line that is about the equivalent of 3 houses away. Total whiteout conditions here. I have to say, I’m loving it! I’ve missed not having much snow the last few years. I hope this is a trend that continues this’ll winter. (Yes, I know I’m crazy LOL!)

We’re good here on the southern state line, although this morning was a bit dicey. Had several slide-offs and someone broke off the stop sign just up the road. Sun is coming out!

I keep seeing the weather updates. It makes me sad. Normally I would be calling my Dad to check on him, but he passed away a few weeks ago.
His funeral is Saturday, so hopefully it will be gone by then.

I’m so sorry about your dad- I wish I had words that could comfort you. You are in my thoughts and prayers= please reach out if you want to chat.

Honestly, I'm loving it, too, and wouldn't mind more similar episodes with the proviso that they occur when I'm at home, instead of (35 minutes on a good day away) at work! Hugs to you, kt. I do hope the weather lets up enough to allow you to take care of what needs doing next weekend. traceydenn - glad your two made their drives safely! Did #3's travels work out OK as well?
