I know this is going to sound dumb, but what is a MLM? Multi Level Marketing. Where there is a company who sells products through consultants. And those consultants are encouraged to recruit more consultants, who report to them (called downlines). And those consultants are encouraged to recruit their own downline consultants. The person who recruits and then supervises consultants also gets a small commission for that person’s sales. So, the only people truly making money in MLM companies are those with huge numbers of downlines who have downlines who have downlines, etc., and a bit of the profit trickles up. They make more money from other people selling than they do from their own sales. When I “sold” CTMH, I wasn’t interested in recruiting anyone else to sell at a level under me. Any money I made in sales was just rolled back into buying product for my own use. The majority of people I’ve known who had sold MLM products have been the same way. I’ve only known a handful who have really made it a business with downlines, etc.

We’re all adults. Capable of making our own decisions about what we will/won’t purchase. We get it, you hate MLM’s. Stop worrying about what everyone may or may not be buying, it’s not your place to police us.

Huh. I had no idea trollie sold anything but now I kind of wish I did my nails. Unfortunately nail polish strips would be totally wasted on me.
I'm with an mlm company but I doubt most here even know which one.

I'm another who hadn't noticed that Trollie sold things. However, I had noticed the manner in which the OP goes after Steph and it doesn't reflect on OP well.

You know what’s worse than MLM’s? Long time peas who create alter IDs to harass other longtime peas whilst simultaneously asking for advice in other threads. Careful @kaitlynr439

Chiming in very late, but I have mixed feelings. I do separate in my mind MLMs and other businesses, like when Sqillen sold cookies. She was not an MLM, she was a small business to my way of thinking.
I see MLM participants as having an agenda to recruit to that company, not really to actually sell anything. That I don't like.
I think OP is at the front end of an issue that does really marginalize and take advantage of women. Keep speaking up, even if most of this board is not ready to agree.

I don't care for MLMs but it's easy enough to scroll past threads about them and if someone was really only posting about their MLM to the point where scrolling wasn't sufficient - there is an ignore button here that works well.
I also don't care for calling out people by name on the boards. So I'm going to take my own advise and use that ignore button.
Folks - can we err on the side of kindness here?

I do agree with her about the issues of MLMs, I think the way she went about presenting those issues here is where it all went wrong.
I don't recall seeing Trollie or Steph ever push their products on anyone here, they aren't doing the hard sell or promising that this time next year we'll all be millionaires.

None of us have our heads buried in the sand here when it comes to MLM’s. It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing. It’s about realizing the majority of us are capable of deciding for ourselves what we wish to participate in without someone trying to “enlighten” us to their evil ways at every turn. She’s behaving just as badly as what she says she despises about MLM’s.

Who here has ever used the board to recruit? Sincerely? I have seen people sell MLM products here, but I don’t recall ever seeing a fellow pea attempting to recruit others to become downline. I completely understand not liking that aspect of MLM, but don’t see it happening here and certainly not by trollie whom the OP started this thread to deride. So, not clear as to what your dislike of recruiting has anything to do with this thread. I hate religious proselytizing with a white hot passion. Proselytizing is just another term for recruiting. Proselytizing is also a part of Christianity- and some sects think it is the most important part of Christianity. Should I then post tirades on every thread to do with Christianity, even when the peas posting on that thread aren’t proselytizing?

What I find is annoying is the political threads.. now those you can get rid of in a heartbeat.... Seriously though.. I didn't really know trollie sold anything.. the only one I can think of off the top of my head is steph... but Steph or anyone else I have never seen pushing anything. And I really don't care... I have bought from MLM, I have sold a little of MLM..nothing seriously.... Really this thread is really stupid and no reason to beat on trollie... or anyone else. If someone joins and ALL they do is push a product then yeah that person needs to go... otherwise... carry on.

I am speaking in a much broader sense, that I see MLMs as primarily recruiting - not specifically here. In fact I don't notice it much here if at all.

Looking forward to posting frequently about how bad MLMs are. Only as frequently as people shill their MLMs, no more. So if people get sick of my message, they can thank the MLM sellers that post about their business. .[/quote]
No, what you’re actually going to do is publicly apologise to Steph, Trollie, and Freebird for being a total bitch. Then you’re going to delete your @kaitlynr439 account and just use your longtime pea name, otherwise I’ll start a thread naming names.

I would think a lot of people agree with the idea that MLMs are predatory things that we personally wouldn’t get involved with. But the OPs approach is not in the least bit constructive or nice in her approach, or attitude. She’s like the proverbial bull in a china shop, I’ve seen her go after Steph on a conpletely unrelated topic, that kind of unprovoked harassment, is something people notice. And will count against your credibility on something. Encouraging her to keep behaving this way seems counterproductive. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s not up to us to decide what other adults do with their time or money. As has been pointed out her behaviour on this topic to date, has been far more objectionable, than any MLM person on this board.

I for one have learned something very interesting from this thread (as ridiculous as the OP is making this topic ). I've learned what ColorStreet is! I've never heard of it before so I clicked Trollie's link to take a look. It is definitely not my thing, but I truly hope that Trollie is a very happy and successful consultant for the product. See, OP, that was so stinking easy. Click link...look at product...realize it's not of interest to me...wish Trollie luck with her business...move on to the next post. No harm, no foul, no impulse purchase. Sometimes adulting is so damn easy.

Yes! Please! I have had kaitlynr379 on ignore since she initially made her appearance here. The Peas are 100% in agreement (which is rare) that they are fully capable of making their own decisions without your input.

1. Trollie is awesome and I don't think she has ever posted a single thing that any normal person would consider annoying or inappropriate. 2. Squillen's cookies and cinnamon rolls are amazing and like little bites of nectar from heaven. Also, the Toscano soup. The world needs more of Squillen's Toscano soup. 3. If the OP and people like her succeed in driving all MLMs out of business and consequently I lose access to Tastefully Simple's Seasoned Salt, I will personally find her and make her hand mix the copycat recipe for me on demand for the rest of her life. And also, if I want to spend $9 on a container of salt and pay a consultant for the privilege of selling it to me, that is my prerogative.

What ever happened to Jamberry? When I think of nail sticker MLMs that's the one that comes to my mind. There was a time my FB newsfeed was filled with folks selling them. I don't have the energy to participate in MLM sales. I will support local friends who sell but only buy once. I went to a party for something once. My sister in law invited me for some skin cream. They didn't even have the products there, and it was 5% sales and the rest of the evening was a video about joining their sales team. Yeah NO. I told my sister in law I had to leave about 10 mins into that 40 mins video. I also didn't buy her 90 dollar cream.

Just keeping score here: Team Katelyn - 2 Team "stop bossing us about, we can make up our own minds, thank you" (including those who don't much like MLMs) - 4 5 6 7 pages then it went off the rails so I'm just enjoying the popcorn.
