I'd forward the email to Amazon and see what they say. If it's a scam, they need to know.

I almost want you to return it just so we can see how this all plays out in the end.

Can you also post this on the review page of this item? I bet they are getting some bad reviews.

I agree with everyone.. keep it... it's got scam all over it. Unless THEY send you a box and return address and no money from you. BUT I would want my cost up front before sending it back as well. They are not going to do that.
I am sure IF there was a mistake, they paid almost close to nothing in the first place for those speakers. I highly doubt they are going to be out that much money.

So I saw this on a Facebook forum for eBay & Etsy sellers ---
"It's actually a big thing going on on the AMZ forums. They do these lightning deals and sell low, then send these sob story letters that some people will fall for and suddenly they've got a high ranking product. Most people on Amazon dont read feedback anymore, and they dont get enough negs out of all the packages they send to hurt their ODR. So yeah, it's a well-known currently occurring scam."
There are MULTIPLE items out there on Amazon that this is happening with.

Each time I see this thread on the front page, I open it to read the email again, just for this part:
I don't know why, but I'm really tickled. I love this email. I wouldn't send them ^%$#@

Personally I think it sounds like a pretty risky way to increase your ranking but what do I know, my rankings are terrible 😆. I’m actually really surprised the people on the deal sites haven’t come across this before.
