www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article220097825.html"The eccentric hedge fund manager, whose friends included former President Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and Prince Andrew, was also suspected of trafficking minor girls, often from overseas, for sex parties at his other homes in Manhattan, New Mexico and the Caribbean, FBI and court records show. Facing a 53-page federal indictment, Epstein could have ended up in federal prison for the rest of his life. But on the morning of the breakfast meeting, a deal was struck — an extraordinary plea agreement that would conceal the full extent of Epstein’s crimes and the number of people involved. Not only would Epstein serve just 13 months in the county jail, but the deal — called a non-prosecution agreement — essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe into whether there were more victims and other powerful people who took part in Epstein’s sex crimes, according to a Miami Herald examination of thousands of emails, court documents and FBI records. The pact required Epstein to plead guilty to two prostitution charges in state court. Epstein and four of his accomplices named in the agreement received immunity from all federal criminal charges. But even more unusual, the deal included wording that granted immunity to “any potential co-conspirators’’ who were also involved in Epstein’s crimes. These accomplices or participants were not identified in the agreement, leaving it open to interpretation whether it possibly referred to other influential people who were having sex with underage girls at Epstein’s various homes or on his plane. As part of the arrangement, Acosta agreed, despite a federal law to the contrary, that the deal would be kept from the victims. As a result, the non-prosecution agreement was sealed until after it was approved by the judge, thereby averting any chance that the girls — or anyone else — might show up in court and try to derail it.This is the story of how Epstein, bolstered by unlimited funds and represented by a powerhouse legal team, was able to manipulate the criminal justice system, and how his accusers, still traumatized by their pasts, believe they were betrayed by the very prosecutors who pledged to protect them." One set of rules for the rich and connected - another for the rest of us.

I skimmed this article this morning. It's disgusting and sad how he preyed on young defenseless girls for years with little consequence. Just shows there are different rules for those who can buy their way out. I hope these women get justice some day soon.

This article reconfirms what I already know to be true: Many men, particularly those at the top, despite what they say, still believe their illegal and unethical behavior towards women to be acceptable and okay. The way they participate and support each other when they get caught is disturbing.

As much as it sickens me, it doesn't surprise me. People with that kind of money play by a different set of rules than you or I.

I’ve been following this story, and I’m not exaggerating when I say the whole thing makes me nauseous. Horrifying.

There is more............ Epstein was friends with President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton, and his legal team included Alan Dershowitz and Kenneth Starr, the report noted. ** www.scribd.com/doc/316341058/Donald-Trump-Jeffrey-Epstein-Rape-Lawsuit-and-Affidavits** Acosta defended his team's approach. "At the end of the day, based on the evidence, professionals within a prosecutor's office decide that a plea -- that guarantees that someone goes to jail, that guarantees that someone register generally and that guarantees other outcomes -- is a good thing," he said. If confirmed, Acosta would be the first Hispanic member of Trump's Cabinet. money.cnn.com/2017/03/22/news/economy/acosta-labor-secretary-hearing/?iid=ELHe was confirmed ** From CNN The Herald said it found about 80 women Epstein allegedly molested or sexually abused over a five-year period, and the report charged that even Epstein's state prison time was lax, being housed in a private wing at the Palm Beach County jail and allowed work release privileges. Epstein was friends with President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton, and his legal team included Alan Dershowitz and Kenneth Starr, the report noted. Trump nominated Acosta to lead the Department of Labor last year after his first choice, Andrew Puzder, withdrew himself from contention. www.cnn.com/2018/11/28/politics/alex-acosta-jeffrey-epstein/index.html

This further confirms my years of lack of respect for the upper echelons of the FBI. I wonder if one(s) of the FBI's own was going to get caught up in this Webb. Yuck they give the rank and file of the dept a black eye

Give what evidence the police found, it is disgusting and do dishonorable that the state allowed (and apparently encouraged) Epstein virtually no punishment at all.
I hope these girls finally get justice and expose everything.

I've been talking about this forever (and about Felix Sater) regarding Trump. I was SHOCKED enough that he'd run for ANY position in government, since it was widely known in NY about his human trafficking parties at Epstein's manse in Manhattan in the '80's. Both Trump and Epstein had a prediliction (supposedly) for very young virgins. I have never heard Clinton's name in the same category. YES, Clinton was "friends" with Epstein and rode his "Lolita bus"/plane, but supposedly it was to go to Africa and elsewhere for true humanitarian causes. Of course if I read or heard of real proof of anything different, I'd mull it over. Just seems that these people in power that have that type of bullying capability, FULLY take advantage.
In Epstein's case, it boggles my mind that ALL of those women (then girls) couldn't come forward to tell their stories. I hope that they'll be able to.

It blows my mind that a deal like this can be made legally in our court system.
Actually, all of the deal making on any level blows my mind, but this level seems especially sickening.

Deal making in any situation involving sex with children, child pornography, anything, makes me want to vomit. What the hell kind of justice system do we have that someone can have sex with children and barely spend any time in jail?
I truly have no words to convey my feelings.

Agreed. But I also have a problem with deal making for other types of crimes. I find it repulsive. That one person should be able to get free because he or she can give up some dirt on a bigger “whale”? No thanks. Everyone can go ahead and get punished for their own actions. I get he rationale, I do. I just can’t stand it.

Settlement agreement in at least one case: www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article222597265.html"A trial that could have allowed the victims of serial molester Jeffrey Epstein to finally tell their stories from a witness stand was aborted Tuesday when it was announced in court that the case had been settled. It ended with an apology — not to the dozens of women who were sexually abused by Epstein as underage girls, but to the lawyer who represented them. There is also a monetary settlement, which is undisclosed. The lawyer who took Epstein to court, Bradley Edwards, said he remains determined to give the women, now in their late 20s and early 30s, their day in court. That opportunity could come in separate litigation that seeks to undo a controversial non-prosecution agreement that was negotiated in secret 10 years ago between the Palm Beach multimillionaire’s lawyers and the U.S. attorney for South Florida, Alex Acosta. James Patterson actually wrote a book (Filthy Rich)about this. It was researched by John Connolly. It goes into great detail about what he did and how the police investigated it. Patterson also seemed just shocked that he got got away with it for so long. It's a really great read.
I can't believe that shithead Acosta is up for a cabinet position.

The civil lawsuit today was brought by (some of the victims) lawyer who sued Epstein for libel. Epstein attempted to ruin the plaintiffs lawyer's reputation. They settled for money and an apology and admission of guilt to libel. It was not the civil lawsuit the victims are bringing against Epstein.
This is good for the girls because it is directly related to their civil cases. Men who engage in this activity need suffer severe consequences.
