You all know I changed jobs a few months ago. And you also know I have a story for everything, lol. In my boxes of stuff from my old office I found some blue icicle lights. I'd bought them a few years ago with the intention of using them in a competition with one of my coworkers for Christmas office decor. He used to go all out and I was determined. But then I got transferred and never used them. I forgot I had them until I unpacked in July. When I saw the box o said to myself that I could use them this year. They're blue! My favorite color and when I bought them they were the last box.
Fast forward to last weekend. I put them up with tape. But then the heat made the windows wet with condensation and they fell. I didn't like how the windows looked anyway so I was annoyed but not heartbroken. The icicle lights are really meant to go around a house, not to be in a hodge podge in a window.
Last night I was determined. It's already December and I need to decorate so the season feels like it started. I hung the lights double across the center with the excess lining the sides so it looks like they're surrounding an opening. That way the lights look like a cascade down the sides.
When I leave in the morning it's dark so I knew I was going to get the full effect of how the looked on my way out. THE LIGHTS ARE SO PRETTY!! Exactly the look that I was going for. In the perfect shade of blue. I stood outside of my building for a good minute just enjoying. That view is setting the tone for my whole day.
So what is making you smile today?

My preschooler giving me directions about how to make her birthday cake: “First you take the sugar. And then you mix it up. And then add a little more sugar. And then more sugar. And then you bake it!”

I saw a squirrel race across 5 lanes of traffic and make it safely to the other side. Brave little bugger.

DD sent me a photo of 2 year old Dgs standing looking at their Christmas tree with one finger outstretched and a little mischievous smile on his face as he seems to be deciding whether to touch the baubles or not even though he's been told not to

The thread by anniebygaslight "Trump makes a fool of himself. Again. "has me giggling hysterically and I was actually in a rather foul mood earlier today so both of these threads are completely changing my mood

A lovely Robin landed on the branch of a tree as I approached.
Driving back home tonight, lots of houses in my village had their Christmas lights up and on.

Something crazy that makes me smile:
We have jersey barriers separating the lanes on a high way here. When the rainwater drains through them, it forms patterns from dirt and muck that is around the bottoms of them. It’s like looking at art. And it is never the same.

I found a new toothpaste (as per specialist suggested) and it tastes like very inoffensive green apple. It’s very easy to use and will make my mouth clear up. It more made me relieved than smile but it’s a huge sigh of relief and that is everything!!!

At least two things! DS1 and I were Whatsapping silly things about Batman and he sent me a GIF of Christian Bale with Heath Ledger; I loved Heath Ledger as the Joker and the GIF was funny.
This evening I took my little DGDs into the garden to watch the international space station fly over. Although it was difficult to see, they both spotted it and the eldest made me smile with her amazement that her daddy, DS2 who was 20 miles away at work and also Whatsapping me, had seen it at the same time. To her that was more exciting than seeing the space station.

I saw a squirrel race across 5 lanes of traffic and make it safely to the other side. Brave little bugger. I watched the same thing a couple days ago and noticed his tail was sticking straight up at a 90 degree angle as he raced across the street. I wondered if that was where the term "high-tailed it out of here" came from!

I just got a lovely thank you from a client's caregiver. I made a bunch if calls yesterday to get hospice set up for my client. She enrolled today and is getting the pain relief she needs. Makes all of the craziness of my job so worth it.

watching the video of President Bush's dog Sully visiting his casket at the Capitol. the soulful look in Sully's eye almost made me cry. he just looked around and at the casket and gently sat down. it was just the purest and sweetest thing i've seen today.

It has been snowing here today and I was out in it - some of the snowflakes were like perfect, puffy little six-pointed stars. I don't remember seeing them like that before as they landed and it was so cool that I almost walked past where my car was parked because I was looking at them on my jacket.

What made me smile today? I was driving by one of my favorite hole-in-the wall cajun restaurants & decided I was hungry. "I'll fly away" was playing. Then, the man in the booth across from me tried to flag down another customer to find out the name of his group or church. It turns out that an elderly group of friends - a younger member was in his mid 80's - had gotten together in the back room along with their instruments. Several of us thought we were listening to the radio and told them so. All of us walked out feeling a whole lot better about life in general.
