WWYD? My friend (FB friend, we’ve been friends online 20 years) said people (mom with baby and two teens) showed up at her door. Teens wanted to give her two casseroles. They are not in need. It’s part of a school project. I don’t know if they kept knocking on doors til someone took it but she accepted two pans of chicken spaghetti.
WWYD? I think I pretty much know how this is going to go. My friend felt weird but she heated it up, gave some to her husband and tasted it herself.
My response:
“I would feel weird eating food from strangers who showed up at my door like that uninvited and without cause. What if they’re serial casserole killers! 😳”

Totally weird. And why not just make strangers cookies? Are they going to come back for their pan or was it disposable?

There is no way I would take that. Or if I felt I had to to be nice, I would take it and throw it away. I barely can eat food made by people I know (like at work not relatives/friends).

What kind of teacher assigns a project that requires students to make a random dish and knock on doors until someone is willing to accept it? That's bizarre. And, no I wouldn't eat it.

Nope.
However, squillen randomly knocked on my mom's door with pies once to help me surprise her. She sent me a picture with it and a tub of ice cream in less than 10 minutes.
I realize that's not a complete stranger, but if someone showed up here with pie I would probably take a bite after smelling It real good and I would've looked at their shoes, hair, and fingernails while they were here.
Stranger spaghetti? Hard pass.

I don’t know, it would depend on the circumstances. I made cookies and took a box of them over to our new neighbors one day not long after they moved in, so I’m probably the wrong person to ask!

Stranger spaghetti! Is that like sidewalk cupcakes (ie it's very funny to me for some reason and I hope we are talking about stranger spaghetti for years to come)?? 🤣🤣
Not sure why I would consider eating acquaintance pie or ding dong ditch cookies cookies before I'd eat stranger spaghetti, but those sound less yucky to me.

I might take it just to be nice, but there's no way that I would eat it. I'm very picky about food made by someone else- including some family.

I won’t eat food from some people who I know. A complete stranger, not going to happen.

I answer my door but I don't accept whatever they are selling/giving away whether it is religious literature or food. OK, I've never had a stranger show up trying to give me food, but I would decline if they did.

That's weird. I wonder if part of the assignment was so e kind of experiment on which took the food and what they had to say to get them to take it? Like a psychology study or something. Because if not, it's even weirder.
And no, I wouldn't eat it.

Nope.
I once found a Subway sandwich on our doorstep. Someone had pinned a paper with my name to it and just left it on the doorknob. Didn’t sign it or say what time they bought it. Just left it.
My mom told me to just eat it. I refused, saying it could be rotten or poisoned. My mom said I was being ridiculous and that it was fine. I still refused. My dad came home from work and saw it and ate it. He was fine afterward. 😄
A couple of weeks later my mom had a friend over. I walked into the room and the friend said, “oh! Did you like the sandwich I left for you? I know you were home sick from school so I brought it for you!” I told her it was super nice of her to think of me, but that my dad ate it because I thought it was poisoned. We all had a good laugh over it.
I Still don’t eat random food I happen upon, or food from strangers like described above. Because it’s all probably poisoned. 😂

Even I wouldn’t eat it and I’ll eat almost anything. Just too weird. Dang, you always say yes to "would you eat this" threads, so that's saying something! Not only would I not have eaten it, I wouldn't have taken it.

I wouldn't be one to just accept it without asking a million questions as to why there were giving me the free meals. If they couldn't satisfy my curiosity, then I wouldn't accept the meals. I'm too am wondering if this isn't a school psychology project.

Eating other people’s food never bothered me until 2Peas! However there is no way I’d eat something from a random stranger at the door. If the school had warned me it was going to happen I’d accept the casserole and then throw it away. It seems a bizarre thing to do and such a waste when there are people who actually need a meal.

I would not have opened my door if strangers knocked. So it would be non-applicable for me.
Home invasions have been an issues in the city I live. If I don't know you, I am not opening the door. With the exception of service people(cable, phone, etc...) in that case they would be scheduled arrival and have workplace credential/badge to provide. I have a slider door which be seen through, unless the blind is down. If someone were to knock, I can communicate to them while the door is closed and locked.

Nope. Could be a mad poisoner. Also, should youngsters be knocking on doors? They may come to harm too.
There are times when having coeliac disease comes in handy. This is my get out clause for occasions such as this.

No, just no. Since I have a non confrontational personality, I'd probably accept the dish rather than refuse it, but there is no way I'd eat it. Please follow up if you hear more about the circumstances behind this. So odd!
