I love how this is clearly a ploy for money (using her affiliate links) because a bunch of the stamp sets she said she loved so much are stamps she hasn't even used, yet.

I watched the first one (Stamps) last night. Be prepared because it's long, like 47 minutes long. There were only a two or three sets that I would like and they were already on my wish list.
I'm sure that whatever she suggests will sell out quick!
I always give a fist-pump when I already own something she recommends. LOL!

I just bought a bunch of scrap stuff during Black Friday sales so I’m tapped out for a while. It doesn’t mean I can’t expand my wish list though.

I'll be steering clear! I spent more money than I planned during the Thanksgiving sales and I really don't need anything. I'm still watching her distress monoprint/stacked dies card video and trying not to fall for any of the awesome Memory Box stamps she's using. (When she said that the owner knows how much she loves them and sent her a bunch to play with I wanted to shout "tell him I really LOVE Memory Box dies too!" lol)

I own lots of stamps I love that I haven't used, yet. Oh so do I, but I'm not out there recommending them (with a plan to profit off of that recommendation). Especially when there are a few new companies being recommended. Even if you know the owner of company, it seems a little less than genuine to recommend something because you know the person but know nothing of the quality of the product. Eh. Call me a cynic. Call me worse if you want, lol.

I admit that I enjoy hearing people recommend things that are already on my wish list or that I own, too. It makes me feel validated...that buying the item was a good decision. There are a couple she recommends that I'd consider buying and they're showing up at Joann's online...now to just wait for a sale as they tend to frequently have 50% off sales on stamps (it's the dies that are hard to get on sale). I also don't mind her long videos because she has a voice that I can tolerate for a long period of time (although I watch most videos at 1.25 these days). For the most part, I listen rather than watch while I do other things around my scrap room...it's good white noise. I do the same with cleaning and football (unless our team is playing).

Hmmm, while I do like Jennifer's videos most of the time, eyebrows raised if she's recommending products she hasn't even used yet. That's a little strange. How can something be your favourite if you haven't tried it? Silly-sauce.

Let me preface this by saying I love Jennifer’s videos. In the past this series has been awesome. However, it did bother me that she is touting things as her “favorites” when she’s never used them. This is just weird.

She has enabled me a lot in the past, but this year I'm on a freeze. Also, there are just so many products in the videos. It seems like the videos are more a list of products she likes than her favorites. I fast forwarded the sentiment stamps. I am a card maker, but I have a lot of sentiment stamps already. Plus I make Christmas, birthday, anniversary, and occasionally sympathy cards. I have never given a "Hey Friend" card and she went through a lot of those. I also fast forwarded the nesting dies. It got a bit repetitive. Maybe I just need to do some stash busting and wait a year or two before I watch more.

I think she’s also been doing this for so long that unless something new and magical comes out (like layering or turnabout stamps), she more or less knows when she will use a stamp a ton. I feel like she’s always really into small sentiments and bigger centerpiece ones and not as big on images.

Let me preface this by saying I love Jennifer’s videos. In the past this series has been awesome. However, it did bother me that she is touting things as her “favorites” when she’s never used them. This is just weird. For me personally, this isn't weird. When the items being featured are stamps and dies from companies you've bought from before, it's safe to assume that their quality is on par with all their other previous stamps and dies you've had experience with, which means it's less about how the item performs than if the design appeals to you. I know myself and my crafting style well enough that when I come across something I think I'll use the heck out of, I'll definitely call it a favorite even if I haven't gotten the chance to use it yet. JM makes so many cards that she probably knows even more what she will and won't enjoy. I will say that I think this method only works for stamps and dies. If she did the same thing with tools or die cut machines, it would be disingenuous because those items are only useful if they perform well, which you can only tell once you've used them a lot. I also have to say that I appreciate how she tries to be very inclusive of so many companies, instead of sticking to the really well-known companies like MFT, SSS and Lawn Fawn, for example. I bet that for some of the lesser-known companies, being featured on her list is huge in terms of marketing exposure.

I can’t remember if it was this year or last year where she said she was thinking of not doing this series and the masses revolted.
So maybe she’s trying to share new things she hasn’t shared before. I dunno though, that’s just the impression I got watching the first video.

let me preface by saying i haven't watched any of her videos about favorites and actually haven't watched any video of hers in many years; however i'm aware of her (and remember her from the old days when she scrapbooked and her last name was still Ditz). my feeling is, with the rampant product shilling by these "scrap celebs", if you are saying something is your favorite, you need to have used it and you should also provide a sample of something you made with it that shows why it's your favorite. otherwise it comes off as "they're paying me to say this." JMO of course

I stopped watching her when she stood so strongly behind the Misti antagonist. I stopped following her when she posted on IG how she always carries singles when she travels for the homeless people and photographed her son giving someone a dollar. I have a problem with that because: There are so many wonderful organizations to help those in need. One dollar is like spitting on someone. Sharing that you gave is gross. Telling your son to smile with the homeless person with his dollar to give us gross. She’s so g-d damn entitled that it makes me sick. So whatever stamps she’s using is the last thing I give a shit about. Signed, former homeless person.

This is disappointing and disheartening. Nope, don't do this, folks. Just don't. Come on. I was homeless as a child for a while and just, no. Charity tourism is, as julie5 put it, gross. Someone's misery should never be your do-gooder social media portrait. Or used to write an umpteenth blog post about how fortunate we all are and how we should be thankful for all we have. Same goes for tourists going to poorer parts of the world and posting photos of people in impoverished situations on their social media with mundane faux wisdom about happiness not being money or something about the "authentic" life, yadda yadda.
Don't use someone else's miserable life conditions to boost your social media even if they're smiling. A smile or a laugh is not permission to use someone's image for you own cause. Even if you ask and they agree, what makes you think they're in a position to refuse? They have no money, no roof over their head. They will say yes just for some change. They're desperate. That's exploitation. Don't do it. Charity is about kindness first and foremost. Kindness cannot exist without respect. Please always be humble when practicting charity. Give because you can and want to. Treat them like your equal. Say hello, reach out and place the money discreetly straight into their hand, wish them a good a day and move on (or start a genuine conversation).

I agree with all of the above about the homeless, except for one thing. What's wrong with giving a dollar to a homeless person? How is that "like spitting on them"? I do this (and more, which I won't go into) every day. I'd hate to think that I'm "spitting" on people, or that that's how it's perceived.
As for Jennifer M., she is very entitled. I think what she did is tacky, insensitive, and opportunistic. With all her "throw kindness around like confetti" platitudes, she really is clueless about the real world. Yes, we should be kind, but not so that we can brag about it and post it all over social media. And including her kids just makes it worse. SMH. I stopped following her a few months ago because of that superior attitude and all the bragging about new houses and how perfect her family and life are.

I guess because a dollar won’t even buy a meal at McDonald’s. I guess I just think if you can spare a dollar, you can spare 4 or 5. And I dont give every time I see someone asking or panhandling. I’m not naive enough to think all these people are actually homeless but when I do give, it’s more than a dollar. If Jennifer wants to make a difference, she could take her son to also, buy $20 in canned goods, and support her local meal kitchen. Photograph her son dropping off food or helping prep meals for the needy. Our community has recently started a homeless program for people who need food and shelter. I give there. My time and my money. $20 for socks or food goes a lot longer way than a random dollar to a random person they see out and about. And if you do t gave $20? No problem. But don’t act like your dollar changes anything. They need resources. Help in the highest way.

They can make your dollar do the work of 5-10$. It's better than buying things at the grocery store and donating that, or the pre-made bags of 'donation food' some of them offer. Some less scrupulous grocery stores use that tactic to get rid of stock that's old or slow moving. Food banks can buy exactly what they need with money, and the logistics are far more efficient.

No one can be sure of another person's financial situation and assume they can give more. In any case, I will continue to give and do what I can when I can. And I certainly won't post it all over social media. How tacky that was. Blech!
