I'm not sure. I've been asked to share my story and my word at an event in January and I cant seem to wrap myself around it. I'm working on figuring it out Miss Steph, I would like to suggest "Story" as your word. Story of a single Mom Story of perseverance Story of hard work Story of trial and error Story of living your best life You can begin your speech with "Everyone has a story......here's mine." Hmmm. That might actually be something. When I do personal coaching I often tell people to not compare their chapter 1 with another persons chapter 7 because we're all on our own journeys and I often talk about how each day we live is just writing another page in another chapter of our lives. When you flip through my pages I intend to have my pages be as interesting as possible . I haven't officially chosen a word yet. We are taking a road trip tonight and I intend to hunker in the back seat with headphones on and just type. Generally when I just brain dump and journal I can see a theme of some sort. I'm convinced the theme I see will narrow down to my word up until now and I'll also know what my word of the year is for this year. I"m trying to trust the process. I'm not worried about crowd size, it's more the making myself so vulnerable. I can train all day, talking about myself is so different.

Mine is Actualize.
This is because I have so many things around my house that I want to accomplish. I want to realize some goals that I have set for myself. And I want to produce positive results in all aspects of my life.

Persevere. I'm not seeing a lot of light at the end of the tunnel lately, I have to remind myself to just keep going. I am sending you a big hug, lainey . Keep going - the light & end of the tunnel will come. Thank you, that hug is very much needed today.

My word is going to be less. Less stuff, less to do...less excuses...less busy...less making things difficult for myself. just less.

2018 was Yes. Yes to adventure, experience, other people.
I did pretty good, but my grown children are all going through crap which is causing terrible anxiety, and stealing my joy.
So I almost made Joy my word, and it will definitely be an important theme going forward. But I came very organically to a visual that is helping me with the anxiety. It’s me in a lifeboat. And any time that worrying about someone else causes me anxiety, I visualize myself pushing them out of my lifeboat.
It’s surprising me how much it helps.
My word for this year is Lifeboat.

I haven't landed on a word yet. My 2018 word was SOAR and the year was more like "wings were cut and I'm in a downward spiral". If I have to pick today it wouldn't be a very positive word. I’m sorry. I hope 2019 is your year!

Ohh I as just thinking about this the other day. My word for 2019 is intention. I am a notorious procrastinator and am really good at not doing things/changing things because I’m comfortable (and quite honestly scared to try new things for fear of looking stupid) so my 2019 goal is to live with intention.
I’ve started my journey by applying for a job which was very much outside my comfort zone (bank/math 😫) but I knew I had to start changing things in my work life (toxic work environment) so I went into the interview with the intention of getting the job and getting the wage that I thought was beyond my reach. And I did it!
Now I just have the keep my momentum and stick with intentional living.

I am looking at...
Mindful
Be mindful of what goes in my mouth (hello new allergies)
Be mindful of the time I waste on line, doing nothing, not being productive
Be mindful of my relationship with dh, the words I use while talking to him
Be mindful of my actions
Be mindful of how I parent my kids...loosen the reins, give more independence, let them do more to work on their life skills
Be mindful of my activity during the day
Be mindful of how much sleep I get

What a great alternative to New Years resolution. I'm liking the word Own, but not totally sold on it yet. Own your healthy eating Own your commitment to exercise Own your commitment to family Own a healthy balance between work and home

Impeach
Seriously — JOY is going to be my word. I attended a retreat last fall that focused on “The Book of Joy” by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. Also, starting in January our church is going to do a six week series on the book which I am really looking forward to for a positive start to the new year.

The first thing that popped into my head is "change" and I'm going to go with it. There are a lot of changes coming next year, like my twins graduating from high school and very likely moving across the country. We're planning to sell our house as soon as they graduate and move from the 'burbs to the city. And we'll be empty nesters. I feel like my life will be completely different this time next year.
There are also significant changes that I need to make happen in other areas of my life. So this word will be a reminder to keep pushing forward.

Last years word was change. I feel like I embraced that word in so many aspects of my life. 2019 I will focus on choice/choices. Changes and choices go hand in hand. So in some ways it will be a continuation of 2018. I hope to continue to make good choices that will continue to change my life for the better.

Commitment
To getting healthy To scrapbooking To reading To less computer/TV time To less shopping
I think about goals, but always give up on myself. Part is laziness because it gets hard and mundane. Ultimately I just fail at committing to myself.

I don't have one word but a phrase "embrace change". So many things are changing and I do not always handle that very well. My middle son is getting married. I am thrilled with that change. I am going from being the mom of 3 boys to getting a daughter in law. My mom is very rapidly changing as vascular dementia has stolen her memories. Very soon we will need to move her into a dementia care home and I am very hopeful they will be able to provide a safe, comfortable home for her. She no longer lives in the present and it has been very difficult for me to see her losing herself. I am going to need to see the changes as positive even on the darkest day. I really have a very blessed life. My family is happy. We have a stable home. I need to absorb that changes into that happiness.

And I want to produce positive results in all aspects of my life. I need to direct you to Fargo Season 2. That is a good example of how not to "actualize" (it was a character's mantra).
In seriousness, ACTUALIZE should be my word of the year as well for the same reasons you list.

Celebrate I want to remember to celebrate the big things and the little things this year. There'll be a lot of milestones in my family this year (actually began this school year) and I want to take tbe time to properly celebrate them, not stress over the details.
I also want to celebrate the everyday accomplishments - a good day at work/school, a yummy meal, a visit with a friend, a clean kitchen.
I had a challenging year healthwise this year and I'm making positive changes and plan to celebrate them too.

Nuture
It is what is needed in many areas of the lives of those in my immediate family. I hope to do a better job of nurturing all of us this upcoming year.
I seriously can’t wait to put 2018 in my rear view mirror.
