Who here has hosted or attended a favorite things party? I'm doing one with a few girlfriends and I need to add some favorite things to my bags. I think our amount to spend will be $40 or $50. These are things I have contemplated adding:
Eyelash serum from Beauty Bliss (but there is a warning it could turn your iris dark, and though I think it rarely happens...I don't want to be the cause) Chocolate covered almonds from Sam's Club (love these, always keep them on hand...but 1 of the 3 girls is doing Keto so that would be rude to give her a big tub of sugar.) Burts Bees tinted lip balm - love that it moisturizes my lips and gives a hint of color Benefit Porefessional face primer - hides those ugly nose pores Bottle of Margaritas, tequila included - enough said! Probably need to throw in something about a beach... Might add a CD of my favorite Christmas songs, if i find time to compile/burn a CD.
Any suggestions of what you would throw in a bag of your favorite things???

I'd definitely skip anything you have doubts on.
Love the Burts Bees balm.
The pore minimizer would be good.
If everyone in your group drinks, the booze sounds good.

It's going to be hard to not put anything NON Keto in any of my favorite bags. You could give it to her and she can give to her family or friends.
-Dark chocolate from a local chocolate shop -Caribou milk hot chocolate -Philosophy bath gel -Bed head conditioner -BBW candle -fuzzy socks with grippers on the bottom -fleece/sherpa throw -flannel pillow cases -raspberry gingerale -anything red/black buffalo check/plaid

Well the margaritas aren't Keto either...but I feel like that is an occasional splurge, which she will do. But I feel like a big jar of chocolate almonds could haunt her for a while. But yes, she could give them to family. I've also been contemplating some christmas gnomes or something with the red truck as they are my newest christmas obsession.

I think the eyelash serum would be a hit! I think by the time you have your party they don't have much time to play the CD, and really cd mixes are kind of out. I would include some good hand cream like www.lollialife.com/ which I was introduced from Oprah's favorite list. Candle scents are so person specific. I don't know what you mean by bottle of margarita? Like one of those poor tasting mixes that come in a bottle? I'd include fancy hot chocolate and fancy marshmallows.

At the risk of getting flamed..... Some sort of nail polish. I love Color Street 100% nail polish strips They would be fun to put on at your party! (Full disclosure: I am a consultant for them.) But you could put in any favorite nail polish and paint your nails there. Nails and margaritas! Doesn't get much better than that. eta - now I want to have a favorite things party!! Does everyone bring their own favorite thing? or do you coordinate everything and unveil everything like Oprah?

I've not done a Favorite Things party this way. The ones that I have done have everyone bringing a $5 gift x the number of attendees. Then you each get a favorite item from everyone. Or, if you don't know exactly how many will be at the party, you bring 3 favorite gifts and then each person chooses 3 to take home (in 3 rounds).
I would not do the almonds if one of the three can't eat them. And I wouldn't bother with the CDs, as I have no way to play a CD anymore other than in the car, which I never do because my phone just syncs up with the car.
What about a gift card to Starbucks or something? A fun margarita glass with the kit? A favorite book?

The favorite things party I go to you buy/bring 5 of the same favorite thing of yours up to a certain dollar amount. (last party was up to $10 so max $50 output.)
Everyone there writes down their name 6 times and put it in 6 bags/containers.
The hostess starts, presents her choice of favorite thing and then pick 5 names, one out of each of first 5 bags. Those five receive the gift. Then hostess picks name out of 6th bag to be next presenter.
The 6th picked person shows their fave things, picks 5 names to give gift to and then next presenter. Lather rinse repeat.
You come with five (same) gifts and go home with five gifts.
It is actually very fun.
ETA and this way it doesn't matter how many people come and if you bring a friend (if hostess cool with it) everyone comes and leaves with five things.

We've done a "favorite" party - each person brings a favorite thing - we keep the expected value around $30.00 My gift the first year has a story: One year, some time ago, a different friend gave me a set of 10 glass nesting bowls. At the time, I thought it was a rather odd gift. Every day since then I've used one of those bowls - and in reaching for a bowl, I've touched my friend. That is the story that I put in the card attached to a big heavy box of my favorite bowls. One year I received a Martha Stewart 1/4 sheet pan -- and I LOVE it. One year a friend gave each of us a 3 month subscription to Book of the Month Club - another one gave a 3 month subscription to a jewelry lending plan (every month they pick 3 pieces, send them, if you like you can buy, if you don't like you return and they send new) WE didn't exchange gifts this year, and just had our get together tonight. They all said they missed doing the gifts ...

Well I suggested this party to my 3 best friends, with a $20 gift amount (x3 would be $75). We are doing this instead of exchanging Christmas presents so they wanted to up the amount to $40. Each of us will bring 3 of the same gifts to give each of the other 3 friends. It can be a $40 gift or multiple gifts totaling $40. I think we will go out to dinner that night, then back to my house to unwrap gifts.

So, how does this work? You put together a bag of your favorite things and then you do what? Give it someone else?

with a group of gal pals that I met scrapbooking about 18 years ago (yikes!) we get together next weekend for our annual fave things party. Since there is only 4 of us now(one dropped out, one moved far away so makes it only rarely) we do it a bit different than the other fave party I go to with lots of people. We bring identical gifts for everyone (approx $10) store or handmade to give as our main gift. We also do a silly dollar store (or target spot or "cheap" ) gift game. It used to be $1 only gifts but we've upped it to $3 max since 'nice" dollar items harder to find. We bring 5 different cheap gifts, wrapped. We then play a silly dice game while we drink and gab. If you roll 2 or 4 (or whatever-can't remember) you get to choose a gift from the pile or steal one (unopened) that someone else previously chose. If you roll a 1 or 6 (again don't remember- choose any 2 #s) you reverse the order of the roll. When you get 5 gifts, your rolling is over and you watch while others finish getting their five UNLESS someone steals from you then you're back in the roll. When everyone has five, game over. Then we one by one take turns opening the little treasures. First time we played we couldn't find any regular dice in the home so we use the Star Wars version on Trouble with R2D2 noise making under the bubble dice. That has become tradition. I believe the "noise" battery has died but not been replaced so no vocals from R2 anymore. It makes for another nice evening. This one is favored over the other just because it's with all people I am closer to. We all bring an appetizer or 2 and just enjoy each other's company and go home with treasures, too. total cost approx $35 this year. (mine main gift is handmade so less $$ but more time) ETA those who store buy gifts often (damn near always) use 40, 50 or 60% off coupons so gifts are nicer. It's the out of pocket that counts. Altho no one really cares +/- .

Since I'm currently obsessed with skincare, I'd add sheetmasks, a Skinfood sugar scrub (ULTA carries them and there's currently a 20% coupon out now), and may a cooling eye mask.

I love face masks. I like to put one on at night, watch some tv, and rinse. My skin always feels so good after. Sephora has some good ones. I don’t have a favorite one though, because I try to mix it up.
I also love hand cremes by Posh. My favorite scent is Sassyooma. (I don’t sell it, but I am a regular client for someone )
Wish I had a group of girlfriends to do this with! I have friends, but none close enough sadly to make a group of it...

I just wanted to say that my close up girlfriends and i all started an eyelash serum together 2 months ago. It’s supposed to take full effect at 3 months but this week at two months we all see noticeable differences. Mine are so incredibly long. I used mascara on them for the first time last night and it looked lke I’d had extensions put on. I am using eye envy but mine would take up your entire budget. I found it expensive but it lasts 8-9 months.

My girlfriends and i do this every year for Christmas and decided instead of celebrating birthdays this year we are going to also do a summer favorites party. There are 7 of us so we each bring a favorite item(s) x 6. We spend between $5-10. So each of us leave with 6 gifts. This was probably the 6th year we have done it. It is so much fun and so fun finding new things that are each other’s favorites!
