Thanks for sharing this video. Raccoons are adorable. They are my spirit animal.

This was just adorable. One of my favorite books growing up was Rascal and I so wanted a raccoon.

This was just adorable. One of my favorite books growing up was Rascal and I so wanted a raccoon. Me too! One of my neighbors had a pet racoon named. He was adorable on his little leash, but he could be nasty when he wanted. My dad told me to never forget he was still a wild animal, no matter how "tame" he seemed to be. The same neighbor had a pet (descented) skunk. His name was Bear, and he was the runt of a litter born under their barn. He did not have a stripe, and his tail was just a little nub, so he did look like a little bear. Again, he was adorable, but he was never quite domesticated. He was never completely housebroken, so he lived in the barn. He never tried to run away--he had a good thing going with the food LOL. He did not live long, though. I suspect that whatever caused him to be born with no stripe/deformed tail also caused him to have some medical condition that caused him to die in his sleep one night.

I didn't watch the video. We're still recovering from the raccoon that killed our neighbor's cat, our rabbit and destroyed our above ground pool

I didn't watch the video. We're still recovering from the raccoon that killed our neighbor's cat, our rabbit and destroyed our above ground pool ((((Hugs)))) That's so awful! I didn't watch either. A couple years ago a (presumably) rabid raccoon jumped out of my neighbor's ivy mid day and chased me and my toddler. It still freaks me out to think about.

I have such different thoughts on raccoons that most of you. They are so damned destructive. If the population is under control and they are not actively destroying things for us - we pretty much leave them be. Trapping kept the numbers down to a manageable amount. There really isn't money in trapping anymore, so the population skyrockets. They just tear things to shreds. They can open up a roof and get into buildings and cause a great deal of destruction. It's an all out war to keep them out of the sweet corn patch! LOL Our sweet corn patch has more security than Ft. Knox. Two low hot wires for the coons and a higher one for the deer, on a plugged in 100 mile fencer. I am somewhat terrified to enter it! LOL
