This morning something reminded me of this. When I was growing up my mom kept Q-tips in a kitchen cabinet next to the sink. I never gave it much thought but I’ve never kept mine there. I keep some in a jar in the bathroom and the box in the linen cabinet.
Do do you keep anything in an odd place?

I keep a slip leash, an obnoxious squeaky toy, and a can of dog food in my car in case I need to lure a lost dog out of traffic. I’ve done this twice so far.

Did she use them to clean around the sink fixtures?

My big cake container is kept in the linen closet. Takes up too much room to store in the pantry or kitchen cabinets.

I have a needle and thread in my nightstand. When the kids were small, I was constantly mending things and my sewing box is kept under the house so it was easier to just keep a needle and few spools in my nightstand. I also hide my ironing board under the living room sofa.

I have the following in my linen closet which is located in our bathroom: Spare boxes of Hanukkah candles bought on sale in previous years and board games. Other than one standard closet in our bedroom, this is the only other closet we have in our old, itty bitty home!

I opened a hardy used cupboard in my utility room only to find a chocolate cake in a clearish cake box. I was so confused, I hadn't bought it, had I? Just couldn't remember.
Took it down and looked at the date, penny dropped, it was due to expire a few days after my birthday (months ago), DH had bought it, hidden it out of view and promptly forgotten it.
Weird thing is it looked okay, not a blemish on it but I wasn't going eat it, it went in the bin.

You mean on purpose? Not just random crap cluttering various surfaces and corners? Let's see......we have a medicine cabinet in the kitchen for more used meds. Also have a tool cabinet in the kitchen for common tools that just never seem to get returned to the basement We also keep the drill batteries and chargers in the kitchen? Why? I have no earthly idea. Yds' toothbrush is kept in the guest bathroom, he prefers to come straight downstairs in the morning to get dressed and ready and I don't have it in me to argue about him having to go back upstairs and brush his teeth, it's just easier this way.

They are in the kitchen because: The temperature is constant. And You have not drawn a no tool line! My husband tried to store tools in the house. I have let him have a half a drawer in the bed for tools, but he is starting to take over mire draw space. I need to stop that soon.

It is, his face was a picture when I showed him what I had found, the slow realisation that he had forgotten all about it. We had a good laugh about it but agreed that it was best not to eat it even though it looked perfect.

I’m a obsessive flosser so I keep bags of floss picks in a kitchen cabinet, on the bottom shelf of the coffee table, in the desk next to my computer, in my nightstand and in my car.
In the winter, I keep a couple of ferns in my shower.

Though I just remedied this a couple months ago, for years I kept sunscreen in my spice cabinet on the top shelf. It was in order to grab it when we were off to the pool. Now that no one is off to the pool I finally moved it to the bathroom cabinet.

Did she use them to clean around the sink fixtures? Ha ha! Nope. Just for ears. The only bathroom in the house was on the second floor and it was tiny.

After a kitchen remodel, we have no cabinet space wide enough for my party trays. So, they are now stored under a guest bed upstairs. They are covered with a towel to prevent too much dust on them. Funny thing--it took me awhile to remember where they were when I wanted to use them.

Hmmm...I'm curious what other people would think is an unexpected spot for things in my house!
It totally grosses one of my sisters out, and she's been quite vocal, that I keep the broom in the edge of my kitchen pantry. She thinks cleaning tools shouldn't be near the food. For the record, there is nothing unpackaged in the pantry, the broom is obviously down on the floor and the food is stored on shelves 2' above, AND she quite literally has the dirtiest house I've witnessed in a looonggg time so I don't feel she has a whole lot of room to judge.

Not too many things, but I have lots of things stored in 'safe places' that I have no idea where they are!

Not really unexpected but I have dog poo bags in every handbag and coat/jacket pocket I own. Also, although I think this is very practical, but my family think it’s strange that I store all my baking/roasting tins in my 2 ovens! It’s very rare that I use both ovens so I just swap the tins over depending which oven I want to use. Saves cupboard space!

So many things in strange places.
I have a container of flour and sugar that is going out to the project truck as soon as my husband isn’t looking. We have a problem with pantry moths and I keep all my flour, sugar and pasta in the freezer. Now that it is winter and there was a sale on this stuff , I gave too much for the freezer. So it is going to go live somewhere cold and out of sight!

We keep our batteries and chargers on the floor in the pantry- because fluctuating temperatures in a garage are bad for them.

I had posted a while back a photo of my MIL storing her storage containers in the BATHROOM. That is the oddest one I know of lol.
I’m pleased to report though that the last time I was at her house they were no longer being stored in there! Won’t change my lack of desire for leftovers but it is at least an improvement lol.

How do you know if it’s weird if it’s something you have always done?
There are low book shelves in a couple of our closets because there are tons of books due to all of us being readers.
I have hidden batteries in the office desk because I was tired of finding the empty packages in the storage room container, which is the official storage place.
There is a tote, yes a bag type tote, of the unopened pens and refills hanging in the office closet. In addition, there are a number of baskets and a spin container that holds the in use pens.
There is a basket that is part of the living room decor where extra notecards reside. And, extra packages of Post-It Notes are located around the house.
The house has a few storage areas—the “pantry,” the official storage room, and the area around the furnace. So, the larger kitchen items end up in the pantry and storage room. Plus, the extras are in the storage room: cleaning supplies, toiletries, batteries, lightbulbs...that sort of stuff.

Not one but TWO small junk drawers in the kitchen with all manner of odd items including a bunch of DD’s hair ties (I usually comb her hair and braid it at the kitchen table before school every day), the little felt pad things you stick on the bottom of chair legs, random cords for things we possibly don’t even own anymore, and a nail clipper.
In the end table drawer near my chair in the family room I have a small black light that my brother gave me a few Halloweens ago, a metal tin from a gingerbread man cookie full of floss picks, another fingernail clipper, and a tiny Tupperware container on a chain full of small safety pins.
I also keep several sewing seam rippers in various places in my house. They’re great for removing pesky itchy tags from the neck of a shirt or for getting long pieces of hair off of the vacuum beater bar. I have one on every floor of my house.

I have very limited storage space in my kitchen, my husband loves to cook and loves cooking gadgets so we had to build custom storage cabinets in the garage. That sounds kind of weird, but the mudroom opens into the kitchen and the other door goes into a garage breezeway area.
People think it's weird we go to the garage for kitchen appliances, but it makes me happy they're not cluttering my kitchen counters and dh is happy he has his gadgets.

We have 2 kitchen drawers full of misc stuff. Like batteries, tools, candle lighters, eye glass cleaning spray and the little rag that goes with it and so much more!
We also have a few meds in one of the kitchen cabinets. these are things like Ibuprofen, vitamins that are taken daily, an extra inhaler, allergy meds for my kids.
Oh I thought of one other thing, I dont have much space for them in the kitchen, so I keep those large Drink dispensers, the clear plastic ones that you use for a party) I still have the box and I keep those in my master bedroom closet.
The strangest thing I have seen was my step dads mother kept all of the board games and some toys in a large linen cabinet in the bathroom. I always thought that was weird and didnt understand why they didnt keep them in their den.

Probably odd to other people, but not to me. I store things where I use them whenever feasible. We added a built in cabinet in our dining room, the top has glass doors and stores our China, perfectly ordinary. The middle drawers of the bottom cabinet store other serving pieces, vases, cutlery, also expected. But two columns of outside drawers store tons of misc stuff. One is office type supplies that we often need in the kitchen or living room, a drawer for current projects I’m working on downstairs to hide away when not in use, one that holds things for my visitors to use while they are here, they have their own baskets. Another that holds fabric, paint and tile samples I am trying to decide on. Out downstairs is one long room and the dining room is in the middle so it’s a very convenient place to store these items out of site. Ideally they’d be stored in a closet in our entry, but currently it is only 2 ft wide. Can’t wait until we expand it and I get my drawer units in there!
Our linen closet isn’t near the master bedroom, and all of our clothes are in the master closet, so we keep our sheets in a drawer in the chest we use for nightstands.
I do have a box of Thanksgiving/Christmas candles on the shelves in my craft room closet and I just try not to think about it. Our garage doesn’t get hotter than 77 even in Texas summer, but I don’t want to risk it. Still, one of these things is not like the other...
eta: Keeping medication in the kitchen is odd? That seems the most logical place to me. We have an entire cabinet dedicated to medication and first aid supplies.
