We’ve had years of having less than 2 nickels. Thankfully we’re doing well now. I don’t spend on myself. I could but just don’t. Don’t get people having rooms of sb supplies or 30 pair of shoes. Great to those who do, but anyone else that doesn’t splurge?

I am conscious of not being wasteful in the sense that I don’t want to buy more than I can use or buy something that I will only use once or twice. That said, if I see something that I love I will treat myself even if it’s pricy. I used to shop more when aI was younger, now not so much.

We all have choices to do what we want with the money we earn. I bought a good education and work hard so I have extra to spend on me since I did without during my childhood while my other sister go so much more. BTW - your comment "don’t get people having rooms of sb supplies or 30 pair of shoes. Great to those who do..." comes off very lofty. I only have 15 pairs of shoes and a room full of sewing supplies.

We've always lived well below our means to build a safety net and now financial cushion. I'm not a shopper, so that's never really been a sacrifice. We splurge on travel and other things - so am not throwing any rocks in my glass house.

i don't splurge anymore. i have the room full of SB supplies so no more buying there. i don't particularly enjoy clothes shopping or the chaos of malls so no love of shopping there. i much prefer to spend the money dining out with friends. that i enjoy doing. i'm dangerously close to doing more baking and i can see easily pouring money into that hobby. for now i am safe, i think.

I grew up believing that I was super poor (didn't find out until I was an adult that my parents were more than OK). So for me, those old cheap habits don't die. While I sometimes splurge on myself, it took a long time to get to that point. Mostly, I replace things when they are worn out/broken. But I am getting better at buying more quality items. When DH and I first started dating, he loved my non-materialistic ways. 30 years later, not so much. He's constantly yelling at me to JUST BUY IT!!! (When I keep looking at something, whether online or in person.) But our goal is to retire young, so my cheap ways are going to come in handy.

Nope and even if it does happen on a rare occasion, I talk myself out of it. Sometimes we'll get extra funds from Dh's school, but it goes for bills or savings. We keep talking about a tip after all the house drama we had this year and even then it wasnt our money.. lol! We might take that trip. We'll see..

My family is always on my case, because I don't splurge on myself, ever. My insurance out of pocket max is my splurge each year. Dh says that's silly, but I'm frugal and would rather spend money on my kids, dh or a family experience. As a SAHM I don't need pricey clothing or other stuff and if I do have a need I can purchase it.

I don’t get people who pay to get their hair cut or nails done. Doesn’t make those people wrong. I just put my money on things I enjoy, as everyone should.

I don’t buy as much clothes, purses or shoes as I get older, but if I see something I really like, i’ll buy it. I do buy quite a lot of books though. I know many people use the library, but I enjoy buying my own books.

(Seriously, though, I've put myself on a strict no-spend policy until it's time to shop for the GYPO spring challenge.)

My weakness is Zulily - they often have brands I love, like Clark's, Sperry, Earth, Ugg, etc. And when they have them in my size (12) and for a great price, it’s hard to resist.

People to their haircut because it’s not an easy thing to do. I certainly can’t cut the back of my hair, especially since I’ve got RA. just curious- do you ever cut your hair?

This is so damn judgmental. I wear a Tank Française watch by Cartier, but I choose to have a basic top-load washing machine with no fancy cycles or features. Is that a "great for having" or "don't splurge?" I'm so confused.

As long as the bills are paid, savings are accounted for, and there is food on the table I don’t feel the least bit guilty for splurging on myself. You can’t take it with you when you’re gone, so may as well enjoy it.

I'm not really into shoes but 30 pairs is really nothing for most women. I have no idea how many shoes I have but I'm sure it's at least that and probably more like 50, though they're mostly nothing too fancy.
I have disposable income now that I didn't have when I was younger. I'm going to enjoy myself because you can't take it with you. So I'll keep buying nail polish and purses or whatever floats my boat and you do you, boo.
I hate these judgey posts, even if they're not meant that way they still come across as condescending.

I don't care to judge how other people use their money or feel superior because I think my way is better. Everyone has to make choices based on their own circumstances and means. There is no one way that is right for everyone.
I work my ass off and make a good living. I use those funds in ways that make me and those I love happy and our lives better. If I'm not doing that, what the hell is the point in working that hard?

I’m the same exact way. I grew up poor so I think that has a lot to do with it. I get serious anxiety spending money on myself even if it’s things I need..on the other hand I love spending money on other people.

Girl, you don't want to know how many pairs of shoes I have. That. I love me some boots and shoes. No matter how big my ass gets, the shoes still fit. I also have an entire craft room stuffed full, and some general craft supplies in a separate she-shed. I don't feel an inkling of guilt over any of it.
