So after probably like 10 years I am almost out of checks. Still have to write them time to time but definitely not like you used to. I can remember how much thought went into ordering cute checks. I always liked the ones that had some kind of light background. So ordering some now and trying to decide which ones to get because I will probably have them forever and ever.. HA... I never had the plain kind.. not me. I always like something fun but not gaudy. It has to be very water colored out..not dark cause it it's really hard to see the writing.
When's the last time your ordered checks?? haha... Or if ever? I keep thinking I really don't need them, but sometimes work needs a blank for deposits, my kid's school, or buying something here or there if it is cash/check only. I always like having one or two with me in the case I don't have my debit/charge card (once in a blue moon it gets borrowed by dh/dd and not returned to me and guess who is at the grocery store without payment?) HAHA

I can't remember the last time I used a check - certainly not in the past 9 years, as we haven't had a check account here in Germany. In fact, I'm not sure if Germany even has check accounts - I've never seen anyone here write one. Even when I did use checks, I didn't order them - we got them supplied by the bank and they were boring.

I just never have a need for checks. Also really like that if someone steals or I lose my debit card I can call and cancel it immediately. With checks they can just keep bouncing them all over the place.

I have honestly never ordered them, but take that with a grain of salt because I'm only 31 and haven't had a lifetime of check writing. I think the last time I came close to running out was back in 2010 when I was renting and the management company only accepted checks.

Over 10 years ago at least because they still have our old address on them. The only time we ever use them is for service at our house, some suppliers require them oddly enough.

I don't even know what my bank has to offer but I remember the last time.. a million years ago they were always more expensive so I always bought from Current or Walmart. Less than $10 and will last me for the next 20 years I am sure. I can't imagine not having checks though even know I never use them cause there is always one little thing here or there. Especially with school. They don't take cards and I never have cash. There are field trips, lunches, misc things that pop up.

I think it's been about 6 years. Right now I typically use one per month - for my water bill. I have tried paying through my bank but my city tends to not post the payment to the correct acct and then i get a late charge and it takes forever to straighten the mess out. If I try to pay them directly via eft there is a 5.00 charge so I'm sticking with a check for now. Same goes for my property tax bill, but that's just once a year.
I do still keep a register for all of my debits and other bills I pay on line...

I actually had to about a year ago. I figure I'm set for life now. Not thinking, I ordered them not long before we moved. So they have our old address on them. Still using them.

Funny thing is my neighbor, her (now deceased husband) was very very very weird with their money. He wouldn't allow debit cards or credit cards (they had one for travel stuff only or maybe a few online purchases, and I mean few... she wouldn't dream of using something like Amazon). She could only use cash or checks. So whenever we go shopping together she whips out her checkbook. I have tried pushing her a little to get at least a debit card but she is still fearful of one. She does have a bank card so she can get money out of the ATM but that is the only place she can use it.

I still have to use a couple a month - piano teacher, drum teacher, and water bill.
I just buy the cheapest from the bank and a box lasts for years.
Oh, and we have to have checks if we do a facilities rental from the city (like to rent out the aquatic center for a birthday party).

DD opened a checking account when she turned 18. At the time, she chose the Spongebob character checks which were cute. She's 25 now and I think she's barely written 20 checks out of the entire box so she's going to have those for a very long time.

I still write about 2-4 checks a month (mortgage, HOA, insurance). I don’t carry the checkbook with me. A box will last about 2 years. I just order the plain ones from the bank. I used to love ordering cute/pretty ones.

I write checks for childcare almost weekly- and I’m currently out and need to reorder. I read once that it costs the business almost a dollar to process a check versus electronic payment so I used to always write Comcast a check in my own little way to stick it to the man.

I haven’t used a check in forever. When I did order them, I’m like you OP and liked the cute ones, but too crazy. Must be light background so my writing would show up. Now I just use blue ones from the bank that will last for years.

I wish they still came in boxes. I’ve misplaced a couple of flat books, so I have recently ordered some. I write them for hair, nails and school fees etc. I ordered some cute Boston Terrier checks. They may be too cute not to use 😀.

The one city that we have a house in charges a fee for online and debit.
The charge on paying property with card or debit is outrageous. One is 4% of the amount due. I pay by check.
And I shop at winco a lot. No credit cards there.

I've ordered within the past 5 years. I get the free design from my bank. And those who are wondering about the free design, I've been a customer for long time and back in the day free checks came with my type of account. DH has his account longer than me and in addition to free checks his account comes with free safe deposit box, free Traveler's checks and CC/MO's!

My first job out of high school was working behind the scenes at a bank. It was fun looking at all the check designs.

I still pay some bills with checks. I guess I order them every 18 months - 2 years or something like that? They are always something cute - most of the time, Disney. This batch is classic Mickey but before that, I had Disney villains which I loved!

I never carry cash, so I still write checks pretty often- for guitar lessons for my son, for school fund raisers, things like that. thanks to your post I remembered i'm on my last book and need to order too! I was saddened that last time I had to order, all the cute designs were like an extra $25, and I couldn't justify it.

My first job out of high school was working behind the scenes at a bank. It was fun looking at all the check designs. I used to work at Hobby Lobby and had to reconcile the registers.. TONS of checks. It was hard not to focus on the cute checks while trying to tally the amounts! LOL

is a 5.00 charge so I'm sticking with a check for now. My gas company charges for credit/debit ... anything online. So I write a check, a stamp is cheaper!! Pay rent with check too. Most everything else is online..
