Thank you Cindy Lou Who!
My youngest and I have been going through one of those times where he thinks I'm the biggest asshole who ever walked the earth and it's been killing me. It's been on and off for a few months and I know it's normal. His brothers both did the same thing.
He seems to be coming around lately though. He's got a girlfriend that is adorable and tells him that I'm not that bad all the time so she's helpful 😆
He asked if dh and I wanted to go to the zoo lights last week and when I joked and said "are you asking because you want to spend time with us or because you want a free dinner" and he said well, you will choose somewhere much better than I would but we want to hang out too" I appreciate the honesty...and I'm happy to buy the dinner If I get the time with him.
Tonight, we were planning on going to the movies and since it's far we were all going to ride together. I just called and asked him what kind of holiday cookies he wanted, I'm baking tomorrow and he said "you're baking? How bad do you want to go to the movies? Can girlfriend come over to watch movies and make cookies with us and we can just skip the theater?"
YES!!!! Yes, we can.
Please keep this angel girl who likes your mother around until after graduation!

I do love my youngest son to pieces, but his girlfriend? Yeah, she's my favorite.
Joking about why your son wants yo to go out with them will just give the kid ammo! We have been having Friday night date nights for years with the youngest and his gf. The running joke when the bill comes is that my son has alligator arms. Frankly, I don't care about who pays, I just love that we all enjoy each other.

My youngest is high functioning Autustic but has always been very good company for me - loves to spend time with me . We just got back from our annual panto.
My oldest boy has changed completely since he became a dad - he used to be so offhand with me and quite selfish , but now he's absolutely lovely and so caring .
It's so lovely to see them grow and change, isn't it ?

My recent college grad son-lives with girlfriend 10 minutes from my house-asked if he can come stay night Christmas eve so he can wake up here Shocked and happy! That is a dream come true! I find myself soaking up every second I can. We made peppermint mocha brownies, peanut butter blossoms and fudge and have sugar cookie dough chilling for tomorrow. We watched home alone and munched on a harry and David gift that came today and some buffalo chicken dip. Perfect night!

Our grandson- aged 20, has lived with us for all his life. (with my daughter too!) He sat us down a few weeks ago to announce that he would be moving in with his girlfriend of 5 years so they could spend more time together before he leaves - is just waiting for his official acceptance letter into the airforce. He seemed a little surprised that our first question was when?? He dropped by last weekend, stayed for lunch and then proceeded to hang around talking to us for the next few hours! We had been shopping/doing housework all morning and we're old, so were really planning on lazing around watching tv and having a nap. Usually we always had conversation at dinner, but otherwise he was always off to work, on his computer or going out. We were falling asleep on the couch and he still couldn't get the hint! AND for the first time ever he actually responds and sends messages to us through Messenger! He's a good kid and we will miss him terribly when he moves interstate but he has assured us that he "will always come home for Christmas!" It's so nice when teenagers realise how much they actually appreciate you! Corinne

I got the ds that would still be happy to zipper himself to us. I cherish it as I know it can change quickly.

I still have the hardest time wrapping my head around @stephdrebel having anything other than littles. I remember photos of your youngin's from the old board and I still picture them that way. My youngest is almost 17. She emerged from her room last night and asked us if we wanted to play a board game.

That's awesome. Enjoy your time with DS. Kids all go through that in their teen years. My kids were on and off. My daughter is now in her 20s and talks to me 50 times a day . My 18 year old still gets moody but he coming around. We're taking a vacation together in March, just the 2 of us and he's pretty excited. I love spending time with my kids ❤️

Yeah, they eventually come to their senses!
Ds 23 is a bit annoyed at GF (also 23) parents who are absolutely rigid and unyielding regarding her presence at all family holidays.
Dh and I are like hey, ham tastes just as good on Dec. 26th, so whatever is easiest for them. It's just Dh and I, no family near, so we can do what is easiest for all. We went through this on Thanksgiving, and ended up having our meal on Friday. The solution for Christmas was he invited us to their place for Breakfast Christmas morning. We did that last year and it was lovely.
We like GF, she is a sweet girl, but her mom is fairly wacky, and does not hesitate to lay a huge and very effective guilt trip on her daughter whenever she wants something. Ds bites his tongue a lot.
