What do you use it for in the crafting world? I’ve seen a lot of people talking about it but I don’t think it’s something I can get locally. Where do you buy it and is it something I should have in my craft room?

I use wax paper to help me with sticker placement. I put Thickers or stickers on it and then I can easily move it around the layout and then decide where I like them best.

I use parchment paper to run foil through my laminator.

I’ve used it as a stencil for making designs on a shirt with fabric paint. I cut the design using my silhouette, ironed the freezer paper to the shirt, painted the fabric paint onto the shirt using the freezer paper as the stencil, and peeled the freezer paper off. There’s a ton of YouTube videos but here’s the first one I found to give you an example youtu.be/BwUA2KnuZnA

Freezer paper is different than waxed or parchment. It's really good for wrapping meat up for the freezer! But I also used to use it when I was making quilts. If I remember correctly you could iron it to fabric and it would provide temporary stabilization - I think I used it for appliqué. I still have a roll in the cupboard but I've only used it for kitchen purposes since I stopped quilting. I have no idea what use it would be for paper crafts but I'm sure there's some technique - maybe stenciling? I'm not sure if it would do the same temporary sticking thing if you ironed it onto paper.

You can find it in the aisle where they sell wax paper and Saran Wrap.

We don't have it in Europe so I buy a roll when I'm in the US and use it for all kinds of things, mostly with fabric as joblackford explains above, like stencilling and pattern cutting. My most frequently used purpose is as a carrier to put fabric through my inkjet printer.

Freezer paper is different than other things mentioned. I love it and use it for paint palettes. Works great!

Thanks for the tips! And paddingtonpink I loved the video! I do a lot of heat transfer on fabric but I've never tried painting. This video made it look super easy and I'm definitely going to give it a try!

While I haven't found many uses for freezer or wax paper at my crafting table, I do use parchment paper fairly regularly. It's a key component in a DIY wet palette. For sticker positioning I have a bunch of saved backer sheets from magnetic photo mounts, same idea as Elsabelle.

I used to have it when I used to freeze a ton of food but I do not have it in my craft room.

freezer paper has a slick side and a paper side. Wax paper is covered in wax (great for alpha placement). Parchment paper is stiff and somewhat transparent like vellum. Deli paper is flimsier and softer than parchment.

when I am drafting doll clothes, I will iron muslin to freezer paper and print the design with my printer. This me a good idea if the scale of the print is accurate for the size doll that I am making the clothes for.
