Can someone tag this as political please?
This podcast by Slate tells the story of Nixon & Watergate in an easy to follow manner. I’m too young to have lived through it but it has always fascinated me. I went back to the beginning of season 1 and am really enjoying it.
If anyone wants to link it please feel free. I’m on my phone.

Bag man was also really good - it focuses on the Agnew side of things.

Thanks for the heads up. I have just recently began to listen to pod casts and I’m really enjoying the ones I have listened to so far. Bagman was really interesting and enlightening to realize that Trump has not invented corruption at White House level.
I will definitely listen to Slow Burn. I have also enjoyed Dear John, Dr Death, and the Dream.

Thanks, I'm going to be interested in these, too. I was glued to the news and Watergate hearings . It was the most fascinating news stories in my lifetime for me.

I’m a Political Science nerd who was fascinated by Watergate, so I know the details pretty damn well. I know the general outline of Agnew, but was so looking forward to listening to Bag Man on our Christmas trip to see my DD. Had surgery instead, hoping to to take the trip next month, so I’m saving it for now.
I think Watergate is so important to know about right now, because I believe we are living a new version of it.

I wasn’t entirely familiar with the story so the podcast was especially interesting. There are a lot of similarities between Watergate and the current situation in the White House. Something that really stood out to me, though, was the difference in manner of speaking. They were so much more formal and respectful then.

i loved both season of Slow Burn! i was barely born when Watergate happened and missed a lot of the Clinton details because i wasn't paying attention. So, both seasons were great to listen to - and learning so many of the details was very interesting!

Both seasons of Slow Burn are great. I was born during Watergate, so only really knew what I learned in school. I learned a lot listening to that season.
The Clinton-Lewinsky season is also excellent. I am very close in age to Lewinsky and when that was going on, I thought of her as a consenting adult and didn’t have a problem with it. Now, I understand a lot more about power dynamics and think about that whiole situation very differently.

I really enjoyed both seasons too for different reasons (to learn details about Watergate and viewing Clinton through a perspective now).

I am in the middle of an interview on Fresh Air - they are interviewing Rachel Maddow regarding a podcast she and one of her former producers did on Spiro Agnew. Another politician i had very little knowledge of...the interview is interesting and i down loaded her podcast, it's called Bag Man if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the recommend! I will subscribe now.
I went to hear Bob Woodward speak on Sunday. Fascinating and knowledgeable. Loved him and could've listened to him talk all day. But strangely, we had to go through security at this theatre that usually doesn't employ such measures. (I volunteer there, so it's never happened since I've been volunteering)
The man has written books about all presidents from Nixon to Trump. Sometimes a president has gotten more than one book written by Woodward. Only the current one about Trump has prompted bomb and death threats, hence the security.

Thanks for posting about Slow Burn, flute4peace . I was a preschooler during the Watergate years. My mom loves to tell me about how mad I would get when I wanted to watch New Zoo Revue and the Watergate hearings were on instead. I guess I would stomp my foot and say, in great disgust, "Those old Watergates!" I thought they did a great job of giving you the overview along with good little human interest bits. I want to listen to season two, but I actually do remember the Clinton impeachment, and I'm afraid it will make me mad all over again!

It was much more difficult for me to listen to, just due to the nature of the situation (sexual). It was interesting, though.
