These peaked my interest when they were first released but I didn't think I needed them because I use the round blending tool with foam. But lately I've been watching random videos on YouTube and I really think I would love a set. They're a little pricey for me in Canada, but they look like they make blending a whole lot easier! What's your opinion on these?

What's your opinion on these? I don't have these, but I have brushes that are similar. I use them to "pounce" ink through a stencil. They work well for that. But I don't have any experience with Tim Holtz brushes, and I don't use them with Distress ink.

I bought a couple to try them out with distress inks and like them. They do give a lighter effect than using sponges or the ink blending tool.

I got one in a kit and I like it. I have an easier time with it than the blending sponges, especially for a light look.
I use it with Oxides and honestly, I haven't felt any need for more than one brush. If I had a second one I'd use one for cool colors and one for warm, but I find I can use a paper towel to clean off the brush between colors (slightly damp if I'm switching between very different colors, but usually I'm blending two similar colors together so I don't worry much). I know some people have several brushes but I'd only do that if I was a hardcore crafter.
The only downside is that the bristles fall out a bit. But it's a nice little brush and I like the retractable design. You can also change how far out you pull the bristles for different effects.

Get makeup brushes instead. It's way less for a whole bucketful of them, without the 'craft tax'. They've been around for quite some time.

I got the cheap makeup brushes that look like the Picket Fence Life Changing Brushes for Christmas - $15 on Amazon (Canada), for set of 7: Makeup Brushes. They work wonderfully - my best and easiest blending so far. I was just watching Jennifer McGuire's favourite tools of 2018 video and she recommends the Picket Fences ones (at $50 US, so about $65 Canadian) because she says the bristles fall out of the cheap makeup ones, but that the Picket Fence ones are glued in. For that price difference, I'll stick with the make-up version. I could not see a difference in her video, they look exactly the same. I've used them all last week and not a single bristle fell out. I'm disappointed that I don't think she's being completely honest here, but maybe time will tell and I'm completely wrong. I didn't find her reasons for buying the craft version very compelling.

I got this set from Picket Fence Stamps. Four brushes for $26. They blend beautifully. I did try the cheap make-up brushes from Marshalls but they kept shedding. It took me a bit to get the hang of the handle because all the other brushes and blending tools I've used you hold them upright not out to the side. I bought them on a BF sale - 20% off and free shipping. marg the ones you posted look exactly like the ones from PF.

I have been thinking I would like to try the blending brushes, but have not yet purchased any. Following this thread with interest...

I’m thinking about trying the Amazon blending brushes. 50 is a lot of money for brushes and I have the Clarity brushes. The brushes I threw out were the Tonic ones with the double brush ends. They just left little bristle marks and didn’t blend at all. It was a bad look.

I saw Jennifer McGuire's review of those Picket Fence blending brushes as well, but I thought that the results would be similar to those of the foam blending tool that I already have so I didn't pay too much attention. The ones I'm thinking about are these: Tim Holtz Blending Brushes

Any dense, rounded brush is going to do a good job of blending. I don't for a hot minute believe that the craft branded brushes somehow special enough to justify their exorbitant markup. The Holtz brush looks like boar bristle, which you can get from every art supply source under the Sun.

I bought a set of Tim Holtz’ blending brushes when they first came out. They shed like mad. I had to keep brushing the loose bristles off of my pages. I would not recommend them.

I have the Clarity brushes and really like them. I got them on Amazon. They aren’t on Prime though.
ETA: I’m going to try those makeup brushes the next time I place an Amazon order. Looks interesting.

Looks interesting. I have the Clarity brushes too... but sadly I’ve never used them! Had to have them but there they sit... I think I watch too many Tim Holtz videos... that’s why I suddenly felt like I have to have these brushes!

Looks interesting. I do use my clarity brushes - just finished 5 card backgrounds with them - really like them. But I'm intrigued about the make-up brush style now!

I have the Vicki Boutin brushes and they are awesome! I just bought the Tim Holtz brushes- 8 of them. I store all but one in the TH mini Distress pad tin. I wanted enough brushes for each color of the rainbow. I’m a little worried about their quality after reading some of these posts. I’ll be using them tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Do you find you use the entire set? I haven't used the smaller ones yet, just the 2 largest ones so far. A set with just 4-5 brushes would be plenty. Can I just say that I only just now figured out the notifications thing at the top? It only took me, what, 4 years to figure this stuff out, lol. For $15 delivered I ended up buying the brushes last night. They were delivered today but I spent too much time running errands and had no time to test them out! I’m hoping I can play tomorrow... but it’s another busy day so play time may have to wait until next weekend...

I use shaving brushes. The handles are nice and short and the bristles are soft and dense. I pick them up from a bargains store where they cost just a couple of pounds each. The occasional bristle falls out, but it isn’t a problem.

I got the Amazon brushes and tried them. They work fine and no hairs falling out. I think I will use the smaller ones for stencils and getting into crannies. I can buy four more sets of these before I hit the Picket Fence price point.
Maybe I already posted this but the Tonic Nuvo brushes were not a good choice. I threw them out. They are the ones with a brush on both ends. They made big bristle marks and didn't blend well at all. I like the Clarity brushes but I think I like these Amazon brushes better.
And yes Shaz on SCS is great. Lots of good ideas and she is helpful to people who need advice about techniques.
