My brother-in-law is cleaning out his mother’s house and gave me a box of ribbon and these were in the box. I’m assuming they were used on wrapped gifts in some way. They seem to have adhesive on the back...the type you would wet to adhere them but I haven’t tried it. I plan to use them on my scrapbook pages. ETA: They are paper.

Those are Dresden style paper medallions. They are used for decorating and gift wrap. Probably from the 60's or 70's.
They are based on Dresden ornaments from the late 19th century made of embossed gold and silver paper and cardboard.

I have some pack dec. things from my mother. I think they stopped making the kind you had to wet (lick ) quite a while ago. Maybe 70's. If you plan to use them I suggest you use glue because the ones I have won't stick well with just water. I doubt they had a real name other than "package decorations".

Some look like they are German Dresden foil die cuts (the older looking medallions). They were used in things like collage. I have a small collection I bought years ago, they are so pretty.

They are based on Dresden ornaments from the late 19th century made of embossed gold and silver paper and cardboard. I ordered some colored ones years ago from somewhere. I'm not even sure how I stumbled upon them, but I used them in my mini albums. Seems like they came from the UK. A lady bought all of my scrapping stuff and I don't even remember seeing them. I would send them to you if I still had them!

I know them as German or Dresden Scraps. You can get them over here in some of the more old fashioned type of craft stores and eBay, etsy etc. You are right to not wet them, they never stick!

I’m useless, I’ve never seen those before, but they are pretty! Now I’ve learned something new. I would use them on scrapbook pages, too.

I might be tempted to frame one or two. Make a fabulous page and frame it.

Yes they are called Dresdens. Anna Griffin uses them a lot in her stuff.

Your BIL obviously knows you well, to think of you. How nice he didn't just throw them away!

Your BIL obviously knows you well, to think of you. How nice he didn't just throw them away! He does. And he’s not one to throw anything away, much to my sister’s dismay, lol. His mother wasn’t a nice person, to put it kindly, and had no use for my sister (she took her 45 year old “baby”away) so my sister doesn’t want anything that was hers...so I benefit.
