The things that were game changers for me in my crafting life this past year were: 1. Brother scan n cut. I love being able to scan what I stamp and have it cut out large quantities of images. It’s amazing. 2. Gemini jr- best die cutting machine I’ve used. Once I figured out the sandwiches it is a game changer. Love it. My bad shoulder appreciates it to. Perfect beautiful cuts every time. 3. Krystal katana- that thing is amazing for picking up jewels, small pieces of paper for paper piecing images, etc. don’t know how I lived without it 4. Nuvo crystal drops in white blizzard- great for shine 5. Glossy accents- an oldy but adds great shine 6. Nuvo drops in white- great for snow
That’s my list what is yours?

ScanNCut would be on my list too, even though I haven't used it to its full potential yet. There are several dies I got that have been awesome - I only got my first Big Shot just over a year ago so that's still a game changer for me. Adhesive syringes for precise gluing.

I'll play.
1) Scan N Cut - hands down my best purchase of 2018 and in the top 3 of crafting purchases ever. 2) Teflon bone folder - I resisted purchasing this for so long. Once I had it, it was "why did I wait so long?!" 3) Elizabeth Ward bead storage - I find I use my sequins a lot more now that they are organized and easy to find. 4) Tim Holtz glass media mat - what a great work surface! 5) Additional Tim Holtz travel stamp platforms - well worth the investment for mass producing cards.

I purchased my Silhouette last January, and have enjoyed using it, although that use goes in fits and starts.
Got my Minc at the same time, and have had fun playing with foiling.
Best discovery was the Decofoil reactive gel that lets me combine stencils and foils.
Have enjoyed playing with Prima pearlized paints.
Want to play more with alcohol lift ink.

hmmm- hard to remember what items I bought when, but--
1) Big Shot (TM purchase, from clearance): I have a Silhouette, but I think it's easier to get out the Big Shot than hook my Silhouette up to my laptop... and it can cut much more intricate, smaller shapes.
2) Tim Holtz stamping tool: I canNOT stamp cleanly to save my life, so the ability to re-stamp in the EXACT same place is amazing, and a game-changer for my crafting. (I might actually make more cards!)
3) not a purchase, but I've started following scrappers on Instagram which makes it a LOT easier to see things that inspire me, since Pinterest is so overrun with advertising. That way I can just look at my OWN boards on Pinterest instead of my home feed. (a number of the people I follow on Instagram are Japanese CM advisers and scrappers, and their style is inspirational to me; they use limited supplies in interesting ways (like doing paper-folding embellishments, etc.)
4) also not a purchase, but I joined a number of crafting / scrapbooking groups on Facebook. I don't use Facebook for my own personal stuff, except for seeing and commenting on what's going on in those groups.

Geez! Am I the only one without a scan and cut?? Maybe I need one? HA! I don't have one either! Now I'm really curious! I'm assuming you need the multiple images for when you make multiples of a card or something like treat bags??? Do you color the first image and then scan? If so, how do the colors look when scanned?

I'm assuming you need the multiple images for when you make multiples of a card or something like treat bags??? Do you color the first image and then scan? If so, how do the colors look when scanned? I got my SNC for two reasons - to eliminate/reduce the need to buy matching dies and to make cutting multiple images faster. I mass produce all my cards, making anywhere from 6 to 12 of each design. Usually I color and then use the SNC, but sometimes I do it the other way around. The scanning function enables the machine to look for the outside edges/borders of the image so it knows where to cut. It doesn't scan to make a copy like the scanner in your printer might do so the color accuracy doesn't matter. It then cuts out your original stamped images. I can cut an entire 8-1/2x11 sheet of images out in about 3 minutes.

As long as the lines are closed it cuts beautifully. I often color at night or other places and cut a whole page of images at once. It works great. I make multiples of cards for my husbands business but often I use a lot of images on different cards. I can stamp a whole page of images then have it all cut out perfectly. I use it mostly just as a scanner and cutter. It can do lots of things such as making decals, cutting felt, etc. it’s suoer easy to use. The mats suck but the machine is instinctive and very easy to use

There are a few ScanNCut threads around that go into more detail, some with pictures of people's experiments. Most are on the stamping/cardmaking board I think. here's oneanother oneI could've sworn there was another one recently on this board asking if it offered any advantage over the Silhouette the other day but I can't find it right now. ETA here it isI forgot to put my "Tiny Tim" travel stamping platform on my list! So much more manageable than the full sized one, and so helpful for the clumsy stamper, or for the mass production of cards. (I bulk stamp images when I get a new stamp set that I can cut really quickly on my ScanNCut, which I now think deserves a nickname too)

A thread of enablers! Shouldn't have come in here. Budget doesn't include a scan n cut or gemini jr, although now I want both. Although: why is the gemini jr better than a big shot? Just because it's electric? Please, ease my desires My Big Shot works fine for me. And: can people talk more about the glass mat? I toyed with this at Christmas, but I wanted it as a PERMANENT base under my craft area (like my green mat. I wouldn't be moving it in/out) and it seemed a little small. I do use mixed media regularly but I am primarily a scrapbooker. Does anyone here use it literally all the time on their table? Loving the information!!!

It just sits on my desk as do my Gemini and scan n cut. I put my scan n cut on my mat when I cut. Other then that I just use it as an awesome work surface. I even bring my mat with me when I travel by car overnight for work. I don’t have any other mat over or under it. The Gemini jr cuts everything perfectly each time. Intricate die cuts are no problem with one pass of the machine. On my big shot I often have things that don’t cut all the way through even with several passes not so with my Gemini. I make a lot of die cutting projects for many people. That is reallly hard with the big shot easy peasy with the Gemini. It’s hard to explain but it is a game changer.

I do use mixed media regularly but I am primarily a scrapbooker. Does anyone here use it literally all the time on their table? Loving the information!!! I can't ease your desires for a Scan N Cut because I think it's amazing and worth every penny but let me address an electric die cutting machine. I have a Big Shot but I bought a Vagabond to help with repetitive cutting and cranking. As I've mentioned before, I mass produce cards. A single design could entail 12 inside die cut layers, 12 outside die cut layers and multiples of 12 dies cuts for images, sentiments, etc. I was getting quite the right arm workout cranking all those through! Several of my friends have moved from a Vagabond to a Gemini Jr. and love, love, LOVE them. I have no problem cutting intricate dies with my Vagabond and have thought long and hard about what I would get if/when my Vagabond bites the dust. Right now, it would probably be another Vagabond because I use the platform on the Vagabond to build die cut sandwiches constantly. The Gemini doesn't have a platform, you have to hold your die cut sandwich and feed it into the machine. The arthritis in my hands is getting worse and I'd miss that Vagabond platform a lot. Anyway, back to your question, if your Big Shot works just fine and you aren't mass producing cards, my advice is to save your envy for the Scan N Cut.

I'm not much of a gadget person.
My Freckled Fawn subscription until they stopped doing them two months later... a hexagon punch stitched heart die set from Lawn Fawn
not too exciting...

I got the Tim Holtz SideKick and quite a few dies for Christmas. I really like it! I have a cameo silhouette and never use it - but this I see using for titles and small things. So cute and easy to use. I also purchased the TH Travel stamp platform in July 2018. I have not used it yet, but this is the year I want to stamp more on my layouts and I am excited to try this soon. The smaller Minc which I hope to use more this year also and try different things with it.

Okay, so full disclosure: I have not used all of the items I'm going to list, but I am still most excited about them. Hopefully that counts.
1. ScanNCut 2. Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat 3. Tim Holtz Stamp Platform 4. Tim Holtz/Tonic Trimmer 5. Minc

I'm having trouble remembering what I got this year. Karen Burniston pop-up card dies. Thanks to the Pea who recommended them. My first foray into using Heat Transfer Vinyl. Everyone I know is getting a T shirt this year.

I don't remember a lot of what I got last year (which probably says I got too much) but my favourites were the TH travel stamp platform. It was a bit of a splurge for me since I'm not a massive stamper but it has already paid for itself with the cards I made for the swap last year. No regrets on this.
I also bought a bunch of older papers from a local online store - Cosmo Cricket, Basic Grey, Oct Afternoon, a little bit of Sassafrass. That one parcel made me so damned happy.

I am purchasing the Scan N Cut today, and I got the Gemini Jr. Right after Christmas. The only thing I don't have on your list is the Krystal Katana. Need to check that out! 950nancy , there is a much cheaper alternative. I will have to find it for you. I have not personally tried it, but Jennifer McGuirre one year recommended the Krystal Kantana, and the next year recommended the cheaper alternative, so it much be an ok tool. ETA: ok, never mind, seems like there were several complaints about it.

Starting in January, Karen Burniston finally redid the popup cake die! I loved the popup palm tree set almost as much and the popup tent set.
Then, I got my heat press the first week of June! Hardly made cards after that! I've been on a t-shirt/cap/wall hanging making kick since then. I got the Silhouette Curio in October after going through all my Cricut Expression carts making shirts. I love that I can make my own designs and bought the Curio because I wanted to do acrylic, metal etching, work with leather etc.
I only had a cricut because it was given to me, now almost 3 years ago. Very happy with my Silhouette Curio. And I don't need a Scan N Cut, my mini Pixscan Mat works just fine!

Probably the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I also got some nice scrapbook.com ink colors on sale. Other than that it was all just paper and embellishments. Nothing big last year but I love everything I bought 😂
