For those of you with the machine, what accessories are needed? I am planning on purchasing the ScanNCut2, but was wondering about the activation card for wireless and some of the other accessories. I have a ton of vinyl and don't need that bundle. I am off to watch some YouTube Videos to see what people say, but figured this group of people are honest and slightly opinionated (what I want).

Maybe an extra mat? This was my first electronic cutter of any type and I went through my first mat pretty quickly (operator error). A year later, lots of cutting and I'm still on my first blade.

I agree that an extra mat would be helpful.

I don't have this, but May Flaum does lots of videos about the scan and cut. www.mayflaum.com

I have been watching her videos. I didn't realize she was the same person who used to be on some of the scrapbook shows on HGTV.

The wireless card is a bit of a rip off. It's just a code that unlocks the wifi feature built into the machine. If you're going to use the online design features a lot I guess it might be worth it, but I'd rather just use a thumb drive to transfer files on the rare occasion that I use the Canvas program instead of just scanning and cutting directly. I would personally wait until later to see if you need to add that feature. I don't believe you usually get a discount by bundling that. (It's about $40 if I remember correctly)
I got some extra mats super cheap when Aaron Bros liquidated, but I haven't actually used them yet. A second mat might be helpful if you want to do a lot of cutting in one session. If you have 2 mats you have the option to put a second mat on to cut while you're still cleaning all the pieces off the first mat. Learning to clean and repair the mat is more important (Julie Balzer has a guide).
I didn't buy anything extra.

I purchased a low-tack mat immediately. I found the mat that came with the machine was way too sticky for the paper I was using and my stamped designs were ripping when I attempted to pull them up. The low-tack mat works perfectly. I purchased mine on Amazon.

Extra Mats & Extra Blades.
I have never needed the WiFi. I do have an extra thumb drive to store files. I love it. I think that is a must have.
Baby Wipes, Lint Roller to clean your mat. Glues to keep your mat sticky. Of course tools to get your cuts off of your mat. I use a large needle.
You don't need a lot for the machine. She's pretty low maintenance.

I think the only things I've bought are the extra blades & mats too. I did get a scrape tool thing to help clean off the mat, but that's about it. I use the wireless all the time, so $40 was worth it to me not to hassle with a thumb drive but as others have mentioned, you don't *need* it. It's a fun machine. I wish I used it more. I'm still a little intimidated by it. I would love to go to one of Julie's in-person classes on using the machine but so far they have been too far for me to too travel too with the machine. I'd love for her to offer it as an online class.

Did you know you can use the Cricut mats in the ScannCut. You will need to modify the Cricut mat. You have to cut it to fit around the ScannCut mat where it doesn't block the registration lines. I wrote a tutorial a few months back over here how to do that. It's working for me really well. I got that tip from our UK girls who were paying exorbitant prices for the ScannCut mats plus long shipment times to get the mats.
Yes, you can definitely use Krylon to restick your mats.
You pretty much have everything you need already if you have a Cricut and Silhouette already. I didn't have to buy anything new when I got my machine. I just stocked up on extra consumables.
I was trying to think of other things you can use with your ScannCut that is different. I did think of another one. I prefer my Nintendo DS stylus to use instead of the one ScannCut provides. They are made of the same material but the stylus from the DS is tapered differently and is more accurate, especially when you are cleaning up your file before cutting. That monitor is well made but like all electronics can be persnickety at times. You can get styluses that are longer too so they fit more comfortably in your hand. That is what I have. My stylus is the length of a regular pencil.
Any of you who have a Nintendo DS gamer in the household or near you they probably would give you an extra stylus. We have multiplies, lol. I also use mine to score cardstock with my scoring boards. You can get them on Ebay 10 for under a $1.00.
